We just got back from staying 3 nights and it was fantastic! I am so glad I didn't read any of the reviews on this site (I only read ones from others) because we probably wouldn't have gone and missed out. From what I read here I think people need to do their research before booking. There was a group of 7 of us - 2 adults, 3 kids, 2 grandmas - and we had 2 rooms - Moose 3 and 4. Number 1 - it is rustic! There are no tvs, refrigerators, AC, etc but they are up front about that. We knew that before booking and it didn't bother us at all - though I did wish they had a minifridge. As far as internet, it was pretty stable while we were there but as you know being in that area, that's not a guarantee. Number 2 - our room was clean and no major issues. I saw someone posted about this room a month earlier and they had issues - well they must've been fixed because our blinds and everything were fine. Number 3 - yes, the walls are thin. You can hear things. This can, and has happened to us, at many major hotels. Number 4 - the price of the room for what you get was definitely comparable. I shopped places in the national park and in Jackson and would say this was definitely in line with what we paid. Number 5 - the people at the front desk, on the phone, the wranglers, everyone was very nice, answering questions, offering suggestions and help, no issues at all. After booking I had random questions like having the rooms near each other, options for horseback riding for my daughters, random small talk as we were outside, and everyone was really friendly. 
The only negative I can say is stay away from the cafe. We thought we'd try it the first morning since it's onsite then decide what to do the other days. I had read reviews saying it was overpriced so that wasn't a shock but the food was just bad. We got a variety of things - since there were 7 of us - and everything was cold. It was brought out at different times, we thought so everyone's food would be hot - but that wasn't the case. I mean it was barely room temperature. It also had no taste. On top of it was the cost, we paid close to $200 for 7 of us. If the food was good I could have dealt with the price better but it was just bad and expensive.
I hope this review helps someone when planning but overall we loved the rustic experience. We would definitely stay again!

Heart Six Ranch in August

We were very fortunate to stay in Otter Cabin #3 (3 of 6)  June 11-14.  Our cabin was clean,  nice bed and bathroom in this one bedroom cabin.  Our view was magnificent sitting on our desk watching the meandering river and Grand Tetons National Park.  Last night we were watching a group of elk graze across the river and enjoyed the daily moving of the herd of horses back and forth from grazing.  

Upon arrival, we were able to check in early. The cafe is nearby along with a plentiful choice of gifts.  The staff was sociable (lots of college students from out of state.  The weather changed dramatically from sun to rain, windy to chilly. This  location allowed us the ability to visit Yellowstone (the day before the park closed) NP and Grand Tetons NP.  The natural beauty and wildlife was easily visible during sunrise and sunset.  We saw 5 bears, elk, deer, pronghorn,moose and buffalo.  

We had a very pleasant experience and were happy to have switched from Jackson WY to Heart Six Ranch. If you want a taste of the Wild West including late spring storms, sunshine sprinkled in with a priceless view of the snow capped mountains, this  was an unforgettable experience.

Heart Six Ranch wonderful June 2022 Rocky Mountain Experience

We had the best time on our 2 hour horseback ride with our guide, Sage.  She was patient and knowledgeable and we felt very safe and comfortable with her. I highly recommend this particular ranch/tour, you will not be disappointed!

2 hour horseback ride was amazing!

Located off a rural road in Moran, just outside Grand Teton National Park and Bridger National Forest, Heart Six Ranch is a historic dude ranch that is over 100 years old.  My wife and I stayed three nights in an outer building standard queen room during mid-September 2022.  We were primarily visiting Grand Teton National Park and the property was convenient, a relatively easy 35-40 minute drive to the park’s Moose Junction entrance.

For those who are accustomed to staying at traditional hotels and resorts, you should know that this property is quite rustic, but if you are prepared for that you can enjoy the many upsides of Heart Six Ranch.

What to PREPARE for:
1) Limited room amenities – the only amenities in our bathroom were towels, a hair dryer and one tiny bar of soap.  Bring your own toiletries, like shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc.
2) Limited room storage – our room had no closet, and only one nightstand with two drawers.  Otherwise, there are just some wall hooks and cubbies to store your clothes.
3) Rustic grounds – there is not a lot of paved area on which to walk or park your car.  Wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty, as you will be walking on dirt and gravel while dodging horse droppings.
4) No complimentary coffee – there is no in-room coffeemaker; the only coffee available is for purchase in the café.
5) No central air conditioning – this was not an issue for us because the warmest day we were there was around 61 F/16 C.  There is a ceiling fan over the bed that would certainly be welcome during the summer.
6) Isolation – aside from the onsite café and gift shop, there are no nearby dining and shopping options.

The UPSIDE of this property:
1) Isolation – it is such a quiet, peaceful location that you begin to relax simply by stepping outside your room.
2) The view – there are lovely, pastoral vistas just outside your door.
3) Available activities – you can purchase packages for Snake River float boats, horseback riding, and fly fishing during the spring, summer and fall, and dog sledding and snowmobiling during the winter.  We booked a float boat trip and enjoyed it.
4) Comfortable beds – we slept great all three nights we were there.
5) Heated bathroom floor – the temperatures were dipping to near-freezing at night, so this was very appreciated.
6) Friendly staff – outside of our somewhat surly float boat driver, the staff was engaging and helpful.
7) Uniqueness – you’re not going to get this kind of experience at a conventional hotel or in most parts of the United States.
8) The price – this property is by no means cheap, but compared to hotels and resorts in either Jackson or Grand Teton NP, it’s a relative bargain.

