This will be the best hotel review I've ever written. It will probably be the best review that I ever write.

Where to start? Kerry, the receptionist. Forget professional courtesy. There is no training course that exists anywhere, that could have imbibed an individual with such character, honesty and integrity. She was just, obviously, genuinely pleased to see us. Kerry is one of the main reasons why we will be spending thousands of pounds at this hotel in the future. I do hope that her employers will understand, that when they first contracted Kerry services, they gained a huge advantage over every other hotel on the island and will reward her accordingly.
The room. It was spectacular. The view from the balcony was overwhelmingly lovely and mesmerising. It commanded you to relax immediately. And we did. The bed had been crafted in Heaven by God's highest angels and the shower shot us through with a steamy purity that endowed us with super powers.
Everything was so clean. I mean polished. Every shelf, ornament, mirror, picture frame etc etc, looked like it had just been highly polished by a specially trained polisher. And whoever decided the colour palette should be awarded an MBE or whatever. It's a beautiful dusky marine blue, which you instantly want to dive into. We kept the window open at night to listen to the waves. Nestling into that divine bed, we were serenaded into sleep by the rhythmic pulse of the Atlantic ocean. Are you beginning to understand yet why our experience of the Albion Hotel was so superlative?
Suffice to say, we slept like Rip Van Winkle, woken to sunlight streaming through the half open curtains and the song of seagulls wheeling and diving against the enchanting rhythm of the waves.
Then to breakfast on the terrace. It had EVERYTHING! Fresh fruit, Yoghurt, Muesli, cereals, fruit juice, plus a comprehensive menu that included smoked salmon and smashed avocado!
However, it had to be the Full English. The Apocalyptic English. The, 'If this was your last meal ever, you'd still remember it in the grave' FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST!!!. You must know by now, that these things matter to me. I am still licking my lips, several hours later and I hope to be  (dementia permitting) explaining the brillance of this meal to my grand children, whence they are of an age to understand. And, we ate on a stunning sunlit  terrace, with sea birds wheeling and darting, waves lapping joyously and lots of fabulous swimmers splashing and whooping for joy.
So, we didn't want to leave, understandably. We snuck into the glamorous lounge after breakfast and sampled some of the delightfully eccentric tomes, particularly a double volume of 'Punch' from the 1800's. There was also a proper, large scale 'Staunton' chess set, which could have been the main focus of our whole visit.
Finally, all of the staff were simply wonderful and so eager to help. They really genuinely seemed to care that you were having the best time ever. And we did. And we intend to do that for a very long time to come. We're already booking a room for our son's birthday and a full five days stay for us , after our daughter's wedding.
Anyway, we're both twenty years younger now for staying here, so we'll be back. Forget Provence. Dispense with the Amalfi Coast. Eschew Venice. Spend your money at the Albion Hotel instead. It's an investment in your present and  future wellbeing. Nuff said.
Finally, I do hope that the owner/manager of the Albion Hotel, Freshwater reads this and shout aloud and punches the air and exclaims 'Yes!!!' Because, he/she is a purveyor of the utmost blessed joy, and they deserve to have a whole load of that bliss dumped back upon them. Which is why I wrote this.

The Best Hotel in the world. Ever!!!

I went for dinner with 2 friends and was very impressed.   The meal was delicious and piping hot.   The dining room was light and airy and had super views of Freshwater bay.   Although we didn't sit on the terrace, it would have been great to while away a few hours there..  There were lots of people on both the terrace and in the restaurant and the atmosphere was so relaxing.  The staff were very attentive and service was excellent.    Could not have wished for a better venue for our last night on holiday.

Super night with fabulous views.

We live on the Island and were very excited to experience the newly refurbished Albion Hotel. We were very fond of the original hotel but it needed some tender loving care. And wow! The transformation is extraordinary and exceeded our expectations.
The location is superb and the renovation and new dining room make the best of the location. Beautiful wrap around views.
A lovely welcome from Mark and Gail and the rest of the team. Nina was very attentive at the table.
Four of us had a long lunch with cocktails and nibbles. Great cocktails! Scrumptious nibbles. Starters Mains and Dessert all lovely. Well done. Even the coffee was excellent.
We will be back to stay but were very lucky to have a look at the rooms. They will not disappoint. Plenty of parking. Nice bar (with view) and library (with view) for guests which we didn't use.
There's an odd 1 star review left recently on Google by someone who perhaps just doesn't get it. The staff are trying so hard to get it right. It's also a new start up essentially and they did very very well. Don't be swayed by the peculiar review left recently.
We are already looking forward to going back!

