I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Art-House Morita – from the warm welcome, to the comfortable and cozy bedroom, delightful art collection, and delicious breakfasts.

John and Kozo were so helpful and charming, and they made my first visit to Edinburgh very memorable. They shared fascinating stories about the art collection and Scottish history, and provided excellent recommendations for local hiking trails and art galleries. 

In addition to serving the best B&B breakfasts I've ever had, they were very accommodating to my vegetarian and gluten-free dietary needs. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The location was great, too – an easy walk to Edinburgh Old Town (~20 minutes; there are also busses), near Holyrood Park, and good restaurants nearby. 

I cannot say enough good things about this place. I hope to return someday and highly recommend it!

Highly recommended!

We were warmly welcomed and the owners were so helpful and friendly. John told us all about the history of the charity (Victor Murphy Trust)  which contains many examples of Scottish Art such as paintings and various ceramic pieces which are all so eclectic and fascinating. Furthermore they also made us a delicious breakfast and were very accommodating to our dietary preferences. Would not hesitate to go back.

A wonderful stay

The hosts were warm, welcoming and accommodating - the house is incredibly eclectic and cosy - and breakfast was fabulous. Very much enjoyed my stay during a business trip, but would also stay there if visiting Edinburgh for personal reasons.

While the owners are helpful, this place is an absolute mess.  Every inch of wall space absolutely covered in dusty (what they call) art.  Curio cabinets abound with old nasty glassware.  The whole place smelled musty.   Crap everywhere.  No TV, no Wifi!!  Cobwebs in bedroom.  I even found a hair in my breakfast.  I was supposed to stay 3 nights and checked out after one.  Disgusting.  To be avoided at all costs.

UGH, stay away from this place

As a last minute booking, because my partner had still not been released from the hospital, I checked into the Art-House.  The bedrooms are filled with pictures and are nicely kept.  John was keen to tell me some of the history behind some of the paintings, the frames, pictures, and other ceramic pieces.  I had a good night's sleep and awoke to a scrumptious breakfast.  I could have stayed for a few more hours just to hear more history about the art, but I wanted to get back to the hospital to be close to my partner.  If you love art, and Scottish history, you'll love the stories from John and Kozo.
