We went there as a family for my granddaughter birthday as she was going on holiday the carvery meats were so under cooked especially the beef the rest had taken the beef but couldn’t eat it .the lady checking our table was excellent she took one of the meals to show the chef but out came what I assume was the duty manager whom insisted that there was nothing wrong with it that it was cooked correctly and it was the cut of meat it is and [ it is a protein} so shocked that I didn’t know that he was totally disinterested the blood was actually pooling on the plate I also contacted customer service but have had no contact from them.

We were greeted by Samoana on arrival who was most eager to ensure we had a good stay/time on our 1st visit to Edinburgh and is a credit to the hotel and tourism in Scotland.The hotel is clean and comfortable and perfect for sightseeing the city. Does it have a Wow factor, well no but at its price point it surpassed our expectations. The food is the same to me as any other Toby I've been to in the UK, buffet style, reasonable choice and well cooked. The excellent rating I've left is for overall stay we had per price paid at £ not £££ where more control of room temperature(slightly to warm) and fine dining would be expected together with that bit of Wow !
We'd definitely stay here again should we go back to Edinburgh.

Great place for Low cost weekend break in Edinburgh.

Food absolutely vile and staff rude and unprofessional………………………………………………………………………………………………………… avoid avoid avoid, oh did I say avoid………………….. I don’t think I merit but it would be better to avoid this cesspool and head to the carvery restaurant just a few minutes away

We visit this superb Edinburgh Restaurant  every three months and we find it incomparable.Few restaurants in Scotland’s capital can match the quality of food, range of meals, comfortable warm lounge, the ambiance cleanliness, prompt service and the affordable  menus.The staff are warm, accommodating and never intrusive.The carvery is second to none and, while most of us hate normally having “too much on our plate”, there is no danger of that here as Chefs  expertly carve  generous portions of the many roasts leaving you to pile up your Yorkshire’s,kilted sausages and huge range of succulent vegetables with gravy.There is a superb array  of vegan meals too.You sink into the new thick pile carpet as you return to your seat.The icing on the cake is the care and attention of the outstanding friendly helpful senior waitress Pamela aka Mrs Toby with her uncanny ability to recall   the names of her regulars and their preferences eg for the tasty puddings or wines.The toilets are clean, there is excellent parking, and you will wonder how they serve such treats at these prices!The bar is well stocked and caters for all tastes while you have limitless soft drinks.No one is counting!

Well what can I say.  Absolutely great food and very reasonably priced. The only thing to better the food and price was out waitress who was called Amie who was quite simply the best waitress I have encountered in all my years.  Polite funny professional and an absolute credit to the Toby carvery. Well done Amie top marks all the way and thanks for looking after us.

Great place to eat and amazing service

We have visited this carvery for more years than we care to remember. We have celebrated many family and friends birthdays  and anniversaries in this restaurant. We were bitterly disappointed however,  this evening, having booked a table and after enjoying a carvery meal to be asked by Dominic to vacate our table after being in for barely an hour, and sit in the bar as they were really busy with bookings. We were unaware that this new rule had been introduced and this should have been made clear when we were shown to our table. The booking system clearly needs to be upgraded as well to reflect this. We enjoy our trips to the carvery as we are pensioners and it is a treat for us but we will need to think again when it comes to our family celebrations.

I was met and shown to my table by Amie ,I went there from the marriott Hotel at Heriot ward campus for the Sunday Carvery,I thought your drink selection was great and your Carvery was excellent quality and tremendous value for money. Thankyou Toby and Amie

Sunday lunch

Great Hotel and Carvery. Bus stop right outside so easy links to the city centre. Staff were all friendly and very accommodating.  We enjoyed a couple of drinks, a carvery sandwich and a couple of sides all of which were really good. Thoroughly recommend the place. Thanks for looking after us!!

Great place to stay when visiting  Edinburgh 

Great hotel.  Lovely and clean with great beds. Food and bed area ideal. Close enough to Edinburgh which can be reached by bus with bus stop right outside if you don’t want to drive. Would definitely recommend

Stayed from Monday to Thursday at Toby Carvery West and it was such an easy and relaxing stay. All of the staff go out of their way to help with anything you need. Scott, Simona and Amie were all amazing and should be proud of their hard work. Would stay again!
