Good location, room was clean, comfortable, good price and the Golden Eagle Diner around corner perfect for breakfast.  King bed perfect.  Air condition switch "constant fan" kept room cool and great noise cover.   Desk issued new key when I couldn't find mine following a perfect wedding without skipping a beat.

Clean, comfortable, hot water, good price...

This hotel is in a nice area, but it certainly is an incredibly ugly building. However there is ample parking and check-in was pleasant and easy. The usual Covid restrictions are in place, no breakfast etc, but staff were wearing masks.
This was a difficult one to place a review on because the room was clean but very small. Refrigerator and microwave were spotlessly clean, sheets were clean and room as a whole was good budget hotel. No stains etc, but tired looking. You immediately walk in onto bare floors, with no mat to wipe your feet, which was annoying as it was raininging outside and our arms were full of luggage, so nowhere to change into indoor footwear or save the clean floor from getting wet. (Room leads straight onto parking lot). 
Bathroom is tiny and left no place to put anything once usual toiletries were unpacked. Ok for one night, but we were there for a week, so we had quite a lot of stuff with us. Shower was excellent.
We had a couple of minor reasons to interact with management and on each occasion the issue is was resolved immediately and politely. 
We heard no noise at all from other residence of the hotel and slept well each night.
One downside for me was the WiFi, which kept dropping out constantly. First world problems and only irritating because I am used to high speed and good connection.
Management and staff work hard to look after this place and it was clean and tidy. I absolutely would stay here again, but just know it is a budget hotel with minor irritations, such as size and the impracticalities this brings with it.

A good budget hotel

This hotel gets average reviews on TripAdvisor but is generally scathed on other sites. This is unfortunate because it was well worth the money and is really much better than the one star rating it gets on numerous sites.
The quote, "Don't judge a book by its cover", couldn't be truer for this property. The lobby is worn and the walkways and stirs are old, cracked and in horrible disrepair. Walking to my room I thought OMG but was pleasantly surprised when I opened the door. The rooms have been updated, new floors, tiles and laminate wood. Rooms are freshly painted. It was clean, tightly spaced, great tv and coffee maker and best of all the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was basic, juice (real juice not a mix) cereal, bagels and bread and yogurt and fruit...sure met my needs as I left with a traveller coffee and apple. Desk service both at check in and check out was friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a great quick stop, very reasonably priced then ignore many reviews and give it a chance, you'll be presently surprised!

Great Value for a Maligned Property!

Price was descent. The room was nice and comfy and pretty clean for a motel. Also the location is superb. Not many sit down restaurants in town but has several different fast food places. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. Front desk was very helpful and polite as well. 

Great Service 

Rolling up to this place, it's clear it's mostly a residential motel. Most rooms have folding chairs and other furniture outside, and there are cigarette butts and trash everywhere. I was frankly pretty surprised that a chain would look this awful on the outside. Staff was friendly though, and the room on first glance looked immaculate. Later, I realized that the towels were super stained, the sheet had some sort of scented oil on it, and the headboard had something smeared on it (food, hopefully.)  All in all, it was good for one night at a decent price. I left before breakfast, but it doesn't seem like it was happening anyway...thank goodness the Tim Horton's next door opens at 5:00 a.m.

Clean enough on the inside for one night

Room didn't get dark enough for me to get a good night's rest. The curtain over the window wasn't large enough on the sides and at the bottom. There was no curtain in the bathroom because it was frosted. Also, there was a bright light connected to the hair dryer that you couldn't turn off. 

The rest of the room was okay. The room was clean. Bed was somewhat comfortable.

No hot food provided in the breakfast. There is a Tim Horton next door. Burger King and McDonalds are close by.

Not Much Sleep

I stayed here to get away from the 4th of July fireworks and was specifically told that there wouldn't be any. The General Manager ended up lying to me like I don't know anything when I checked in. When I mentioned something to him about fireworks being set off nearby because I'm a veteran, he told me that there was nothing he could do because his guests weren't doing it on his property. He also told me that if I didn't like it to leave. The GM could be new to managing hotels, but this is something that you never say to a paying customer who's highly esteemed in Monroe County. Not to mention that the bathtub in Room 224 looked nasty, there was an old piece of pepperoni on the floor near my nightstand, there were no plastic cups or coffee cups in my room despite there being a Keurig on my desk and the complimentary breakfast area had no napkins! I expected to get what I paid for, however, even the most basic motels and hotels have more bare necessities than this place. I, personally would not recommend Econo Lodge to anyone who's traveling from out of town or state.

You get what you pay for.  

We had negative and positive things.  No continental breakfast offered anymore. ☹  Found  garbage on the floor.  The man in the front office was very nice, when we had trouble with the TV he was helpful in getting it fixed.

No breakfast

I'm not sure that I would call myself a hotel snob, but I do enjoy a hotel room door that closes all the way and a bathroom that doesn't use duct tape as wall decorations. The windows were ground level and my screen looked like it had been cut. I was expecting to end up as the star of an Investigation Discovery show...
The only saving grace was that they had On Demand.

Bates Motel-ish? 

One of the worst experiences I ever had at a motel. Showed up at 2:30 PM to be told by Shahroz (general manager) that "the computer" overbooked the motel, and he canceled my reservation (without notifying me). Despite my confirmed reservation, he would not rent me the room at the agreed upon rate. But since I was "such a nice guy," he could book a new reservation (at a higher rate, of course) so somehow, they had a room available if I was willing to pay extra. Wasted 90 minutes arguing with him and trying to call Choice Hotels corporate office. 

This is highway robbery, and Shahroz should be ashamed of himself for this sort of business practice. Had stayed here several times when visiting the area but will never stay there again. 

I did file a complaint with Choice Hotels corporate office afterward who took my information and said they would follow up but would not provide a refund or any compensation for my poor experience.
