We are vendors at the annual World War II Weekend event in nearby Reading, PA. We always stay at this hotel. It's clean, comfortable, affordable, and the staff is great. This year, our van broke down and we had to stay beyond our reservation. The hotel and staff were very helpful and accommodating while we stayed over as the van was repaired. Morgantown is a 20-30-minute drive to the event, and the hotels there are available and affordable while Reading area hotels are usually booked this weekend (or expensive). Also, Morgantown has everything we need.

Once upon a time my husband and I were camping and it was our last night on the road and going to POUR. We needed someplace close by and well, cheap. This was not our plan but it became necessary. This place had a ready vacancy (no small wonder) but it doesn't take any level of genius to understand that it's not going to be a resort. Think of staying in a hotel somewhere in Monopoly-Land between Mediterranean and Connecticut  Blvd. Not a TOTAL dive but it's on the "Poor" side of the "Average" rating I've given it above. The staff gave us what I've affectionately dubbed "The Honeymoon Room" because we have a jacuzzi but oh no....I won't. I will say that the wi-fi is decent-ish and there's a good-size mini fridge and microwave-- not every hotel offers these anymore.  No coffee pot in the room but I can see Micky-D's down the hill.The soap smells nice. The towels are towels. Bring your own pillow....and flip flops. But hey....for 50 bucks what do ya expect?

On the Shabby Side of Chic in Another Era

Curiously, though I give it a poor rating, I would stay here again.  Which begs the question, WHY?

The problem with this location was with the quality of the beds.  And, in my opinion, a good bed and cleanness are the two most important things one looks for in a hotel.  Well, the rooms were clean, big, and actually very inviting.  And while it didn't offer a lot of amenities, It wasn't after all a luxury hotel, so I didn't anticipate a bunch of them.  (Cable TV and free WiFi were both nice to have though.)  But the beds were soft, one rolled to the middle.  On the other hand, we got a room with two queen beds, so my wife took one, I took the other, and we both got a good night's sleep, which is what we were looking for.  No, I wouldn't stay multiple days here.  But for simply getting a good night's sleep while traveling from point A to point B, and with the price being right, why not?  

But, sorry, you need a better (read that firmer) bed, one that two people could sleep in without rolling into one another in the center, if you want a better rating from me.

You get what you pay for. Cheapest motel in the area for a reason. It's not the worst I've ever seen. Room was cleaned well before our check in, has a working flat screen TV, AC, mini fridge, and microwave. Bathroom needs attentions. Walls have minor mold/mildew spots and our front balcony felt like it was going to collapse. Sheets and bed overall were cleaned and taken care of and like I said, it's cheap to stay here.

This hotel is Crooked…. I made reservations and the website showed free cancellation by a certain date however, after I had to cancel I found that they charge a $14.99 non refundable fee…. That is total BS…. I have tried contacting the hotel directly and their reservation company and to hear a recording stating there is at least a 30 minute waiting time. 

STAY AWAY FROM THIS RIP OFF HOTEL !!!!

this run down crap hole. it stinks its dirty and the owner is a thief. they make so little money that they charged my credit card twice for when i did not stay there.just bad people. beware they will steal from you

the worst kind of owner

I was traveling to Morgantown and needed a place to stay for one night.  I checked out the various listings of hotels and motels in the area, and settled on this.  Earlier reviews had not been good, but seemed to have improved in recent months.  I decided that it was worth a try.  The listing on a third-party travel site said that they were pet friendly.  They were not.

I made my reservation and arrived around 11PM  when I traveled.  The room was not in the main building that is pictured in the ad, but is in a smaller building across the road.  The 'non-smoking' room was said to provide two double beds and all other amenities.  

We arrived at the hotel and I checked in.  I learned that my room was in a smaller building across the driveway from the office.  

I drove over to that building.  We entered to find that the room was dirty, the furnishings worn and also dirty, and two of the three lamps in that room were broken.  The air was stale and had a very strange odor.  The carpets were filthy,  we found dirt in the drawers, and and there was nothing to convince us that  any deep cleaning had been done in that room in a long time.  Perhaps this was because the building was not connected to the main part of the hotel and was overlooked as a result.

The beds were lumpy and did not appear to be clean.  We travelers  ended up NOT sleeping between the sheets because we could't rule out the existence of unfriendly insects.  

Everything was dingy and dirty.  We decided that we needed to sleep atop the   beds and not between the sheets.  

The bathroom did have a clean bathtub.  The toilet had some hard water stains.

There were no amenities for drying your hair after a shower.  I decided to find food elsewhere.

If I pass through Morgantown again, I will be certain not to stay at this place.  And I will not recommend itl

Filthy, run down, unpleasant, misleading establishment.

This was by far the most disgusting hotel i have ever been too. Beyond filthy. My socks are back and ruined from the dirty carpet. There was dead bugs smashed onto the walls that house keeping never cleaned. dead bugs in the shower. someone else hair all over the shower walls, the sink, the bathroom floor and all over the pillows. pulled back the blanket to find nothing more than a rollaway bed and stains all over the sheets. and the smell in the room was just horrible. unfortunitly there was no other available hotel room the night i stayed but the room was so bad that i ended up sleeping in my car and showering at a truck stop. hotel looks nothing at all like the pictures they show. and the staff is no where near friendly and inviting. old and run down.

Most disgusting hotel i have ever been in

Wife and I went to visit my daughter at Hopewell Furnace and booked 2 nights here.
Location was good but hotel was disgusting. Room had a bad odor, there were food remnants on the base board heaters  and bottle caps on the floor near the night stand. The bathroom looked worse than a truck stop, hair and bugs on the floor...tried to get another place but some event in Philadelphia booked all hotels in the area.....so as I went to bed I noticed that there was no battery in the smoke alarm.....had to run to the office and get one from front desk and put it in myself. 

Free breakfast consisted of packaged moon pies and some type of cereal in a Tupperware container, not sure how old that was......no juice or milk but they did have cold coffee. When we were departing it appeared the owners were there and when I started to give my feedback the older woman just looked at me and walked away...the younger man at least apologized but that was all.  If i was traveling alone I would have slept in my car.
