This place was a treasure!  

We arrived late and were immediately made to feel very welcome by James - the host/owner.  We went straight to bed and had a great nights sleep in a very cozy bed.  The next morning we had a chance to look at the inside of this beautiful property.  The home was full of beautiful antiques and had a wonderful ambiance.  James was a superb host and filled us with a delicious home cooked breakfast of eggs, sausage, grits, biscuits, grapefruit, stewed apples and all of the coffee and juice we wanted.  It was delicious.  While we ate, James gave us a history of this beautiful property which has been in his family for well over a hundred years.  It was truly a wonderful visit.  We'll be back and we strongly recommend you visit this place.   

WONDERFUL SURPRISE IN DAMASCUS

I am so glad that I did not believe the last reviews. This place is great! This is not a Hampton Inn and suites or a Fairfield Inn. This is an amazing bed-and-breakfast with lots of antiques, and lots of history! I did not get to eat breakfast, but it sure smells good! The owners are just as sweet as they can be. If you see negative reviews on here about this place, do not listen! The room was clean, the bathroom was clean, and the bed was super comfortable… Which is why I miss breakfast. We will definitely be back! It is also reasonably priced.

This place is great!

Fabulous Historic beautiful well maintained home with lots of Victorian rooms we stayed in the honeymoon suite with a bathroom and the bed was very comfortable lots of space ! Woke up for 8:30am eggs bacon breakfast with grapefruit juice and lots of homemade surprises !! The table settling was so beautiful and the time we spent there will be forever a great memory !!! Thank you James and Connie !! Spectacular restful visit 

Beautiful historic bed and breakfast!! 

Stayed two nights (Tower Room). It was the perfect place to relax after spending the day hiking and exploring. Off the main highway, it was secluded and peaceful. Innkeepers were available if needed, but we had the property to ourselves. One of the best breakfasts we've had, and great conversation. Appreciated the  snacks, sodas, and wine! Shared bath wasn't a problem - even with a full house. Will definitely return on our next Damascus adventure!

Great stay!

Upon our arrival, James welcomed us and provided directions upon our return from getting a bite to eat.  We actually would have been satisfied with the fruit and cookies they had available within.  After eating at the 7 Trails Grill, we returned to find a comfortable common space to relax.  Our room (the Bay room) was lovely, with a beautiful bed that complemented the high ceiling and other decor.  We had the shared bathroom to ourselves with everything needed for out stay.

After a satisfying night's sleep, coffee was available before our 8:30 breakfast.  The homemade breakfast of eggs, home fries, biscuits, sausage gravy, sausage, and a variety of jams was delightful, as was the interesting conversation with the proprieters.

We greatly enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful experience

The outdated signs at the entrance had us concerned, but once we were on the property and throughout our stay, we had an excellent experience.  The room we occupied (Bay Room) was clean, comfortable, had a nice view and although the bathroom was shared and they had a "full house", it was not an issue at all as it was well stocked and cleaned.  We enjoyed time on the grounds and chatting with new friends on the spacious deck, slept very comfortably, and enjoyed a delicious and entertaining breakfast complete with country sawmill gravy and multiple fruits and homemade jams.  The owner shared history of the house and furnishings with us, making it an interesting breakfast.  We will definitely be returning!

Nice Quiet Get Away

We arrived at Millsap-Baker Estate tired and dirty after six days on the Appalachian Trail and we could not have been better cared for. There was a note on the door with our name on it and precise instructions about where to find everything - including homemade cookies and wine! One of the issues with B&Bs sometimes - at least for us - is privacy. This was the perfect combination - we were left completely to ourselves but we loved having breakfast with our hosts the morning after we arrived. The house itself is fascinating and quirky - much more interesting than most other options for accommodations. Just really lovely.

Perfect Place to Recover from the AT

We stopped in Roanoke VA for dinner and found this wonderful place on line. The hosts were friendly and professional. They left us a welcome note and wine which was perfect after a day of driving down Rt 81.

The estate us filled with antiques and the host chatted with us about the history of the house and antiques. Many pieces were made by Dave Millsap, a previous owner and woodworker.

The bed was comfortable and the room was beautiful.  We enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

We recommend this wonderful estate. It’s close to Rt 81, just short drive along the country road to this estate on a hill.

Our stay at the Millsap-Baker Estate was a great experience.  The hosts were welcoming and the accommodations were very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the southern breakfast and conversation.  It was delicious!  There were a variety of snacks and drinks available around the clock. The estate itself was beautiful and had a wealth of historical antiques and books available to enjoy.  We hope to return this fall!!

Great experience!!

Spur of the moment trip for Valentine’s Day. Lucky enough to get reservations last minute, and due to COVID, ended up being the only couple there. Hands down, the most INCREDIBLE stay. Our hosts were great conversationalists, and have so much history to share. It felt as if we were old friends returning for a visit, not just first-time guests. Fantastic time. Already looking forward to our next trip.
