We stayed because everything was booked for The Iron Bowl. This is a Motel, and everyone that we saw, looked like they lived there as “working girls” with their pimps. The 2 advantages to this place, directly off the interstate and literally beside a Waffle House and Cracker Barrel. Notice we felt the need to keep a handgun with us.

Stay Here if Only Choice

I really tried to look on the bright side of my stay at this hotel but when we pulled up if it wasn’t for the new sign we thought it was an abandoned property.    The woman at the front desk was very nice and attentive after they unlocked the front door after check in time at 3:00 pm. 
The shower was nice with new tile and unlike some of the reviews I did have hot water. Construction activity was evident in many rooms and maybe in several months the work and conditions will improve.  But that’s about all I can muster on the positive side.  I get that most of the rooms were rented by people attending the football game but a $50 deposit is unusual for me to pay. 

Overall the location was great but the room was very dated and straight out of the 70’s

Had potential but needs a lot of work.

It has a small refrigerator  and safe in the room. The sheets were clean but worn. It is a motel, the doors open to the outdoors. I didn't feel unsafe but it was run-down. I would not stay here again. The shower/toilet are in a separate room from the sink.

Last minute hotel for game day

The hotel is just plain nasty, dirty, and really outdated everything. I do not recommend staying here. All the blankets and sheets are badly stained. Plug outlets hanging out of the wall. Exposed wires. Parking lot entrance looks like a rock and gravel pit! I really can’t say anything good about this place. Also the name on the building says OYO not spring wood

Don’t do it!

This motel must be visited by the health department.
Don’t be fooled by the low $56/- price. 
The place is filthy. 
Even the towels are not freshly washed.
Even had problems checking in.
Leave this property alone.
It does not even deserve 1 star!

Terrible! This motel is very run down and not habitable. Not worth the $56/- advertised price. Place is filthy!

Only thing I wish is I could rate this hotel at zero stars. All of the photos online are completely fraudulent. I would guess at one time when this hotel was actually a Springwood vs the Oyo hotel that it is now it may have been nicer. What you will find upon arrival is the closest thing to drug hotel without being one. The fact that its not a condemned property is absolutely amazing. We managed to find it within ourselves to enter our room just to find out it is as bad as It appears from the outside. Including dirty remade beds, dirty towels in the bathroom and hair on the toilet. Please do not waste your money. This hotel is a complete scam.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Made reservation through hotels.com and was never told name was OYO, it was listed as Springwood which made it hard to find.  Upon arrival found no one at night window and closed sign saying would return in morning.  After sleeping in my car I had to prove to clerk that I had a reservation and was then given a key for a room that was dilapidated and had backed up sewage in tub.

Worst motel I have ever been to

Would rate 0 if I could. Stayed here for 2 nights Iron Bowl weekend because everything else was booked. They advertise themselves as the OYO Hotel but still list Magnuson on their receipts. Upon check in was required to sign a document listing the hotel policies - this happened to be printed on the back of an Engineering Physics exam paper. Nothing was operational in the so called "lobby." Property is totally run down, pool was a disgusting color of green. First set of key cards to the room did not work. Upon finally getting entry to the room, non-smoking room reaked of a billards hall. Paint was peeling off the walls/ceiling, carpet was in desperate need of repair and bed linens were dirty. The towels that were provided were dirty. Would not stay here again even if it was my last resort - sleeping in the car would be like the Ritz compared to this slum.

Deplorable Conditions

First I was did not book this hotel but last minute Expedia changed my reservation to this hotel.  After going to 4 other hotels in the area we found this one with our reservation.  From the outside it look like an abandoned building.  We check-in to what look like motel room from the 1970's.  Gross carpet, with white bug powder on the floor.  Little roaches were scattering about.  Everything was molded, rusted and disgusting.  The outdoor pool look like a green swamp. It was the most disgusting place I had ever been. After a few hours I started itching so promptly left the hotel and drove home. It was so bad I could not stay the night.  I am shocked that this hotel is even open for business as clearly many health violations are being violated. I am even more annoyed that Expedia thought this hotel was acceptable.  I was curious who put excellent for this hotel and it was from 2014 and it they reviewed the wrong hotel. Do yourself a favor go somewhere else!  I wish I took more pictures but you can see the pool, the rust and the dirty bathtub. Gross!!

CANCEL YOUR RESERVATION THIS HOTEL SHOULD BE CONDEMNED!

The room was filthy, had mold and stank. The staff wasn't helpful and the coffee & juice were broken. There was dirty hair on the counter top, a dirty wash rag in the tub, only half a roll of toilet paper. We were afraid to sleep in anything besides our street clothes because of how nasty this place was.

The city of Opelika needs to CONDEMN this place!
