best place to stay in millom

We discovered this gem late on in our holiday and were quite sad about that as we would have loved to go back. This was by far the friendliest place with the best food in the whole area (we had eaten at about 4 other places and been a little disappointed by all of them). The food here was amazing, good quality and plenty of it. The staff were very friendly and professional offering advice on what to do. If ever we are in this area again we will definitely be coming back to sample more of the menu!

Best place in Millom

What we wanted and needed was basic lodging at a good price, and we were more than satisfied with Plough Inn. 
 The room was clean and comfortable.  Everything worked well.  The best thing about our stay, however, was the owner, who was very friendly, helpful beyond expectation, and accommodating of our schedule.  The breakfasts are also massive, freshly cooked to order, and will definitely get one through to dinner time.  We also ate dinner here and were totally satisfied.  The menu has more variety than most restaurants; the food was well-prepared and tasty and didn't taste like any of it came from some pre-prepared box or tin or plastic container.  By the way, even though our room faced the street, we weren't at all bothered by traffic noise at night -- the street is small.  It's nice to be able to park right in front of the inn at no cost.

The Plough Inn is in Millom.  This is where we needed to be anyway, but be aware that it is *not* in the Lake District as such, and if your goal is Windermere, Plough Inn would be good if you're on the way there, but not if you plan to go back and forth.  This doesn't at all detract from the excellent value for money of Plough Inn, since it is, after all, in Millom. The only thing I would suggest as an improvement in the room, for our purposes, would be at least one chair.   



Excellent value for money with good food

We visited the Lake District to celebrate a birthday as well as a holiday so we’re looking for somewhere to have a birthday meal. Having tried a few hostelries we popped into The Plough. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, even arranging to get T bone steak to order. Food was excellent as was the service. If I’m up in the Lake District again I will definitely pop back

Great food & service 

A large, youth - oriented pub in Millom, located off the beaten track and with an excellent restaurant off the bar serving predominantly english style food. The menu covers pies, grills, fish ec, and the main ingredients and sides are, in the main, locally sourced and fresh. all of our meals were tasty, well presented and certainly large.
Service was attentive but not intrusive, and the bar offered a good range of local ales to accompany the food. Prices were very reasonable, especially for the steaks and fish items.
A venue that is well worth seeking out, and which will not disappoint.

A Western Lakes Watering Hole that is well worth seeking out.

Stayed here on a B&B bases whilst walking the Cumbria Coastal Path and found the rooms clean, very comforatable and well appointed. Don't be deceived by the exterior of the pub as its not too appealing, however the accomodation, bar and food service was very good.

GREAT ACCOMODATION

I attended here for work and the room was big enough for one, a standard double in a small room. Hot shower and plenty of coffee. I agree with another review a chair would have been useful. The food was great, we could not finish it all and definitely could not try a pudding.  A great gin and tonic to finish but they closed fairly early around 22:00. the downside as I was working was no Wifi signal. There were 2 codes in the room but neither would connect. If you were away on holiday it maybe was not a problem, but as I had reports to send out this was a problem for the me as a worker.  The staff downstairs were very nice, but not at all concerned there was no wifi. A blemish on an otherwise very good stay. The breakfast Omelette was gorgeous with just the right amount of chat form the male morning staff.
