This is somewhere very, very special, half way through a 16-night road trip around the Mid-West this was our sanctuary for 3 nights. The accommodation is to a very high standard nestled in the Grand Teton national forest in a perfect valley with the Buffalo Fork River running through it, coupled with great views of the Teton Mountains. We had worked with the front of house staff prior to check in and had been given an itinerary prior to our arrival. This included a meal at the main lodge on the first night. The meal and setting in the main lodge is perfection with a great selection of local sourced food and wines. We instantly booked restaurant reservations for the following 2 nights. The cost is extremely reasonable for the quality and level of service that is super-efficient with a great balance of being friendly and informative but not being to stand offish.
The breakfast the next morning was outstanding with a wide variety of high-class local food.
I have never been horse riding although the wife is quite experienced.  We went on a 2-hour private hack with Emily who paired us with horses that were perfect to both our needs.  After a safety brief we went straight into the trails where the wildlife and experience including a river crossing was superb.  Next day we switched horsepower to an off-road UTV.   We were given a route map that allowed us to explore more of not just this valley but the next one as well. Both of these experiences were at a very reasonable cost.
The location, accommodation, main lodge and meals coupled with the superb staff and management makes this a truly exceptional destination.

What an experience!

My wife and I both agreed this was a very special place.   Nestled in the mountains with a beautiful clear stream right outside our cabin door, we came away with  some great memories.   Every person on the staff we came in contact with went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed every day of the 4 days we were there.   From Ollie in the dining room, Jonas our rodeo chauffeur and fishing guide, John McIlvaine's great tour of the Yellowstone lower loop and our horseback experience with Rain...we couldn't have asked for a more accommodating group of people who really love what they do.

The food was great and we loved the dining atmosphere in the lodge.   I especially really looked forward to the amazing breakfast buffet each morning  to kick-start our day.   We have no doubt we'll make another trip out to this ranch and the unspoiled beautiful country surrounding it!

Amazing Location and Staff

Our morning Grand Teton Wildlife Tour with our guide John McIlvaine was superb!  The tour was very well organized and well provisioned.  John is an expert in his field and we had everything we needed (binoculars, spotting scope) and saw: moose, bald eagles, opsreys, white pelicans, great blue herons (and many other birds), elk, deer, bison (large herd), and bear.  We learned about the wildlife and many aspects of the park and ecosystem.  Super fun and highly recommend.

Grand Teton Wildlife Tour was SUPERB!

This review is for a Pack Trip run by Turpin Meadow Ranch - "Rooms" Review is for the camping experience.

Imagine a magical adventure into the wilderness with your coolest cousins / siblings as your guides - that's what it's like to take a pack trip with Aaron, Elee and Klint, who effectively become family over the course of your time in the backcountry. 

It doesn't matter if you've never been on a horse before, this team will make sure you are comfortable and confident as you march your way off the Ranch and into the Wilderness in your beautiful and organized single-file line. Nobody knows more about the wildflowers, recent burn areas, geography and geology as you cross over Wyoming's most rugged and least populated terrain than these guides, who offer amazing commentary as the scenery slides by.

This trip is equally about the journey as it is the destination, (which in our case was the mystical and mythical Hawk's Rest on the Thorofare) and once we arrived the incredible experience continued on. I didn't have expectations beyond sitting around the campfire and maybe some s'mores, but our days on the Thorofare were chock-filled with hikes, walks, additional rides, and further adventures - fishing the confluence of the Thorofare and Yellowstone Rivers, crossing the boundary into Yellowstone National Park, star gazing and wandering in the meadow with the horses. Daily plunges into the crystal-clear rivers were a must, and don't get me started on the gourmet meals! 

Aaron and Klint prepped (with Myra's help from the Ranch!) the most amazing fare - full sandwich lunches with snacks every day; hot breakfasts of sausage, eggs, pancakes; and incredible dinners ranging from a full steak per person to tuna steaks on the grill to hearty veggie pastas. Delicious and honestly shocking to have meals of such high caliber so deep in the backcountry.

The sleeping accomodations are borderline glamping - nice big tents that even a tall person is comfortable standing up in, plus cots and sleeping pads. I've never slept so well while camping. A bug tent kindly kept us protected during the worst mosquito times of day and the kitchen setup was impeccable.

