We loved everything about Blue Moon Rising and our beautiful cabin Blue Sky.  The staff was friendly and so accommodating.  The grounds were everything you would want for a peaceful and beautiful get away.  The cabin had everything you could possibly need.   We took a pontoon boat ride, visited parks and had amazing dinners.

Almost Heaven

My husband and I fell in love with Blue Moon Rising immediately. We checked out BMR for our wedding in June of 2022 and we knew, this was the place. It's beautiful, unique, sustainability forward,  and secluded while accessible. 

The staff at BMR are kind, grounded, down-to-earth, and clearly happy to be there. Being at Blue Moon, you know you're cared about. They were a joy to work with from June of 2022 all the way through the close of our wedding at the end of August 2023. 

A big pro- super dog friendly! Our fur baby Khaleesi LOVED her stays at BMR. She lives her best life when we are there. 

The cabins are beautiful! Each unique, well-kept, clean and cozy. We love the porches. We love the fresh mountain air. While you can hear highway 219, you can still be well-immersed in nature's bounty. Still hoping to see the bear (we've seen evidence and a few of our guests got the privilege!) but there's plenty of other friends to witness like the deer, foxes, hawk and Eagle.

The trails are wonderful - everything we need is at BMR, so in theory we could just book a stay and not leave the land for our entirety. And of course, BMR is so conveniently located to Deep Creek's many delights. 

Blue Moon Rising's wonderful staff worked with us readily and joyfully to help us put our unique wedding vision into fruition. Our guests were blown away at experiencing a retreat-like stay during the wedding weekend. We are so grateful for the fluidity to enjoy the wedding weekend and not be so stressed with packing/unpacking or fitting our wedding/reception within specific time frames. It gave us the opportunity to share precious time with those we love, especially those who we may not get to see often!!!

A big bonus are the discounts for my husband and I and our wedding guests who stayed on site with us - and we have it for the remainder of our lives!!!

BMR shared with us in the beginning that by the end of the wedding, BMR staff becomes like family. This is totally accurate. We are so looking forward to visiting our BMR family again so soon!!!!

1000% Recommend BMR!!!

Where to begin?….I guess at the start, the planning stage. 
We had questions, a lot of them. 
Whitney and the staff were always very prompt and courteous about answering our many inquiries. 
There are many options of places to stay in the Deep Creek area and this was our third time staying at Deep Creek(first time at Blue Moon). Because of the service we received while planning our family gathering we decided to roll the dice and chose Blue Moon Rising for our Thanksgiving destination.
We are so glad we did! There were twenty-two of us! 
19 adults, 1 senior, 1 toddler, 1 baby AND 7 dogs.
Each of the cabins were unique and clean! We rented eleven of the 14 cabins, and every one of them exceeded our expectations! 
The Blue Sky was perfect for my 94 year old mother using both a walker and at times a wheelchair. This cabin was spacious enough for her to get around, she even took advantage of the ADA compliant shower which was especially appreciated.
Bella Donna was quaint for my husband and I, while our single adult sons shared Skya, which was perfect for them and two of the family dogs.
Several family members commented about how great the water pressure in the showers were and how nice it was to enjoy coffee (from the French press) in our individual cabins, before coming together in the Phoenix for meals, games, family chaos and zany activities.
The Phoenix was perfect for meal prep and dinner. It was spacious and accommodated all of us brilliantly. 
I would be remiss if I did not mention Ox, a member of the staff, that continuously came to our aid. Whether it be to empty trash, take members up the hill or instruct us on firewood & recycling policies. Ox made our “tiny cabin”adventure exceptional.
I would definitely recommend Blue Moon Rising, the entire experience was memorable, from the picturesque views, amazing trails to the comfortable, cozy cabins.

