My husband and I have stayed here several times.

The B&B is only 20 minutes from Traverse City.  It is conveniently located to both TC and Elk Rapids.

This B&B is the cleanest facility I have ever stayed in and I have traveled the world

The owners are gracious and always make us feel welcome.  They even made a bonfire for us

The continental breakfast is great. Judy makes a special trip to a bakery for amazing breads etc

I would highly recommend staying here.



Amazing B&B

Loved staying here. Spent only 1night, slept so well!!  Other visitors were in but aside from hearing hallway steps, everyone was quiet.  The property is very well maintained, peaceful and comforting yet so close to Traverse City and so resonably priced!  Owners were very nice - from first phone call to warm welcome when I arrived.  I brought my own food before a race but plenty of fruit and snacks were available. 
Wished I was staying longer to enjoy the grounds including lovely hummingbirds.

This  B & B is extremely well kept and the hosts are a pleasure.  The home is immaculate with carefully well thought out details.  From the flower gardens to the suites they have given careful cleaning and thoughtful preparation for the guest.  

The breakfast is continental which was well presented and generous but an interesting part of a B & B is usually the breakfast.  For many of us it is part of why we chose to stay at these accommodations so be aware of this before you book.  That being said you will not be disappointed in any other part of this fine home.

I would also like to add that there is a nice place to eat "McGee's 72" just down the road and I would recommend that establishment for dinner.  It is also just 4 miles from a very nice state park that has trails and lakes that are protected from any motors.  It is a "quite park" and worth the visit for a walk in the woods. I would also mention that it is just a couple of miles from the Casino.  We found that this place is close to everything Traverse City has but just far enough away to have Peace and quite.

If you have a chance to visit the Yorkburg Manor is a great value and a very good place to spend the weekend.

Beautiful B & B Worth a Visit

My husband and I recently spent one night here. The house has an amazing history - it was moved (a labor of love!) from it's former location over 10 years ago and attached via a catwalk to the owner's living quarters (above a garage). In the process Judy and John have passionately worked to restore the house to it's former glory and most of the furnishings are appropriate to the period. Also Judy is an immaculate house keeper - everything was very clean.
A few things worth noting - the breakfast is "deluxe continental", which means you won't get hot sausage or custom omelettes, but it also means there is no restrictive time frame for breakfast and there was several varieties of fresh bread, yogurts, fresh fruit, cereal, and scones as well as coffee and an assortment of teas. Also there was a refrigerator with a variety of (non-alcoholic) drinks that was available anytime, as were an assortment of packaged snacks and cookies. A microwave and guest refrigerator were also available for our use.
Another feature of this B&B is that although the owners live on the premises, they have living quarters above the garage that is connected to the house by a catwalk so in essence the guests have the house to themselves to relax in the evening, etc.
We stayed in one of the rooms with a shared bath. The other room was vacant so we had the bathroom to ourselves anyway. The bathroom had a cupboard that was stocked with extra towels and every possible toiletry a guest may have needed and forgotten.
One minor issue we had was that our room got a little warm at night and the fan provided was a bit noisy. There was air conditioning but we were not able to regulate it ourselves and we couldn't open the windows (because of the air conditioning).
The location worked well for us. It wasn't right in town but a short drive down the road we discovered the Sands Lake Quiet Area which provided us with a great 10 mile mountain bike ride (we were able to see a loon and her baby on one of the small lakes). It was also very close to Turtle Creek casino and a lot of local farm markets with fresh fruit and wines.

Immaculate period home in relaxing setting

Yorkburg Manor is decorated in 1940s farmhouse chic.  Judy, the host, has a fabulous collection of dolls of that period on display.  Our room was large and comfortable.  Breakfast is a do-it-yourself affair featuring yoghurt, fresh fruit, cereal and store-bought pastries.  Yorkburg Manor is a nice enough place, but is basically average so far as B&Bs go.
