This is a lovely small hotel; wonderful public rooms and sleeping rooms.  Both of our Christmas weekends were great; cocktails in the library and dinner among “friends” - that is what it seemed like.  Food was outstanding, including the picnic lunches for the Boxing Day races at Newton Abbot.  We are looking forward to returning later this year.🍾👍

Just a short note to pass on my thanks following our wonderful stay last weekend. 
When we arrived in the torrential rain of Storm Dennis, we were given a wonderfully warm welcome, while our young pooch had plenty of fuss and cuddles from the front desk team.
The hotel was far from full (and thankfully no wedding event), so after a bracing walk in your gardens, we quickly settled into the relative tranquillity of the lounge beside a roaring log fire.  Having feasted on a very Instagram-able High Tea, we settled into the cosy bar for drinks,  before enjoying our “dining with your dog” option. Even night porter (John?) made a fuss when we got up early to let the dog out - nothing was too much trouble. 
Poppy loved every minute of her stay – details like towels for mucky pup after our blowy walk, to the welcome note for pampered pooch, but the tennis ball in the room and the breakfast bacon had the bow-wow factor.
Overall, the staff delivered an individual, distinctive and memorable experience, or in my wife’s words it was “doggie and human heaven”.  For the service alone, we’ll certainly be back, and next time, we’ll have the taster menu and stay for longer.

Doggie & Human heaven - with a bow-wow factor

We stayed over at Buckland Tout Saints on Valentine's Day. The service and food was fantastic. We were in a superior double (room 2) and had a great sleep. Sadly we had to cut our stay in Kingsbridge short on account of Storm Dennis but we will definitely return to this lovely tranquil hotel!

Lovely tranquil hotel perfect for couples

We booked this break away with Pets Pyjamas as we wanted to go away with our Labrador. We can't think of a fault. On entering the reception the staff welcomed our dog by his name before we introduced ourselves and made a fuss of him (sometimes we feel places tolerate dogs but here the staff spoilt him rotten). 
Our room was to the back of the property - it was large, warm and comfortable. 
Food - all lovely, good size.
Staff - friendly, helpful and welcoming
Hotel - beautifully situated, lovely old building and very clean
Will look to return soon

Anniversary weekend away with Dog

The staff, venue and food were absolutely incredible. The rooms are all gorgeous and well appointed, with ESPA toiletries. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they made my sister and brother-in-laws wedding an absolute dream. I cannot praise them enough for how much they did for us and we are incredibly grateful to the whole team.

Such a lovely hotel who made our two cocker spaniels feel so welcome! We can’t wait to go back! Our boys had a treat waiting in their room and were treated like royalty! The dinner was also delicious!

Holiday

I hate driving on the English country laneways where they were built for horse and cart going in one direction only so I was quite annoyed with my GPS taking me off fairly avery size roads to then have to travel for a long way on the lanes I did to get to the hotel but it was well worth it.

The hotel and the grounds are lovely.  The room I had was really stylish and had all the mod conns except for a failed Wi-Fi system because the internet was down.  There is no lift in this hotel which means if you are on the floor it is quite a chore to get your bags up.

The breakfast was beautiful.  I had salmon with scrambled eggs and I must say the presentation was beautiful not to mention that the food tasted great.  I would say on my whole month long trip this is the best breakfast I have had.

The location was very isolated and weather terrible we had a very nice room although a little cold this was a part present  the lounge fire was  nearly out all the tlme staff very helpful the romantic weekend was not as good as we expected  very limited menu and the same both nights the food was good would of liked more choice. Many hiden extras on bill read small print

Our wedding anniversary and valentine 2020

Nice location when you get to it, lanes very narrow and dirty when wet, don't take a special car, 4x4 best. You need good legs, as no lift, especially if you are on the top floor, stand room OK, TV choice poor, and no internet on our visit, bottle water daily in the room, nice soaps etc, plus dressing gowns, shower over the bath in our room, watch out when using it, as water can go all over the place, need a glass screen. Good breakfast choice, and your dog can eat with you, and they all get a sausage for breakfast to, also water always available, and towels t dry them off, plus pooh bags, and bins for disposal, parking is a bit tight at times.

DOGS are very welcome

Spent 4 nights here during the summer with our dog. Booked through Pets Pyjamas on a package deal B&B, an afternoon tea and a dinner for 2. Overall we had a lovely break. 
The grounds are nice, you can park out the front. The hotel is located along a very very narrow & windy lane with high hedges and blind bends - but once you've braved that and you arrive - it's worth the trouble. The hotel is a bit tired in places, our superior room was large and comfortable but the bathroom was very tired in need of modernisation and tiny - like a corridor. The food was very good there are 2 places to eat in the bar of you have your dog or the restaurant if you don't . There are 2 menus as well - we were only offered the a la cart until the last night when we moved dining room and were offered a different menu with more variety and less expensive ! We were never offered the choice - so make sure you ask. 
Would I go back - maybe. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food good, the location was a good base for local beaches and other eatery choices for lunch - Salcombe is lovely. We enjoyed our stay but felt a little ripped off over the food and the way the bill was broken down it was hard to track
