Stayed for 3 nights at the Holliers as part of a coach trip . Situated in the picturesque village of Shanklin with all its thatched roofs . Don’t think the new owners have been in the place very long and they certainly put the hours in ! Personally however we feel they need to try and get the basics right ! It is certainly in need of a good makeover and the general cleanliness is below average . The food varied from poor to excellent ! I would probably suggest they stick to the carvery we were served one night…very very good !  There was also nightly entertainment in the form of different singers…not our cup of tea but seemed to go down well with most of the residents . Reckon the coach trips are their bread and butter but definitely need to up their game so as not to lose them…not sure in the number of complaints but feel it is quite high .

Great hotel lovely surroundings good choice of food,very clean rooms,staff fantastic, we would be happy to recommend to family and friends we will be returning even carried my really heavy and I mean heavy (butterfly) suitcase down for me

Great experience

Nice friendly place ,room was clean and nice bed but the the place need a lot of repairs I.e very dated,carvery is good and good value for money will be a very nice place when works carried out ,for what they charge to stay there you can’t really complain

Holliers hotel isle of wight

Went to this Hotel on a coach trip.  Nicely situated in Shanklin village.  Public rooms look fairly recently decorated but the bedrooms and bathrooms all need complete renovation.  Couldn't open bedroom or bathroom windows.  Stuck with layers of paint and.mold.
Rooms very small. Evening meal food a bit school dinnerish.  No fruit or pastries available at breakfast, cereal and cooked breakfast the only option. Staff friendly and do what they can with what is available.  Hotel info says 2 pools.  Inside one is apparently condemned and outside one is not much of an improvement.  Would certainly not like to use it in current state.
Hotel needs complete renovation.

Coach trip

there was lack of maintenance, could not reduce heat of radiator, my wife and I had to sleep on top of the bed. because it was too hot to sleep in the bed, also there was wood rot in the room.
the food was awful,  all of the family ate out at pubs for the duration of our stay.

My Husband is impaired, and I am aware of stairs and other obstacles.
The steps on the outside to the Entrance, were not always lit.
plus, by rights, should have either Yellow paint, on the edges to highlight the edges.my Farther also could not see where the edges.
nearly fell into the path.
when you come into the Building, the first thing  I noticed was the Dirty smell.
I am a cleaner by trade, I know cooking smells from Dirt.
we ate out for evening meals, we could not chance anything.
The trips out, really enjoyed it, but, did not want to come back to the Hotel.
we were glad when the last Day came.
This trip cost us alot more Money because we had to eat out for our  Evening meals.

poor food and sub-standard accommodation

Just arrived home, and wish to thank every one at the Holiers for the effort they put into making our stay a pleasure.
The hotel is on the up, and we wish the owners our very best with their future plans.
We have had very good weekend, the weather certainly helped, as did  our coach driver Luke.

A very pleasant good value weekend 

This Holliers Hotel is very tired. A Very grubby bedroom,Mould on windows ,Smells from bathroom unbearable,shower awful.Loo did not flush properly,No loo brush,,Food just awful,not much choice,No fried eggs,just milkly scrambled Eggs & other Food cold ,& cold plates,cramped tables & share with other guest.Poor seating arrangements in lounge,much too bright lights,no ambience,Last year here was better food.Ham eggs & chips  just not acceptable just like Transport cafe food.
I wont ever come back here.

Poor Hotel in need of big improvements

The room was really filthy with dust and mould around the windows and on the skirting boards. The bathroom was dirty and mouldy and toilet seat chipped and not cleaned from previous occupant. The carpet had not been vacuumed . I bought anti bac wipes and cleaned what I could having asked to be moved but no other rooms were available. Shabby is one thing dirt is not acceptable. Food was mediocre, staff were friendly but again could be smarter. Not my best weekend break!

First impression, Needing the loo the minute I arrived I was horrified to see dried on faeces in the toilet from the guests before! The whole bathroom was extremely grubby, dirt accumulated over months, could do with a couple of hours deep cleaning. Amazingly the towels were beautifully white and fluffy.
The bedroom itself was spacious but with huge stained in the carpet and accumulated dust and mould inside the windows. The bed was very saggy, although the bedding was lovely crisp and white I didn’t dare look at the duvet or flat pillows inside for fear they continued to be as grubby as everywhere else
The buffet English breakfast was good. The evening meal ordered at breakfast was OKish. The Sunday Carvery was very good.
All the staff were lovely, polite and helpful and the lovely owner was obviously doing her best but this is a monumental project she has taken on. With a bit more organisation she can make this place good again.

Grubby

Comfortable bed, sensible sized TV. Plenty of storage space. Small but well provided bathroom. Clean tidy and well decorated room. We were all on a coach tour and enjoyed a great English breakfast each day a a good 3 course evening meal. Bar prices sensible. 
An older hotel but overall well maintained