Thanksgiving 2022

Blue Moon rising provides very unique "tiny house" accommodations.  We were very impressed with the entire experience.  We stayed in Sugar Magnolia which provided 2 queens (one entry-level, and one in a loft).  The rooms are decorated with local artwork, and the attention to detail and craftsmanship of the house is impressive.  The staff is very friendly and accommodating.   Very quiet, peaceful, and relaxing setting.  Very shot drive to Wisp for some skiing and to local restaurants.  We will definitely be back.

Unique weekend getaway

We visited friends who have their own "tiny house" at Deep Creek Lake, in McHenry, MD.  We stayed at Bella Donna, one of the tiny houses at Blue Moon Rising cabin rentals.  
It was absolutely adorable!!  And comfy and had everything we needed for our weekend at Deep Creek Lake. 
The staff is very friendly and helpful.  They give you rides up the hill, as no cars are allowed past the parking lot.  The 'tiny houses' are located on a mountain side, with a view of Deep Creek Lake from some vantage  points.  
The houses are so efficient.  The outsides are decorated with festive lighting.  The inside of our house was perfectly appointed.  You get a comfy bed (built into a room of it's own).  There were plenty of towels, enough dishes, pans, a toaster oven, French press and small fridge.  I loved the convection hot plate.  SO fast!!  
The houses have special touches.....salvaged pieces from various buildings are used/repurposed in the tiny houses.  Our house would sleep 4, as there was also a loft with 2 twin beds.

I'm in love with the tiny houses!!!

This past weekend was our third trip to Blue Moon Rising for a yoga retreat.  It is absolutely the perfect venue.  Practicing yoga in the open air pavilion as we listened to the rain on the roof was an amazing experience.  As we practiced, we looked down through beautiful fall leaves to a misty Deep Creek Lake.  It was sublime.

My friend and I stayed in Morning Glory, as we had for our first trip to BMR.  We love that little house!  It is perfect for us, with its two queen size beds, one in a cozy nook and the other in the loft.  I only wish it would have been warm enough to use the outdoor shower. 

It was cold and rainy the entire weekend, which wasn't a problem for us, but I wish there would have been a propane heater available to warm the pavilion during our practices.  We had to bring our own.  

I am already looking forward to our next yoga retreat at Blue Moon Rising!

Our Favorite Spot for Yoga Retreats

My daughter and I have been big fans of tiny house videos and articles on the Internet.  She really gave me a wonderful surprise for my birthday with a get away weekend for the two of us at Blue Moon Rising.  We shared the Funkamatic cabin and it gave us a good appreciation for what its like to live in a tiny house.  The cabin is rather spartan but that was OK and even though it was late October, we did sit out on the attached porch.  The location is wonderful up on a hill above Deep Creek Lake and there is a hiking trail on the property.  There are a number of restaurants nearby as it's difficult cooking in a tiny cabin that only has a single induction cooktop and toaster oven.

Do be aware that the cabins are up a steep grade from the parking lot (cars are not allowed up the service road) and it's a stiff walk to get back.  Office staff have a couple of carts that are used to take you and your luggage up the hill and can also deliver you if you don't relish the walk.

This was a wonderful weekend for the two of us, away from the bustle of the big city.

Tiny House Experience at its Best

My cabin was a clean break from the DCL norms, hiking was so sublime that a bobcat spotting felt simply Eden-like.  And as a writer seeking a respite from COVID crazy, BMRising stimulated my mind’s eye, my pen’s passion and my heart’s thirst for more

Rejuvenating🌲

We had a great stay at Blue Moon Rising! The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. We loved the porch and being able to look into the forest. The outdoor shower was clean and it was great that it had a hot water hook up. The staff was incredibly friendly and we will definitely come back for another stay. 

Cute Cabin and Relaxing Environment

There is no picture posted that does this place justice. The cabins are absolutely amazing, wonderful tiny homes that are cozy, relaxing, and each one is unique!! 
When it comes to "customer service", they go above and beyond hospitality to make your stay as perfect as it can be. Shaun was the most wonderful and accommodating host, always cheerful, helpful, and ready to take you to your cabin in the golf cart. We can't wait to go back!!! Definitely need more then a weekend!!
