My husband and I attended a wedding in the area Oct 1st, 2022
We changed a reservation from a typical hotel to the Chestnut Inn.  We had a wonderful experience and wish we had more time to stay !  The B&B is beautiful , historic, period decorated and a refreshing change from the usual.  Monika and Jeff are a delight to talk to, completely dedicated to making your stay comfortable and relaxing!  They work hard to maintain excellent cleanliness standards .  Our room with attached bathroom was exceptionally clean and comfortable.
Finally our breakfast was a culinary delight! Monika’s background and extensive experience with food creatively presents itself with the plate in front of you!

If you’re looking for a relaxing get away complete with lovely surroundings and the best food experience—look no further, this is it! Monika and Jeff attend to your comfort with just the right amount interactions-respecting your privacy and also very friendly. They are very personable!

Exceptional experience

The accommodations at Chestnut Street are exceptional enough to merit a very favorable review, but the fabulous meals put this B&B into the five-star category. Monika is a creative, gifted chef and the locally-sourced food was delicious. Our dinner (extra) compared favorably to that served in any restaurant in the state, Chicago included, and the breakfasts were equally unique. Jeff and Monika are friendly and helpful hosts and this a very fine establishment.

A Gem

My daughter in law and I just had a wonderful time at the beautiful Chestnut Street Inn. Monika and Jeff were very personable and accommodating. We so enjoyed the atmosphere and the 5 star cuisine at dinner and breakfast. We stayed in the green room which is basically the entire back half of the second level. (The sitting room was comfortable and we each had our own bedroom -as there is a bedroom with a twin bed and another with a full bed.  We highly recommend this beautiful inn.

A special girls’ weekend!

Perfect weekend getaway. Monika and Jeff were gracious hosts and the food was incredible -- every meal -- as well as the chocolate macaroons that greeted us! It was fun to spend a weekend exploring the country and nice to return home feeling rejuvenated.

Relaxing and delicious

We were leary to travel due to COVID and the Delta Variant. But felt so safe when we saw all the safety measures put into place. They scattered tables for breakfast, mask-wearing outside of the room, 48 hours in rooms between stays, and everything was super clean. It was great! Also, I have dietary restrictions and Monika made the best food I've eaten ever! She took into account what I could eat and not what I couldn't. If you are wondering if you should go, just go!

COVID-19 SAFE and Food was Divine

Two generations of our family traveled for a family member memorial service, and we booked the entire Chestnut Street Inn for our stay.  What a truly memorable weekend to celebrate life, relive memories, and immerse in the midwestern locale!  Monika and Jeff were outstanding hosts, keeping us fortified for the weekend with outstanding hot breakfasts and gourmet meals on 2 nights.  Monika worked closely with us to develop a meal plan that accommodated both carnivorous and vegetarian/pescatarian needs, with outstanding results!  All of the meals were delicious and would delight any "foodie" from the big city.   The various rooms were lovely examples of what a bed and breakfast should be, decorated with a period feel, and each had adjoining bathrooms that were upgraded to meet modern expectations. (My husband and I were in the Rose room, the best of the best!)  We took full advantage of all of the  shared spaces, and particularly enjoyed the back patio,  croquet on the lawn, and wine by the firepit in the evening. It was so wonderful to connect with our family group at this time of bittersweet remembrance.   Thank you Monika and Jeff for providing such a beautiful venue for indulging our Midwest nostalgia!

Nostalgia and New Memories!

Living in the heart of a busy city, I can attest that one of the best qualities of the Chestnut Inn is its quietude.  Monica and Jeff are professional hosts (10+) and the meals are off the chart (in the top ten among B&Bs in the USA).  But one of the best features is the quiet nature of Sheffield.  Your ears will ring with silence!  This is a bargain, indeed.

The Luxury of Quietude

Incredible hosts! The food is delicious- must stay for dinner!! Our room was very clean and comfortable. Cute town with great outdoor activities nearby- must do the Hennepin Canal trail. We cannot wait to come back and hit the links with Jeff and hopefully a cooking class with Monika!

Very special Inn!! Go if you can!

We have roots in the Sheffield area and needed to take care of some family business.  We have tried several properties in the area and this is by far the best overall value.  All 4 of us slept soundly and enjoyed Monika's culinary talents.  She made everything so yummy, even with our dietary constraints.  When you stay, be sure to enjoy an evening meal there as well.  Your taste buds will thank you for it!
