What more would you want for a Sunday afternoon?

Perfect location. Lovely, helpful, friendly staff. Good value for money. 

Food is very good, whether is for lunch or dinner. Very accommodating for children too. It’s perfect to sit & relax.

Perfect Sunday afternoon relax

I discovered Gumusluk back in the 90s and fell in love with it. Really unspoilt and untouched by mass tourism. I started staying here in 2005. That was when we found Arriba - really by accident when I found it on the internet and actually thought it was somewhere else!

But we like it. Gumusluk is now a conservation area which means that there is effectively no new building in the centre. This means that there are no massive "all-in" hotels beloved by foreign tourists. The clientele is mainly the Turkish middle class from Istanbul/Ankara/Izmir. There is little noise, and people spend their time on the beach, walking around and reading. Guests are journalists, professors, musicians and writers - it is that sort of town. There is some jazz, and there is a nearby classical music festival. The area around the harbour is full of fish restaurants of an excellent quality. No, outstanding.

Arriba has changed over the years. It is owned by Mucahit who is charming and understated. Basically it is a beach restaurant with rooms. There are 4 apartments in a concrete block, and maybe 5 wooden chalets. Whilst self catering is possible, there is little incentive because the restaurant offers food from breakfast until dinner. I always choose the Turkish breakfast because there is nothing to beat it in Turkey - 4 or 5 cheeses, tomatoes, cucumber, some green stuff, jams, honey, boiled eggs, coffee and tea. Omelettes fried eggs etcetera are also on offer. The lunch menu is simple but good - shish kebabs, meatballs, casseroles, pasta, salads...... the evening the menu is similar,but the selection of starters (mezeler) is outstanding. The standard fish dishes are good,but if you want something "special", discuss with Mucahit the day before, and he will buy it.

When we started coming the rooms were a bit spartan; this did not worry me because I have been coming to Turkey since the 70s and was used to it. Each year Mucahit invests in renovations, and the accommodation is verging on the luxurious (well, not quite, but it is extremely acceptable). 

Gumusluk has a sort of compressed sand promenade. Leaving the apartment you have about 10 metres of garden full of trees(eucalyptus), a wall, the promenade,10 metres of beach and the sea.

This is my 12th visit, and unlikely to be my last.

Our 12th visit!

Great location, very close to restaurants and bars in gumusluk. Rooms are minimal and clean. Staff are friendly. We enjoyed our breakfasts served with home made jams. Food is generally very tasty made with local vegetables. We had a very peaceful and  friendly experience. I recommend to everyone! 

Gumusluk merkezde denize sifir. Yemekler leziz ve fiyatlar uygun. Huzur dolu ve dogal bir tatil yeri arayan herkese oneririm! Kendimizi cok rahat ve huzurlu hissettigimiz bir tatil oldu.

Peaceful stay

This is a small, simple, friendly B&B directly on the beach.  It is 10 minutes from the centre of the town.  The rooms were very reasonable - we took the two bedroomed flat overlooking the beach.  Breakfast was good, and the supper was good and more reasonable than some of the other beachside restaurants.

Delight position straight on the beach

Arriba is clean nice and very friendly place. Early booking is a must and don't expect extension on your stay because this is place has many repeat guests. I recommend the sea food here. Find Mr. Ridvan the hotel manager and tell him what you need he will get it done. Arriba is definitely is good place to stay in Gumusluk. 

Gümüşlük days 

We have been coming here since 2005.

It is sooooooooo relaxing. Gumusluk has comparatively few foreign visitors, and that is a major plus. Forget the resorts like Bodrum or Turgutreis. The people are here for the peace, relaxation and excellent food and hospitality.

Arriba is basic, but what do you need on vacation? It is all about location - maybe 10m to the beach! Self catering is possible, but why bother - Arriba has a restaurant which is great for breakfast, lunch and snacks. It is okay in the evening, but in the centre of the port there are some outstanding fish restaurants - maybe not everyday, but alsmost everyday!

eleventh visit

Arriba is located right on the beach, with amazing views, dining (& full breakfast) at beachside shaded tables. Beach chairs for guests to use. Cottages are at the back of the restaurant, quiet & more basic cabin style accommodation, so if you want luxury, be prepared this isn't the case.

Beachside relaxation

Gumusluk is a lovely beach side, relaxing spot to stay. A place to swim and laze about all day if that's what you want to do. Arriba Apartments are in a great spot, but don't expect many comforts. We were there 3 days and never had any room service at all. The beds and pillows are very hard and with no top sheet, just a narrow cotton cover. The owners are lovely people, the breakfast wonderful, the food nice too. Lots of great family style restaurants, a little shopping and loads of character at the beach side area.

Very basic accommodation.

Could you imagine an hotel manager who forgot one night in the middle of your 2 week reservation and advising you to sleep on the beach for one night and come back the day after without any apology ? 
I guarantee it happened to me !