If you are looking for a luxury property with all the creature comforts, then this property is not for you.  However, if you are interested in a unique experience in a bucolic setting, Heart Six Ranch is worthy of your consideration.

A unique and rustic property

Stayed for a couple of nights in June 2021 with our 2 kids.  We stayed in a cabin with a queen bedroom and a living area with a pull-out sofa.  We loved the rustic feel.

The location and setting are excellent!  Close to Jackson, GTNP, and Yellowstone.  The accommodations are lacking.  The rooms don't have a mini-fridge, microwave, TV and the wifi is inconsistent.  We could hear every word the guests in the next room were saying.  We even heard their phone alarms in the morning as well as coughing, sneezing, and farting.  Don't expect any privacy.

Since we were traveling for 2 weeks, we needed to do laundry.  Heart 6 doesn't have public coin laundry facilities.  We went to Colter Bay to do laundry.

There is also no dinning nearby except for the cafe at the ranch.  If we were to do it over again, we would have gone to Colter Bay for meals and groceries.

Again location is 5 stars, privacy in the cabins is 1 star.

Location, location, and ..

The property did not meet my expectations because *I* did not properly research and prepare myself. I based my expectations on the cost of the room and the cost of the activities. The trail ride was so expensive, I just sent my wife and horse-loving daughter. (2 out of 5 people in the family were able to participate in the ride.)  On the positive side - Breakfast in the café was beyond FANTASTIC!!! The horses were a sight to see, and the evening movement of the herd from the lower pasture to the upper pasture was amazing. The local farrier was there working on some horse hooves and horse shoes. We did not want to interrupt their work, but they were very friendly and answered a lot of (most likely SILLY) questions. I'm a little conflicted in this review. Cost was extremely high for the "products" we received, however this was an invaluable experience for my family and teenage children. I would not go back again, but I truly value the experience that we obtained. My sincere thanks to the owners and staff of Heart Six Guest Ranch.

Worth the experience.

First of all we did not go to experience any of the opportunities that the ranch has to offer. Just needed a home base for 3 nights to explore Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP's. Room was nice. Beds good. Now the issues. They have dog sled adventures. There is a kennel very close to the rooms. When one dog starts howling, they all start in. Not just one or two dogs but about 25. This happens several times per night. You should check and see if they are kenneling dogs during your stay. The food is good. The 1st night great experience. The 2nd night the bar manager told us that we had to pay for water to go with our meal. She insisted that we had to buy a branded water bottle to get water to go with our meal. What???? Free water the first night but must pay to get water the second night. Who makes guests at your ranch and café pay for water?

Good stay but with issues

Heart Six is a nice looking place in a very scenic location. The room had a decent bed with nice looking log furniture. It wasn’t cleaned very well and the bathroom had a slow draining sink and a wobbly toilet. The walls are VERY thin. You can hear EVERYTHING that happens in the rooms! The Buffalo Cafe was the worst part of the experience. The food was mediocre at best. One day I got violently sick 3 hours after eating there. I’m not sure it was food poisoning. The service was unfriendly. They won’t even serve a free glass of water with your meal! You have to buy a $3 souvenir plastic cup and then you can have water. On our last morning there they ran out of coffee cups and served coffee in these plastic food containers. They didn’t even look like they were meant for hot food. And then there’s the hidden tip in the bill that they don’t mention while they gladly accept your second tip for surly service.

Won’t be back

I booked a snow mobile tour on December 31st. Unfortunately 2 minutes into the tour my daughter's snowmobile skidded off the mountain and they were hurt. The tour guide didn't even know this had happened and someone from the back (another tourist) had to go tell him to stop and come back. Clearly this was a nightmare as paramedics were called to check the girls out from their injuries.  Things could have been a lot worse but bottom line we didn't take the tour and the gentleman in the front office advised for me to email "Katie" from eco resorts for a refund.  Two emails and over a week later and Katie  has not responded.  Terrible customer service. At the end of the day with so little snow (pure ice) maybe the resort should have made a judgment call not to go out on the tour. I was very much looking forward to this tour and expected a better response after the accident.

Nightmare snowmobile tour

Our overnight stay at Heart Six Ranch was the worst experience. The room was as dirty as I had ever seen. Walls were paper thin so we could hear everything going on in the rooms next to us. 
We went to the restaurant. It was terrible also. The young lady was a little short of being rude. We ordered a sandwich with french fries that were cold by the time we received them.  Sandwich was terrible as well. The selection of condiments was limited.  To top everything off she added 20% tip automatically to the bill.  When ask about the gratuity, she informed me that we were not being charged for the water we requested and should be thankful.  Guess what??  They were only offering a two-soda selection.

Clean the place and provide exceptional customer service and this could be a very nice to stay over.  As a resident of Wyoming, I will not recommend staying here to anyone.
