After finding the lantern house on booking.com we were very pleased with the accommodation. It provided a safe, clean place to spend a week in Cambridge. We were able to walk to the city center every day - only about a 20 minute walk away. Met a few of the long term residents as well as the owner and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend if I'm in Cambridge again.

Just what we needed

Our doughter booked for my housband and I a room for the weekend, ensuite, like all the rooms in the guesthouse.

When we got there we were pleased to find:
*A CLEAN, TIDY, COZY ROOM (NICE AND WARM)
*THE  TOILETTE WAS SPOTLESS, WELL EQUIPPED WITH FRESH TOWELS
*THE BED SMELLED OF CLEAN SHEETS
*VERY FRIENDLY STAFF AND WILLING TO HELP AT ANY TIME.

100% recommended and we'll definetly be back!

CLEAN, CHEAP & FRIENDLY.  WALKING DISTANCE TO CITY CENTRE

I stayed here with a friend over the weekend and had a nice relaxing stay. The staff are friendly the atmosphere relaxing. Its a basic guest house with clean rooms and bathrooms. While they dont do breakfasts they do provide cerial bread butter jam etc to make your own breakfast. Its a basic guest house but reasonably priced.

We needed a central base for a weekend in Cambridge with the challenge of it being affordable as we needed 3 separate rooms to accommodate our teens 
Failing to find an affordable Airb&b i nervously booked lanterns despite reviews .
Immediately able to park up for the weekend for free out the front we found 3 basic but very clean and comfortable rooms 
Yes the place is an 80s throwback , possibly the last time it was decorated 
Don’t look to closely especially in common areas but there we met lovely friendly people , the maintenance guy is lovely and so quick to help 
My children felt secure even though our rooms were scattered around 
Highly recommend if you want to enjoy a beautiful city and need a great value base

Cheap , safe and comfortable

After trying out a couple of places for the night in Cambridge, this one is the best. The room was clean, friendly staff, especially the owner, verry down to earth bloke. I staid in the room near the "kitchen" and it was really nice. 

The station is 35 minute walk, the nearest shopping centre is a 15 minute walk. With in a few minutes, you are near a couple of restaurants and pubs. 

I will be returning the next time when I'm in Cambridge. 


Great place to stay

Property was very clean but nothing like photos.  

Very convenient access to premises as I was given electronic codes for door locks.  I arrived in at 2am and didn't need to meet a member of staff.

Room 7 was situated next to rear door of property and room door was 4 foot opposite communal kitchen sink and kettle.

Suited my needs but I wouldn't choose to stay again.

Property was very clean but nothing like photos.

it was like been in prison if i had not paid upfront i would of left the room was very very small the bed well what can i say about the bed like sleeping on the floor i could here the man in the next room on both sides of me the shower was very bad if you can stop away from here please do so its bad and i have been in some bad digs in my time