After a few days of reflection I can truly say this is the trip of a lifetime. The quality time you will have with your friends or family or fellow travelers is unparalleled, the views are unbeatable, and the fresh mountain air will reset your mind body and spirit. Thank you so much to Turpin (but mostly Aaron, Elee, Klint and the amazing wonderdogs Pilgrim and Izzy) for showing us our incredible backyard. Highly recommend you take the chance to go off the grid with this team at least once in your life!

"Trip of a Lifetime" Pack Trip to the Thorofare

Our trip to Turpin Meadows is something we’ll remember for a long time.  The accommodations were incredible and the beautiful scenery surrounding the ranch is incredible.  It is conveniently located to both Grand Teton & Yellowstone National Parks.  We enjoyed excellent meals there and the whole staff makes you feel so welcome and really goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is memorable.  We did fly fishing with Ben and his passion and enthusiasm for the sport is something my son & I really appreciated and learned a ton about.  We did the horseback riding which took us through some pretty country as well as the ATV rides.  I sincerely thank Ron & Bobbi for doing such an incredible job and assembling such a fine team at the Ranch.  It was truly an experience we’ll cherish and hope we can return sooner than later!

Family Trip to Turpin Meadow

Joey was wonderful. Just a great tour guide, very knowledgeable about the state, was very attentive and took care of us on snowmobile trip. Did I forget to mention? The snowmobile trip was beautiful and very fun! I would say it’s the best guided trip I’ve ever been on! Not to mention, the tour has up to XXXL sizes for jackets, and all in all large sizes for my dad. If it weren’t for this my dad wouldn’t have been able to go with us, so a wide a variety of sizes for gear. The staff at the restaurant and the guides were all really great. Just super friendly and made the whole trip better. I keep forgetting to mention things but I had the BEST burger I’ve ever had there at the ranch (the TPR Burger). We had Joey on the ride back and he’s super easy to talk to, knowledgeable of the surrounding parks, cities and wildlife. Overall had an amazing experience and would rate the snowmobile tour and ranch an 11/10. Thank you very much to Joey and everyone else who helped make this trip special for me and my family.

Most amazing place we have ever been. Erin helped us set our trip up and was wonderful. We had great breakfast meals because of chef Myra. She was absolutely wonderful with her presentation of foods. We also had a great bar tender McKenna . She was so friendly and accommodating. Folks this is the place you need to go if you want an out of the way great place to stay. Great job Turpin meadow Ranch. 

Great place

Were a family of five with three kids aged 4,6,8. We found this place for dinner from google. Was a stunning drive into a beautiful tranquil setting with a delicious dinner. It was so good we booked in for a full family horse riding lesson the next morning. It was the best horse riding family session we've ever done - because they tailored it to the kids, and created a lesson where all of us could ride together. It was safe, and the kids learnt a lot. Big thanks to Ron and Bobbie and the team. If we come back to WY we'll be staying and going on a pack trip!

Our first fly fishing experience with Carter! We all caught fish— Carter was knowledgeable, interesting, and fun— really enthusiastic and a joy to be with!   In the backcountry, Carter kept us safe and the lunch was delicious and hearty!  

FLY FISHINGS NEWEST ENTHUIASTS!

I don’t know if I can put into words how much love I have for this magical place! Our family had never been to Wyoming and by chance decided on Turpin Meadow based off their website. TMR is rustic charm with upscale customer service, food, with the most breathtaking scenery you can imagine. My 9 year old was really wanting to go fishing so we signed up to go out for the day with Carter who, with his laid back demeanor and impressive knowledge of fly fishing, did not disappoint! He was so patient with the kids and all of them left with at least one catch and release for the day. Hillary was so helpful and accommodating with planning our activities and helped us check all the boxes we hoped to see and do on our trip. We went fly fishing, horseback riding, visited Yellowstone, and did some UTV riding. The ENTIRE wait staff in the kitchen were a pleasure and the chef absolutely delivered on serving up a delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ron and Bobbi have done an amazing job of creating a family like atmosphere with all of their staff and their dedication to making the Ranch an unforgettable destination truly showed. Our families look forward to going back to Turpin Meadow Ranch and having another fabulous vacation!!
