We needed a place to crash gif the night. AJ said he had a few rooms left, we just needed one! lol. 
The A/C worked perfect as did the TV. We each showered then went to sleep. The bed was very comfortable and it was really quiet. This is our third time staying here. The rates are reasonable and the management is very friendly. We’ll be back.

Great Value Friendly Staff

We stayed at this budget friendly hotel for a week while we were in town and have nothing but great things to say about the establishment and it's managers. Great customer service. Rooms are very clean. Air conditioner cooled the room very quickly. Beds are comfortable and we had great sleep. And the price of a room was reasonable for the amenities and hospitality that we received and will stay here next time we're in Hico!!

Very clean, comfy rooms, Quiet location on Hwy 281

We stayed here last weekend with our two kids, it was great at this price. Clean and comfy rooms. All their rooms are Non-smoking so the room smelled fresh and clean. Have all modern facilities like Free Wi-Fi, Flat TV, Fridge and Microwave. Hair Dryer is available upon request. Bathrooms are very clean. They have recently painted the rooms. I like their new style cabinets. It was quiet and safe. Manager was nice and took good care of us. Nice decent place to stay on Hwy 281 and can recommend to anyone.

Very Clean budget hotel at great location!

We stay here many times while travelling to San Antonio. They have really improved their rooms recently. They got new beddings and cabinets has very nice decor. Rooms smell fresh and clean. All their rooms are non-smoking and we can park our car right in front of our room. Beds are comfortable and AC worked great for us. Bathrooms are newly painted and everything was clean. We got all facilities we need for night stay which includes microwave and fridge in rooms, nice flat panel TV with HBO and free WI-FI. It was quiet during night and we felt safe staying here. Managers take good care of the facility. We can highly recommend this place to anyone.

Newly renovated rooms, Clean and Quiet Budget hotel!

We have to say, this is one of the cleanest small hotel we have ever stayed in. We stay at this hotel in Hico every time we drive   through Hico on highway 6. Not only are the rooms clean and free of "critters", AJ and his wife are very professional too. HBO, Free WiFi, great service. Close to restaurants and local shopping. See ya next month AJ!! Thank you for everything. Definitely recommended!!

Cleanest budget hotel

Just looking to get off road at dark, Garmin said go here. Friendly greeting, old-fashioned key. A/C off, took three hours to cool room in late September. Refrigerator unplugged but cooled quickly. Wifi is just fair. TV has few channels, some are looking bad. Claims on screen to be DirecTV, I don't see how that is realistic. Slept OK.
Rooms are non-smoking but try not to trip over the huge outdoor ash tray.

You get what you pay for.  This place has not been updated in a while…..cleanliness is not what we expected.  We came in late and departed early the next morning.  No reason to prolong the stay.  Nothing at all would make us want to stay here again…..ever.

Cheap

When I booked this place, I believed all the people who had only written one review. But, we agree with the previous reviewer, True Texas Traveler.
Although quiet, we did not feel comfortable at this location. In our case, the sheets were clean and the beds were comfortable, but there was nothing else acceptable. 
It has great potential, but it seems to be for local workers who stay a while.

I travel around Texas a lot, to and from all corners of the state.  I've stayed at a lot of hotels.  Some are very expensive.  Some are very cheap.  Most are somewhere in between.  Generally, though, even the most "budget" of the hotels I stay at are acceptable.  This was truly the worst hotel/motel/inn/B&B/etc. that I have ever stayed in.  The room was simply gross.  Dirtiest hotel room I've ever been in.  The sheets were dirty.  The sink was dirty.  The bathroom was dirty. The carpet was worn and stained.  The furniture had stains.  If this is your only option in Hico, I recommend traveling 20 minutes up the road to Stephenville and  finding something else.

The Worst Hotel I've Ever Been In

First we get here with our group of friends and our reservation was cancelled. 
Next we walk into the room that has that “awful terrible over use of some kind of chemical smell”
Sink doesn’t look clean, around toilet not clean, towels are various shades of white, sheet are thin in places. 
But you get what you paid for cheap and scary.  Beds are terrible. Pictures follow.