We were very impressed with the refurbishment of what was previously a rather tired hotel. At last a really smart hotel  for visiting family and friends on the island. Love the colour scheme throughout, all very stylish, light and airy. We had a fabulous lunch with friends. We shared yummy cauliflower croquttes and sausage nibbles, followed by a goats cheese starter, tasty seafood linguine and I loved the cheesecake. The cocktails were brilliant too. All the staff were lovely, very friendly, helpful and attentive. Fabulous views from the ceiling to floor windows. We will definitely be going back. Thank you Mark and Gail, hope this place is a real success for you.

Fabulous Refurb

Firstly, the staff are amazing. From the desk to the restaurant the standard is attentive and high. Genuinely engaged people (It is so rare). The ambition of The Albion is huge but rightly so. Freshwater Bay is exclusive, quiet, fun and the views are dramatic. The fact that this exists in the UK is quite incredible. The rooms are cool. Well laid out, with everything you need, The beds are super comfy. The showers are superb. The setting is just magical. If you can get a coastal view go for it as it is breathtaking. We went on our wedding anniversary and the staff made it very special. We could not ask for more. Overall we were delighted and also surprised. Surprise and delight in equal measure. This is a rock star venue of a hotel with high attention to detail and guest satisfaction. You'll love it. We are coming back for sure in around 4 weeks because we enjoyed it so much. Top end, this is a gem, so far unfound in the Isle of Wight.

The Albion is perfectly placed,  right on the sea front so has amazing views of the ocean. 
  The staff team are all very helpful. Nothing seems too much. 
   The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean and comfy.  The bar is well stocked and the food is wonderful.

Superb Stay

I arrived to a warm welcome from Lisa on reception. The hotel was perfect, my room was comfortable and spotlessly clean
I was puzzled by poor reviews (some of which are quite old). Everything is explained in detail on the hotel website (including each day’s menus). So I can only assume that those who posted negative reviews had not done full research in advance and/or had unrealistic expectations.
My stay was absolutely fine.

Friendly Welcome

The Albion Hotel is right beside the sea. There is free parking. It is spacious and well appointed and has just been redecorated throughout in a traditional style. 
Our room was large and extremely comfortable. We enjoyed being able to use the swimming pool and jacuzzi.
We enjoyed having half board. Our breakfasts and dinners were good, tasty, and very generous.  The dining room took us back to childhood holidays in the 1950s!  The dinner menu changes daily. 
All the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Lee, who served all our meals, was delightful, making sure we enjoyed ourselves.
Our only regret about the holiday was that it came to an end. We hope we’ll be back!

Great three day break

This traditional hotel is situated in a beautiful but slightly remote location - great for the bay and the walk to the needles , but worth it to take the meal plan as no other restaurants nearby.This was very very good indeed although not a huge choice of menu options for dinner, we always found it very well presented and enjoyed it - you can’t go wrong with the cooked breakfast and the choice of meat or fish or vegan for dinner. We think Covid had limited the options . The room we had ( sea view double ) was a good size and the bathroom was huge .we sat on the balcony was beautiful to see sunsets and hear the sea. The room was very clean too. 
Reception explained that with Covid we would have to request towels changed or beds made ,the night prior but they would replenish tea and coffee daily . This was fine for us as we were a 3 night stay .
The hotel did have a lift and in general staff were exceptional but they were short of staff , hence often the bar was unmanned which stopped us buying drinks in the evening after dinner. Assume Covid related also . We did use the pool which was very clean and nice if a little small but would be great for a family swim . The jacuzzi temperature was cold though so not much fun to sit in. The hotel arranged the ferry at a reduced rate as we booked direct which was nice .

Beautiful location - exceptional staff

We really enjoyed our two night stay at this hotel generally . Great location with a balcony overlooking the bay . Large fairly standard room , linen and towels smelt amazing and bathroom spotless . 
My only complaint was that the package deal they offered ( £30 per person per day for breakfast and lunch ) was only available for the whole duration of your visit or not at all ,! After some discussion ( this would have cost us £120 ) we decided to opt for this , only to be told they were fully booked . It worked out okay and gave us more flexibility as we had a reasonably priced curry in the town , fish and chips on the beach by moonlight , and breakfast bits from Sainsbury's ( at this point a fridge in room would have been great for the smoothies and fruit pots ) for the grand sum of £50 !!, 
Overall a great stay and staff were helpful and obliging .
