Great food and lovely staff. We visited for dinner on a Saturday evening with friends. The food was very good, plenty of choice and a specials option. The food was tasty and the staff were very helpful. Service is added to the bill. The atmosphere in the restaurant was just right. They have a private dining area for groups.

Great food, lovely staff.

I came here with a friend of mine for a couple of nights whilst we did 'The Octagon', a series of walks nearby. The room in which we stayed was in a row of cabins or converted outbuildings behind the main pub. All of the rooms are named after birds and the decoration shares the same theme. Our room was en-suite end very spacious, with a firm bed which I prefer. The actual pub/restaurant itself was very pleasant, the staff were good and as well as having brighter lighting in the restaurant there were darker tables which felt more like a normal country pub. There is a stove to the rear of the pub which wasn't lit when we were there but would be very agreeable in the winter.

The food was very good but we found the evening menu a bit too expensive so drove into Emsworth instead. The breakfast menu was really, really good and almost worth the trip alone. A cooked breakfast is £15 which seems a lot but they were happy to add extras e.g. black pudding free-of-charge.

There is plenty of parking outside and if you like that sort of thing Goodwood isn't too far away either. Apparently it's popular with the country-sports types but I wouldn't let that put you off too much. Either way we had a great couple of days, thanks.

Great for a Fancy Weekend

Only popped in here as we got lost looking for another pub but glad we did.Staff were very good and a shout out to George who loaned us his lighter.We didn’t eat this time around unless you count the pot of chips we had to go with our beers which were gorgeous skin on fat chips but we will be returning to sample the menu and update.

Lovely little pub

A wonderfully comfortable pub with delicious food.  There was an electricity cut-out while I was there so they moved me to another pub/hotel they own The Royal Oak in East Lavant with even more spacious accommodation.  So great service and delightful room (in both places).  I would recommend them without hesitation.

Imaginative decor and all you need.

Fabulous rooms (we opted for one with a copper bath), amazing decor throughout the restaurant and rooms, 5 star food and service in the restaurant and such accommodating and friendly staff. So dog friendly - our labrador was treated as a star guest also.

A sense of pure indulgence throughout

We were 3 couples and 2 dogs looking for the perfect venue for New Years Eve & we certainly found it. A 5mile circular walk from the pub meant we had earned the delicious evening meal in very festive surroundings. The rooms were small but very well kitted out with comfortable beds & decent showers. The staff were brilliant & the large number of guests there with their dogs gave us the excuse to meet people & see in the New Year in a very convivial atmosphere! 

Excellent New Years Eve

We spent the weekend with the dog at the White Horse and loved it. The pub itself is perfect - roaring fire, rugby on the TV, good selection of cask ales.

It was also entirely dog friendly, and so we brought ours everywhere with us. Food was exceptional and reasonably priced and the breakfasts were delicious and not too massive as they sometimes can be. 

Excellent wine list, including a lot of great English options. 

Also would be great for families as the list of activities is huge!

The platonic English country pub with rooms

Booked this last minute as I was away with work and needed somewhere to stay for the evening. The room was beautiful and clean, the bed is just about the comfiest I have ever slept in and it was all so peaceful and quiet. The pub attached is a traditional and welcoming place and the breakfast is to die for!!! I was gutted I had to leave the day after but will certainly be back. The service from Kat was amazing and I simply can not fault this place. Outstanding!!

Perfect in Every Way

Stayed here whilst working away and had a brilliant experience. All the staff are so welcoming and really lovely. Really nice pub, delicious food in the restaurant for dinner and for breakfast and the rooms were wonderful. Very clean, very nicely laid out. Great biscuits and cafetière coffee in the room. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone in the area. 

Great hotel and restaurant 

Called in to this amazing Country Pub and Restaurant on Saturday. It was the heart of the Rural Community and was welcoming to many visitors staying over for special occassions.

The Bar was vibrant, staff attentive, food and drinks devine.

If you are looking for fine dining in the countryside, food sourced locally and cooked with passion, or a retreat when walking in some of the best of our Countryside, this is a destination venue.
