We stayed at this lovely B&B the last weekend in September 2024, and also about a year before.  To start off, the house is a large, elegant Victorian, on one of the most beautiful streets in Cambridge, MD, lined with homes dating back to the 19th and 18th century.    Indeed, I think there are very few more beautiful streets in the country.

The house is in excellent shape, and furnished with fine antiques and/or period-appropriate furniture.  (No IKEA here!)   In both cases, the rooms were lovely, superbly clean, and well appointed, with a spindle bed, dressers, Victorian chairs, attractive mirrors (ideally, a little bigger would have been better), a more-than adequate closet and a gas fire place that looked like we could use it.  The bathrooms in the rooms we used (first floor) are small, but modern, equipped with lush towels, and immaculately clean.  

The ample front porch is a verandah looking into the brick-paved street, one half screened-in and the other open.  A perfect spot to sit in the shade and read.  

Breakfast was served on elegant china (the same pattern as my mother-in-law’s), with charming juice glasses.  Coffee, and tea of course.  Pancakes with bacon were simple and delicious.

Among the other guests were an artist/vendor who was in town for the street fair, and a very interesting couple who were taking advantage of Cambridge’s flat geography for a bicycle tour.   They offered lively and well-informed conversation.  

The air conditioning worked well, which is absolutely essential in Cambridge in summer. 

The owners are very friendly, responsive and accommodating.  After we had checked out, we spent a couple more hours in town, and were graciously allowed to keep using our bathroom  before getting on the road.  

Fair warning - the web accurately site discloses that this B&B is not ADA compliant, having been grandfathered as a historical property.  No ramps or elevators. But there are 2 fine guest rooms on the first floor, so if you can make it up 6 or 7 front steps, there are no obstacles to those rooms. 

Highly recommended.

Charming.  First class

We spent a truly comfortable 2 nights at the Cambridge House.  The room was quaint and very comfortable.  Breakfast was delicious and healthy.  The location is very convenient to both restaurants and sights.  Highly recommended for adults.  The hosts are fascinating individuals who have great professional experiences as well as friendly hosts.  Just delightful visit.

Delight Stay and Hosts

Enjoyed a lovely 2-night stay in the comfortable, spacious and immaculate Dorchester Room. Cambridge House is a gorgeous historic house with period antiques and beautiful artwork collected by wonderful innkeepers Jim and Marianne from their travels all over the world.  They are very friendly and interesting hosts to talk to. They prepared a delicious healthy breakfast every morning and made every effort to keep all guests comfortable during our stay.  The house is perfectly located with an easy 5-minute walk to the lighthouse Marina and to local restaurants and shops in downtown Cambridge.  Enjoyed meeting their sweet animals too.  Will definitely be back!

Beautiful historic Inn in Cambridge with charming hosts

Lovely house, charming hosts, excellent breakfast, good conversation. Minutes to the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge and the Harriet Tubman trail. Good restaurants are nearby, and you can take a stroll through the historic town or along the water by stepping out the front door.  We are looking forward to our next visit.

Wonderful getaway!

This perfectly restored historical Inn just yards away from the Choptank River in Cambridge, Maryland was delightful place to stay. Our room was immaculate and we enjoyed staying on both the front and back porches.

It was easy to walk to dinner at a good restaurant and the trip to the harbor was just steps away. 

Marianne and Jim were delightful hoss and we especially liked their cat and dog. We will definitely return.

A fabulous historic Inn on Maryland's Eastern shore.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cambridge house bed and breakfast.  Jim and Marianne took very good care of us.  Breakfast is delicious and elegantly served with china and silver.  We stayed in the Queen Anne room which was very comfortable for us on the first floor and with access to the side porch.  Cambridge is a great location to explore the Harriett Tubman park and sites as well as the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge.

A gem in Cambridge

The Cambridge House is a lovely place to stay.  Marianne and Jim are warm and welcoming hosts, including providing tips for restaurants and places to see. The rooms are nicely decorated. The breakfasts were outstanding. The location is great. Walking distance to RAR brewery, Vintage and other great restaurants and just two blocks from the riverfront.

A warm and welcoming place.

This is one of the best bnbs I have stayed at. The house is immaculate and decorated with period antiques that made me very comfortable sitting down anywhere particularly the parlor and adjacent porch. Jim and Marianne the hosts are very welcoming. They have interesting backgrounds. The breakfast was very nice and not too much.  You can’t be in a better location in Cambridge. We walked to the craft brewery and several good restaurants. It is also beside the river marina with good views and a nice early morning or evening walk.  I highly recommend staying here.

A wonderful bnb that I highly recommend

Our 4 night stay at Cambridge House was delightful in every respect. Mariann and Jim are superb hosts. Our room was very comfortable and the delicious breakfasts were something we looked forward to each morning. The convenient location was a bonus!

Great Hosts!

We lucked out on our first-ever trip to historic Cambridge on Maryland’s Eastern Shore when we booked two nights at Cambridge House Bed and Breakfast. Our hosts, Jim and Marianne, were gracious, knowledgeable and provided great suggestions on dining, sightseeing, and tips on gaming out the Bay Bridge traffic. The 174-year-old Cambridge House has a comfortable spaciousness and features displays of art from the couple’s foreign service career. You can walk all around town from Cambridge House, from the city’s longtime lighthouse on the Choptank River to downtown shops, bars and restaurants. Jim and Marianne even advised us on out local produce stands to visit when we set out for Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historic Park.
