I loved my stay here and always come back once I am in Chernivtsi. The location is perfect - you can’t even think of a better one (right at the quiet private backyard behind the main pedestrian street in the city center). It has the right vibe and makes a stay not fuss and enjoyable. Met a few great people here, the administration included. Recommend!

My favorite hostel in Chernivtsi 

I thought I might be getting too old to stay at a hostel, but I had a great experience here. The place is centrally located, but it is scary to walk back from the main st. alone in the dark. The location is great and the place is well marked. I could not check in at 2, when I was told I would be able to, but they held my luggage and arranged a (very expensive ) cab to get me to my location. The young couple who works the front desk is great! (the older guy - not so much - too busy to deal with customers).  The younger guy speaks good English. The hostel was spotless! Clean. I would have liked a key to my private double room, but I got a key to a roomy locker instead. The place was quiet and the people respected one another. The kitchen supplied everything that one could need. There were ample facilities, with bathrooms both downstairs and upstairs. The price was cheap and great value for money. The dog Ninja is adorable. Take slippers because you have to leave your shoes at the front desk and the floors are cold. I was able to change money here too, which others who were in town with me found more difficult. This place really change my mind about hostels - it is a very good one! I felt safe and very comfortable - even sleeping on a pull out sofa, I slept well.

much better than I expected!

I've stayed at over 100 hostels in South America and Europe and Like Hostel in Chernivtsi, Ukraine was easily one of my favorites. It has a couple very nice common rooms and a kitchen, with a good oven that can be used by guests. Its location in the city is also excellent, although it can be difficult to find at first.
     The prices are quite good and the owner knows English well. The staff is also helpful. It's kept very clean and has solid wifi. I liked Chernivtsi quite a bit and this hostel made it all the more enjoyable. I am sure I'll be returning in the future.

Very Nice and Homey Hostel

We traveled in a group of 5 and spend a night in Like Hostel. It's a clean, nice place located in a city center. Personnel is very friendly and helpful. They are decoration the yard with the flowers and it will be even more nice. Showers and toilets are clean, linens are clean. Good equipped kitchen and nice halls and resting room. Good wi-fi.
And the prices are really good. Location is excellent near the Olga Kobylyanskaya street - walking zone with cafe and shops. Highly recommend to stay in this hostel for budget travel.

Great Budget Lodging, great Personal, excellent location

I'm not sure what to think of this hostel. I wanted to like it but the staff made me rather uncomfortable. It felt more like they were hovering and inspecting my every move rather than genuinely concerned I was doing alright. Maybe it was the holiday season (I was there over New Years), maybe because of a language barrier, maybe this is the normal way, but I am entitled to write my review based on my experience and that's how I felt. 

The gate was locked when I arrived back for the official check-in at 2pm, despite having already talked to the person behind the desk, paid for my room, secured my bag and ensured I would be back at check-in time. What I found was a note with a phone number attached to the locked gate. I may be the anomaly here and perhaps one of the few in the world without a SIM card. This means I had to find someone who could make the call for me. A minor inconvenience, true, but one that shouldn't have to happen. I found out later this "guy behind the front desk" had asked all guests in the hostel to leave, as he had to leave, and to come back later, after 2 pm. I of course wasn't there and was unaware of this until later. Regardless, this is absolutely no way to treat paying guests at a hostel. The staff does not have the right to ask the guests to leave the property - in the cold - for hours just because he had somewhere to go. Apparently this wasn't the first time it happened and no doubt won't be the last. 

Having said all this, the hostel itself is decent. There are two bathrooms, two showers, good wifi speed, daily cleaning, and a kitchen with stove for cooking. The hostel is a few steps behind a building fronting the major pedestrian street, loaded with shops, eateries and coffee shops. Needless to say, there are many places to duck into to get out of the cold.

The little anti-watchdog, Ninja, is too cute and cuddly for words. I doubt he could hurt a fly.
