I have been to this hotel recently but Not liked it. There is No facilities in this hotel.
Would Not visit again. There is No breakfast. No kitchen facilities and even No water.The check out time is very early.Not convience for the family stay.

Clean and pleasant, although dated. Peter was very kind and gifted my son some chocolate biscuits and a little toy upon leaving. He also upgraded us to a sea view room as we was checking in. No complaints. Although breakfast is not included in the price. Good location too. 

Pleasant stay.

I’m very pleased to say I didn’t have the pleasure of staying in this hotel but from what I have read it’s gross anyway! 
I was desperate for a room in Hastings as it was an emotional weekend for me spreading my mums ashes and I needed more time. I found availability online but phoned to ask when was the latest I could check in.  Before I could even ask the question, Peter rudely put the phone down on me saying he could not help. No explanation or anything. I was in shock at how rude he was. I phoned back again because I didn’t want to book online to find out there were no rooms. Again, he put the phone down before I could speak. I was upset by this so wrote an email explaining my situation and that I didn’t understand the reason for hanging up? He replied back with a sarcastic and belittling email that infuriated me. How does this man own a hotel? Zero customer service skills and sounds like he rips people off! I’m glad I never stayed here but people need to know,  this Peter is a nasty piece of work. Do not trust him!

Disgusting behaviour Peter Mann

My friend has just been horribly ripped off by this creepy man. She has been staying with me and wanted to stay longer in St Leonards so walked in to the Grand and was offered a room, paid upfront ? not normal. When she came back and told me I offered her a longer stay. She has just asked to cancel her booking, within an hour of booking and Peter Mann has taken over £200 in cancellation fee. Disgusting - she is vulnerable with a terminal illness. Do not stay here!

Vulnerable lady ripped off by Peter Mann

Horrible place, smelt old and aged, wanted to vacuum the place myself but at 80yrs old did not have the energy. Had come away for a 2 night  birthday break for my 85yr old husband. We could not stay not only for hygiene reasons, due to cancer treatment but it was awful. Paid up front by card which I am now told by my family was a stupid thing to do.  Owner would not reimburse us, was very weird and offered a credit for when we wanted to stay another time !!! you are joking me. A very horrible experience and made me rather distressed that I had been a 'mug'  £90 a night and no food! . Also realised looking back on the computer the pictures do not tally with the premises and I noticed that they were taken 5 years ago.

2 night break between my husband's cancer treatment

No hot water no shower kettle not working place filthy no parking. Misnomer to call it a hotel . Owner creepy, not user friendly, no wheelchair access . Completely cavalier attitude, better conditions in prison.

Worst hotel

I do not recommend this place to anyone, very dated. No food. The worst experience ever.  No lifts smells of old, has not been decorated since the 70s. Not for a family. No food, no lifts I was so horrified I  wanted to stay somewhere else and it wasn't cheap either

Never again

Stayed at the Grand for 1 night. Location was amazing, on the sea front! Owner was very eccentric and may not be to everyone’s tastes - certainly not if you’re trying to check in in a hurry! We were asked several times if we were smokers which luckily we weren’t as it seems the owner frowns upon it. 

The hotel itself is certainly very old school and in need of refurbishment. I couldn’t fault the cleanliness but the amenities were very basic and the room had a strong musty smell which was quite overpowering. The beds weren’t comfortable and the bedding was not what you’d expect to see at a hotel. I think with some upgrades to bedding and mattresses, the rooms would be so much improved.

Bathroom was very basic and had a small airer to hang the towels on - I think a fixed rail could’ve just improved the quality of the room. Our toilet seat was also chipped and stained which was a shame.

I would unfortunately only recommend this hotel if you’re planning on spending the majority of your stay outside of the hotel and just need a place to sleep.

Unfortunately not the most comfortable hotel

Booked at last minute for a very reasonable price and there were some mixed reviews online so wasn't sure what to expect. I spoke to the owner on the phone to confirm my booking the day before and he turned out to be quite the character! The hotel itself is an old building and has a very dated style of décor, but there isn't actually anything wrong with this, it's obviously the style of the owner. Everything was quite antiquated in fact as I had to sign a guest book and got a hand written receipt.

I had booked a family en-suite room and it was spotlessly clean and fairly comfortable, although the mattress was far too hard for my liking. The only thing wrong with the room was the absolutely ancient 4:3 ratio TV that made everything we watched look like it was being played back from a very worn VHS video. They really should replace it. There was Wi-Fi though, which was kind of unexpected.

There was plenty of street parking (max 2 hours 8am-6pm) and one disabled spot right outside, which was always being used, so you do have to keep moving your car if you are hanging around. Wasn't a problem for us as we were visiting different places. 

Overall the hotel is quite dated, but it's good value and very clean, so I would definitely stay there again.

Dated but Delightful

We stayed with our saucepan lids before a break to avoid traffic at bank holiday. The foreign fridge freezer on reception seemed a diamond but took the whelk 5 minutes just to open a door with our rooms keys in. He also said if you need
to park go left and you will find a square. The “square” was a small circle with 13 space all were taken, so had to walk 10 minutes and pay for overnight Public Parking. The actual room had a damp smell and 70’s style decor. The same smell was in the lounge with spider plants and flies everywhere. We booked a family room which was described as having a fridge. There was no fridge but it did have a smelly flat old cushion to sit on while you make a cup of tea from a kettle that would have been purchased the last time the UK won the Eurovision Song Contest.

No bar, no breakfast, no point !
