My wife and I stayed at Norlande for three nights during a recent visit to Shetland. Amanda was a great host, welcoming us on arrival and filling us in on the amenities provided. Our room (Northern Lights) was simply stunning. Beautifully decorated, clean, and fantastically well-presented. Our four-poster bed was equally comfortable, and the bathroom was warm, and welcoming (something we needed after a long and stormy journey on the ferry!)

Amanda gave us a few pointers as to things we could do during our visit, and provided some useful information about life in Lerwick when we asked about the town and surrounding areas. We spent most of the weekend out and about, at Bressay Up Helly Aa or mud plugging across the moors, and every time we returned to our room, it was spotlessly made up. The little hampers of food were lovely, and were a great way to start the day (and sometimes finish it).

Overall, a fantastic place to stay with a lovely host. Highly recommended!

A great place to stay, with a welcoming host!

Had great stay at Norlande. I had a tiny room, but i knew that in advance. It had all I needed as a base for my exploration of the Shetlands. Very comfortable bed. And I became very fond of the wee bird that chirped outside my window.

Great host Amanda, who was very informed and plesant. Got fresh breakfast deliverd in the room every day. Very good bed, Nice and tidy room. Very cute chickens in the garden. A short walk to everything in Lerwick.  No disturbance at all

Amanda and family are great and can't do enough for their guests. A lovely little wicker picnic basket of breakfast goodies wi
as well as yoghurt orange juice butter and preserves  in the fridge replenished every day for you to have breakfast at your leisure in your room. Great idea.

Rooms have a toaster, fridge, microwave and capsule coffee maker as well as the usual kettle and tea / coffee supplies.

As an added bonus for visitors to the annual Folk Festival it's within sight of the festival club and very central.  Great powerful shower also and everything absolutely spotless. A credit to Shetland and would highly recommend.

Fabulous Friendly Guest House

The  accommodation is in a good location in Lerwick. It is within easy reach of restaurants and supermarkets. The room was cosy and had everything I needed and was very clean. I received a very warm welcome from the owner and would recommend Norlande to anyone.

Great place to stay

Our host, Amanda, could not have been more helpful or hospitable. Given the covid restrictions, she was able to set up the room so that we were able to have breakfast in our room. The room was so comfortable and clean. The location was great with the main town centre on your doorstep and short walk from the Ferry Terminal. Amanda's passion and knowledge of Shetland was invaluable and she was always on hand with tips and advice. We are coming back to Shetland and, without question, we will be staying here again! Thank you Amanda! And see you again soon!

Amazing Host, Amazing Location, Amazing Guest House

I had a very enjoyable stay in an attic room for a solo traveller.  I was made most welcome by the owner's mother.  The accommodation was small but this was reflected in the price. I spent six nights there.  It was comfortable, clean and I had a breakfast basket changed each day. I ate in my room.   On the last morning I was kindly taken to the ferry with my heavy luggage.  I recommend this accommodation.

Visit to Lerwick mid-August 2019

Easy to find, a short walk to the center of Lerwick, a very friendly and personable host/owner, Amanda, and a lovely room !
The bed was super comfortable, and you serve yourself breakfast (provided by Amanda) in your room, that has a small fridge and micro, etc. It was a great stay, and we would definitely come back, should our travels take us back to Lerwick  one day !

A great place !

Stayed here twice during my Shetland trip, either side of a few days in Unst. Wonderful place. Clean, comfortable, and Amanda, the owner is lovely. Super friendly, and can't do enough to make sure her guests have a lovely time. The family room I stayed in was gorgeous. Super comfy bed. Huge flat screen TV. Lovely bathroom with lovely hot shower, and Jack and Jill sinks. Hairdryer, and straighteners available in the room for guest use too ... I've never seen hair straighteners provided anywhere before. Not even in fancy hotels. Breakfast is on a continental basis, and taken in your room. There was a good selection of cereals, porridge, juice, bread, pastries, preserves, and lots of tea coffee and hot chocolate sachets. In the family room I also had mints, chocolates, and a small bottle of wine provided which was a lovely touch :) I really enjoyed my stay with Amanda at Ald Norlande and would love to visit again some time in the future.

Shetland trip

My husband and I spent 5 days on Shetland recently and our accommodation was outstanding. Amanda was warm and welcoming and could not have done more for us. We were less than a 5 minute walk to the town centre. We were given a lovely selection for breakfast and Amanda made sure we had everything that we needed. Highly recommend you stay when visiting Lerwick !!
