We arrived at the end of the season to be welcomed by the delightful owner. During our stay she was most helpful and told us about the places we should visit. As the season had finished, tourism was on the decline but we had a very good stay with a warm, very clean room with a fabulous view of the harbour and ocean.
If you are staying in Rockport at the end of your leaf peeping tour before going to the airport can I recommend this excellent guest house.

Excellent Stay

We spent three blissful nights at the Halyard Guest House and I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful place! We had the Harbor View room, which featured a private balcony with a commanding view of Rockport Harbor. The accommodations were clean and first rate, and every effort was made to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Our hosts were very accommodating and provided whatever we needed We were sorry to leave, but already are making plans to return next summer. I recommend the Halyard highly and without reservation! Thank you, Jon and Dawn for a great vacation!

wonderful stay!

Very nice view of Rockport and the ocean from the house.  It is just a short walk so we walked to shops for food and ice cream several times a day.  The neighborhood was very pleasant with nice unique houses along the way.  The children enjoyed playing with swings in the backyard.  We stayed on the first floor studio with a kitchen.  Our hosts Dawn and John took great care of us.  Will certainly return to Halyard!

Great for family

Make sure you have a plan "B" if you book direct via phone with Halyard Guest House. We were notified via EMAIL the day before we planned to travel that our room had been double booked. We were told in the email there was a mistake, and we did not have a reservation after all? (The management took our card number over the phone to hold the room for the agreed on dates.) 

There was an offer of "help" (in the email correspondence) to find another room in Rockport, but we declined.  As a business professional, I was surprised that the management of  Halyard Guest House opted to just send an email. 

To me a situation like that should be personally addressed, especially in the hospitality business.  I did contact them via phone to discuss the matter.  The bottom line to us is: this establishment cannot be trusted.   

 

Very  Disappointed..........it appears we may have been bumped by an on line booking ?
