My partner and I booked directly over the phone to spend 2nights at this reportedly wonderful bed and breakfast. Unfortunately, we were not advised of the full cancellation conditions at the time of booking . A deposit of £50 was taken against a bill of £200 , something which was NOT accepted behaviour in the terms and conditions of the booking . I asked the question whether the b and b had drying facilities and was told NO . Given that answer and the fact that the weather conditions were horrendous for the weekend, we sadly made the decision to try and postpone our stay . I telephoned Tracey and tried to rearrange our visit. I was told in no uncertain terms that postponing was the same as cancellation and I would be charged another £50 as it was now 50 percent of the total . My partner queried the fact that she was not abiding by her own terms and conditions as she should not have taken a deposit over the phone in the first place . 
To say we were very disappointed by her response was an understatement. We have lost £100 and so has she . What’s more is the fact that we would Not consider returning and I’m sure she probably wouldn’t want to see us either but she needs to look at her own behaviour and update her own terms and conditions. Rant over !!!!

Extremely disappointed

Stayed for 3 nights over New Years, and it was absolutely fab! Lovely clean rooms, comfy beds, really kind and accommodating owners and a delicious breakfast every morning. Highly recommended! Thank you very much!

Amazing New Year stay

Great guest house very friendly hosts. Good breakfast.  small single room but had everything I needed and it was cosy . Comfy bed and pillows slept well. Complimentary bottled water nice touch. Great location to town. The option of self check in if arriving earlier than 4pm was a great idea and appreciated it was very strait forward process to do this and not been offered this before in a guest house . Extra heater provided in my room was appreciated thanks. Will stay again in the future. 

Lovely stay at the Herdwick

We were at a conference in the Pencil Factory and Herdwick Guest House provided brilliant bed and breakfast accommodation. The bed was very comfortable, everything I needed was in my room and the breakfast was delicious!

Excellent bed and breakfast

My Fiancee and I stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night in September. It's a lovely guest house with parking nearby, friendly hosts, very nice breakfast  and a lovely room. They even got me some gluten free bread and goats milk because I'm high maintenance.

Lovely Place to Stay

I travelled solo and stayed a single en suite room. The room is small but the owners have been very creative and ensured that the space is maximised, it never felt cramped and had all that I needed. Having an en suite in a single room in that size house in Keswick is unusual, so it was a bargain for the price I paid. Breakfast was wonderful; substantial, well cooked with quality ingredients, best sausage I've ever tasted and perfectly poached egg. The house was immaculately clean. Andy and Tracey were great hosts. Self check in system is a good idea too. I will return and would definitely recommend to others 

Great breakfast

Stayed for two nights in November with friends. Perfect location, smack in the middle of Keswick on a quiet street, parked right outside too. Plenty of street parking available. Ideal for visiting the local area on foot and easy to get the bus further afield. We were lucky with the weather and took some stunning photos. This was my first time to the area, but I’ll definitely be going back, so much more to see.
Andy and Tracey are the perfect hosts, their local knowledge and recommendations were so helpful. The rooms are all en-suite and the bed was really comfortable. I slept so well, nice and quiet and a stunning view from the top floor rear room. No.5 I think. They have thought of everything, the little extras in the room, the boot trays etc.
Breakfast was amazing, all local produce, cooked to order, really sets you up for the day.
Thank you both for making our stay so memorable, hope to see you again in 2023.

Great location and lovely owners

We stayed here few weeks ago in room 3. After coming to Keswick every year since 2004 we glad we found this place. Andy met us for check in and straight away we felt at home.lovely friendly place with superb spacious room.very clean and comfy with great little luxuries like help yaself to milk and water in fridge downstairs..and as for the breakfast woo hoo best I’ve had up there to be honest..quite simply we loved it and will definitely be back next year. Thanks To you both for a lovely stay.will book directly with you next time and not Booking.com.cheers .10/10

Superb gem.

Centrally located for exploring Keswick on foot. Parking close to the guest house. Pubs and restaurants very close by but the road itself is very peaceful at night. Comfortable room and great facilities. We were on the top floor with a view of Blencathra. Great choice for breakfast and beautifully cooked to order. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend.

Perfect stay

We stayed at the Herdwick for 3 nights.
We had the top room it was perfect for the view. We had Catbells as our morning view.
Tracey and Andy couldn’t be anymore accommodating.
The place was spotless, very comfortable bed and the breakfast was so amazing we never had lunch. 
Great knowledge of places to go.
Market on a Saturday was lovely.
Highly recommend.

Only one negative and that is absolutely nothing to do with accommodation: PARKING: total nightmare, be prepared to drive around a bit looking for a spot. 

If you plan to eat out booking in advance is highly recommended. Not whilst you are there, but before you actually set off 😊
