Location was excellent but this is about the hotel itself and not where it's situated.
Room was a good size but double beds were very small.  
Bathroom (well there wasn't one) ... there was a shower cubicle to the right and to the left behind a door there was a toilet and wash hand basin - absolutely tiny area !  The shower/toilet facilities were like something from the 1970's and in dire need of upgrading.  No lift in hotel and stairs very narrow and steep.
Breakfast room was tiny and very congested.  Basic breakfast- orange juice, cereal, brown or white bread and processed ham & cheese.  
Would not recommend it !

3 night stay for 2 adults 2 kids this month

The positive:

The negative: 
- size of the bathroom and the size of the beds

The bed was ridiculously small. I think it was a small double but it’s tiny even for two slim persons. The bathroom was clean but there wasn’t even room far a real basin. So everything else than brushing your teeth was out of question. 
The breakfast consisted of two types of cereal, milk and plain yogurt. Toast and packed ham and cheese, jam, nutella and butter. Coffe, tea and orange juice. No eggs, no bacon, no sausage basically nothing cooked.

If you’re looking for just a place to sleep and in a good location on budget go for it. Otherwise choose something else.

Great location and price but not much else 

A nice welcome at check in. The stairs at the hotel are fairly steep and very narrow and a hard slog to the 4th floor.
The breakfast was very disappointing to say the least a few slices of processed ham and processed cheese,cereal and toast and that's it hardly a need to be freshly prepared by a chef as it says on the blackboard in the breakfast room.I have stayed here before bur i will not be back.

2 night stay

This hotel is in a great location in Paddington. The Paddington underground station is just a few steps away which will connect you quickly to pretty much anywhere in the city. The location is well furnished however the rooms can be a little small especially when we booked a family room to sleep 3. In our room the bathroom was cramped but a great use of space though. Accessibility to the floors is limited as there is no lift and some of the stairs can be a challenge after a long day in the city.
When booking the hotel I was looking at some of the images and reviews here on TripAdvisor and it shows a cooked breakfast, however only a continental breakfast was offered. Perhaps just an update is needed.
Although it was a great stay and provided us with some great food nearby.

Good stay

I booked this hotel at the last minute and paid £176 for a room in December 2019. The hotel felt secure and i especially well-lit both outside and inside. It is in a series of connected town houses, so the layout is a compromise. Whilst clean and immaculate the en-suite shower room was tiny. The room was fine, but in no sense luxurious. I'd stay here if you want an adequate hotel within 2 minutes' walk of Paddington Station.

Great location for Paddington Station

The hotel had a perfect location - 2 minutes from Paddington st. The hotel is slightly run down but quite average when it comes to London hotels. The room was clean but the bathroom was tiny! Luckily I'm a small person but a larger person might struggle to fit in the shower.

Great location, basic hotel

This is my first time in London. Great city by-the-way and great people and when I arrived at The Cardiff Hotel I was greeted by the very friendly and helpful Agnes & Jola who checked me in quick. There is a great breakfast in the morning free of charge. The room was big enough for two people and I really liked the newly remodeled bathroom. Plenty of hot water from the shower. The beds were super comfortable and the comforter was nice and heavy just like I prefer. I was downstairs where it is really quiet and the room was warm but not so much that it was drying my skin out. This hotel is right in the middle of all the action. Really close to train and tube stations and close to the West End, Soho, Mayfair and most all of London is accessible via tube from this section which is called Paddington. Lots of stores if you forgot something, pubs, restaurants, all within seconds of the door. Easy to get in and out of hotel all made this a wonderful experience. I'm going to try to extend my stay. Be sure to say hello to the very helpful Agnes and Jola if you see them!

What a Lovely Place To Stay!

So the positives first.  The Cardiff is really convenient for Paddington Station and there are plenty of decent eateries nearby.  The breakfast room is light and airy despite being in the basement.  The reception staff are friendly.

BUT

If you happen to be allocated a room higher up the hotel be warned not only is there no lift, but the stairs are steep, narrow pitched and by the time you get to the fourth floor not particularly safe.  I wouldn’t want to be carrying a suitcase up there, especially as there is no handrail.

My room (37) was pokey but fairly clean.  Very basic, only one bedside table, limited hanging space and any sense of a place to put a toothbrush in the bathroom usurped by a monstrous mirror rather than a basic shelf.

Decor was very tired with all the walks well marked and what appeared to be either coffee or blood marks on one wall.  Quite how either got up there I dread to think.

The shower is a mere trickle as is normal high up in older buildings, there is no pressure.

However by far the worst aspects of Room 37 are; 
- the single glazed window which has daylight visible around the frame.  On my last night sleep was elusive despite sticking a jumper on for the wind was up and it forces freezing fresh air down on the headboard of the,
- appalling bed.  I say bed, think more a lumpy hammock.  No danger of rolling out of the bed, more a challenge to get out at all.  The mattress was probably the worst I’ve ever suffered.  Never again.

And just to add insult to injury, on that last night the boiler went offline meaning no heating and NO HOT WATER in the morning.

I was out as soon as I could.  Not recommended even at the price.

Oh dear...

Great hotel, very friendly. Basic breakfast as described. Room was clean tidy and adequate for our needs. Our only negatives were the spot light outside lighting up the hotel did light up the room all night, and no lock on the bathroom door but those aside it was a great find. Location to the tube line was great with restaurants, shops and a few bars. We will stay here again.

Great Hotel

Paddington is full of cheap hotels. I've stayed in many and this is the best (except no lift).Great value, very close to the station, Clean, Great rooms. Decent breakfast. There are some absolte dives around - this place is good. I'll stay there from now on. Especially good if you like walking up lots of stairs).
