Great food again 2nd time here for food had a Christmas meal with friends great meal and staff were very friendly nothing was to much for them ask for something and got thanks for a great meal nice and hot

6 of us went here for a family dinner and were greeted with a friendly smile!
Our waitress was really helpful and friendly,food was delicious and my wife enjoyed a cocktail will definitely return when we come back up to see our family which hopefully will be soon!

Family Lunch

Travelled from London Saturday 28/10/‘23 , there were 15 in total in our party booked in overnight as we attending family gathering nearby,, I had pre booked lunch table 1.30pm, originally for 5, staff assured wasn’t a problem to include further unexpected 3 guests , food, service excellent , there is parking at side of the pub,  the rooms comfortable, clean, next morning breakfast was exceptional, after breakfast as our party bid farewell to each other, a female staff kindly showed myself and hubby around the venue, pointing out various items /ornaments for sale, thank you to all the staff at The Anchor , I would highly recommend a visit to dine/stay 

Excellent stay 28/10/‘23

Had an amazing carvery here last Sunday great value for money .
Lovely choice of meats and veg all cooked lovely and very hot which is rare for carvery's.
Condiments were plentiful as well.
Desserts were very yummy .
Staff lovely and friendly 
Highly recommend if you want a top class roast dinner.

Excellent lunch

Whilst on a group visit to the area 6 of us set off looking for a walk in evening meal. Saw this pub which at first look didn't really impress us. On entering and asking if they could accommodate 6 of us they showed us into the dining room. This was quite impressive and everything got better from there onwards. The service was excellent without being intrusive, and all 6 of us really enjoyed out food (2 Hunters Chicken, 2 lamb shanks, a Ceaser salad and 1 Liver and onions). Every part of each plate was really tasty.
Some banter with a waitress over a dropped knife just added to the evening.
Absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Anchor.

Don't judge from the outside.

My husband and I stayed for a weekend with our dog. The staff were fantastic, so friendly and welcoming.  The local people we met were just as friendly and our dog was in her element with all the attention she received.  
The food was fantastic and we thoroughly  enjoyed a steak dinner.  Good quality  meat and cooked to our liking. 
The cooked breakfast was as expected, what a treat.
It really was the staff that made our visit so rememberable - our Rosie was so well looked after as the staff ensured she enjoyed the food as much as we did.

Friendly and welcoming staff

I visited on Saturday evening with my grandson who had been promised a fish and chip supper. This wasn’t on the kids menu so I asked if they could do one. It was no trouble and both of us had the tastiest, non greasy supper big enough for both of our appetites.  The service was impeccable and I will definitely come back each time I stay at the caravan park across the lake (a 5 minute walk away). Good tasty food, excellent service and very reasonable prices.

So accommodating

The Anchor Inn is a lovely family run guest house. All the staff were friendly and professional. We stayed for 1 week and decided to extend for an additional night, due to the fantastic experience. Breakfast was amazing, a tasty feast every morning. Hubby loved his full English breakfast, sausages were good quality. Our room was clean and tidy, fresh towels everyday. The restaurant is known locally for it’s Carvery every Wednesday & Sunday, luckily we had the opportunity to try for our selves, thumbs up from us. We had dinner in the restaurant a few nights, plenty to choose from on their menu, catering for everyone’s needs. We recommend the Steak & Lamb shank, very tasty. They also have regular entertainment, where you can meet the locals and get involved in their community. Short drive to King’s Lynn & Wisbech, perfect location. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Highly Recommend The Anchor Inn

Booked 2 rooms as we were visiting for a family wedding. We were given rooms 15 and 16 in the annex. we arrived at 12 but we were able to access both rooms which was great so we could quickly get changed.

I was absolutely dreading staying after reading some of the reviews however I was really pleased with everything. Both rooms were clean with everything we needed for an overnight stay, tea and coffee making facilities. We also had fresh toiletries, fluffy white towels and a nice big TV. 

We ate in the restaurant as this was where the wedding meal was held. All of our meals were hot and tasty. The breakfast that was included was lovely, cereal, toast and then a cooked option.

For the money I think the anchor offers fantastic value for money. It’s not a plush 5* but it’s clean, with decent food and facilities. If we are in the area again we would definitely return for food a place to stay!
