One of the best hotels ever! The beautifully renovated old building is situated on a wonderful river. The room I stayed in looked like it had just been redone. It had fresh carpet, cute knotty pine paneling, spotless bathroom fixtures, and the air conditioning worked perfectly.  There is a deck on the river for anyone to relax and enjoy the view. Half the rooms face the river and half don't, and there is a price difference per night if you want that view. The staff was helpful. Be aware there is no food prepared in the hotel, including no breakfast served, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby. 

Clean and comfy riverfront hotel

There is a 72 hr cancellation policy.  My father ended up in the hospital so I was not going to be able to attend my friends wedding.  I was within the 72 hours so they didn't need to let me cancel but did when I explained the reason I wouldn't be there.  Going above and beyond to help your customer even if it means you lost your revenue is a rare thing in today's world.  Thank You/

This Hotel was a perfect choice for an overnight stay as part of a Car Club driving
event. Enjoyed the river view and fall colors. Desk clerk was courteous and helpful.
Restaurants nearby were very convenient. Looking forward to next year’s event.

Perfect time of year to visit

We were recently in Oregon to tend to business for a recently deceased relative and spent a night at the Paddle Wheel Inn.  It is not particularly fancy, and there is no signage on the outside of the building to indicate that you are actually at the motel, but it is pleasant, quiet, and very clean.  If we have reason to be back in the area in the future we will very definitely plan on staying again.  Recommended.

A Quiet, Clean Place to Stay in Oregon

I’ve stayed here 4 times this year.  For $90 I recommend the lower level “whirlpool suite” which is on the river side of the hotel with views of the river, paddle boat, and Blackhawk statue (currently under repair). This room is big with 2 queen beds (good quality) and has a table and chairs which we always use for eating-in dinner. There’s a tv in the bathroom. The whirlpool is in old-school jetted tub (also the shower) which is tricky to enter due to the long leg stretch you have to make to step over and into it. There’s a sink and vanity separate from the bathroom, inside the bedroom- old school style. I really like the walk-out patio which is small and not very private but convenient, with 2 patio chairs and a table.  The Evening female receptionist is very friendly. There’s Free coffee available in the lobby, even at 9pm. This hotel is not pet friendly. Once I stayed in the smallest room on the parking lot side, 2nd floor- it was very small - only room for a bed - which was ok for 1 person, but not for 2, and ok if you only want to sleep.

We’ve been going to the three state parks in the Oregon area each year since 2004, but thanks to COVID the cabins at White Pines were closed as the owners went bankrupt.  So, we decided to stay here for a night. While we were not expecting the Marriot, our stay was average at best (and that was a generous grade).  

Our room was on the first floor and had a bright red carpet and old flower bed sheets and you can tell the room was pretty dated.  It was nice that they had a refrigerator (it was small, even by hotel standards) and microwave.  No coffee, as it was only available in the common area.  The bathroom was very small, only one person could fit at a time (no soap or shampoo either in the room, we got some at the front desk).  There were limited outlets, and nothing right by the nightstand (at least without unplugging something else).

The biggest issue we had was that there were at least 20 or 30 ladybugs we had to kill and our daughter didn’t like it at all.  Plus I looked outside our window and found at least another big amount there, most of them dead.  Also, they said they couldn’t do breakfast due to COVID.  While I can understand not being able to serve hot items, there isn’t any reason they couldn’t have at least some individual boxes of cereal or other items like that’s since we paid for it.  If they were so concerned about people touching items, they should have not served coffee either as I’m sure plenty of people were touching that.  

Considering we paid over $120 for the room (and that didn't even include a view of the river), we did expect better and if the cabins are still closed in 2021, we would rather drive the extra miles to the Holiday Inn Express in Rock Falls as it is only a few dollars more and a much better experience.

The Ladybug Inn

My wife and I stayed there as we were passing through and we both loved how comfortable the beds were. We arrived late, but wee were able to make arrangements for a late check in with no problems. Nice places to eat close by. We would definitely stay again.

I have now stayed here twice. This is not a luxury hotel. Think 2 star and you will not be disappointed. I think it is overpriced for what you get. I would also suggest that they provide shampoo and lotion in the room instead of making it a special request.  Free and convenient parking is great. Front desk is courteous but not manned after about 9pm. If there are problems at night you have to call an off site number. The view of the river is very nice. The rooms are clean. Rooms are outdated. Some might find that quaint. The steak restaurant that shares the parking lot is really good which is a plus but it closes early by some’s standards during the week. 

I found it overpriced but serviceable for its purposes.  Remember to think two stars.
