The rooms are lovely and the hosts are very welcoming. The entire property is beautifully decorated both inside and out. The breakfast is amazing. The ladies who provided breakfast took great care to present the meal in a very appealing and delicious style. The fresh fruit starter and coffee are great! I definitely recommend the property for a beautiful and warm experience

It is a delighful place to stay. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and very welcoming.

We spent 3 delightful days in Bishop on the way from Yosemite to San Diego, and we can highly recommend Joseph House Inn, an elegant B&B located on a quiet street just a couple of blocks from the center of downtown Bishop. Myriam, the proprietor, is both a gourmet breakfast cook and a walking encyclopedia of things to see and do in the area, including faultless restaurant recommendations. Myriam even knew which of the many mountain lakes west of Bishop had the most dazzling fall colors. Her mother, Hilde, adds to the family atmosphere of warm hospitality and delivers compliments and advice with charm and grace in a light German accent. Many of the other guests whom we met are repeat customers of Joseph House Inn and are also experts on visiting the eastern Sierra region. We enjoyed them all. In today's noisy world of look-alike motels and corporate chain restaurants, Joseph House Inn is an exception. There you will find professionalism, a peaceful setting, and genuine hospitality.

Local expertise plus gourmet breakfasts plus tranquility and tastefulness

It would be hard for us to add to the many excellent reviews already on this site, all of which we feel are honest and totally correct. After a drive from Yosemite we arrived to be greeted by Myriam and her nephew Daniel to be shown to our room then asked to enjoy a cold glass of wine. Myriam immediately began to ask what we wanted to do and offered fantastic advice once she understood what we wanted to achieve during our visit, all of which we took. You do not enter a house but part of their home, all of which they have done themselves. Make sure you have a read of the black picture folder by the fireplace to get a feel of the journey that they have been on with Joseph House Inn.We stayed in the Green room, which was larger than we expected and had everything that we could need for our short two night stay.Throughout our visit Myriam, her mother and Daniel were always on hand and asking after our welfare and offering suggestions of places to go and things to do. If you are over that side of the mountains and you want somewhere that offers a great base to hike or visit the area you will not be disappointed in the Joseph House Inn, Myriam and her family will exceed your expectations. Hopefully we will get back next year and sample another one of Myriam's 5 star breakfasts!

An oasis of tranquility.

A beautiful extremely well kept home with  host Myriam and her mum welcoming us with a glass of wine and lots of advice about the area.  Very peaceful with a lovely garden where scrumptious breakfast were served.
Bed was comfortable and  quiet.

Inn of excellence

We stayed one night on the way to Mammoth in the winter at Joseph House Inn after reading all the raving reviews. We were willing to pay over $200 because of the good review.  The final price is almost $280 including a small cod add in for my daughter.  We arrived late, 10pm in the night.  It was nice that the lady waited for us and asked us about tomorrow breakfast.  We told her we have to leave early to Mammoth so if she can give us something to eat on the road.  Our sole purpose was to have a place to have one good night sleep.  This was not achieved.  We were given the first room to the right.  The main reason we could not sleep was the bed.  The bed was so old, even breathing heavyly make squeaking sound.  I can honest say the bed I dumped was in better quality than this.  My daughter slept with me not my hubby in fear that he was heavy and every turn will make the bed feel like having an earth quake.  Still this did not help.  I could not sleep because the bed was noisy and so soft that I sank to the middle.  The floor was not all leveled.  The deco was rustic style or old with plastic flowers in the room and bath room.  We did not take shower so cannot comment on the shower.  hubby said the little add on cod us was also very uncomfortable he could not sleep.  So the only person slept was my 2nd grade kid.  The next day the lady packed us an English muffin with bacon and egg each person.  It was nice and warm but a bit small for us to fill our stomach full.  My daughter was the only one got a little fruits.  My hubby and I had only the muffins.  The garden is big but we do not sleep in the garden.  Bedding feels old and cheap as well.  The heater makes huge sounds so I turned it off, only to start it at 5 am because it will be too cold in the room in the morning according to the lady.  When the heater is on, it also blast strong wind into the room.   All in all, $280, not worth it at all.  Probably Motel 6 will have better bed, and cheaper.  So if you are looking for the basic sleep and comfort, this is not it.
