This place looks like they finished building it and put the finishing touches on it yesterday.  Everything is brand new and it is sparkling clean and tastefully decorated.  The place is stocked with everything you could need.  Nice and plentiful towels, hair dryer, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, extra pillows and blankets.  This isn't technically part of their B&B so breakfast wasn't included but they provided us with a plate of fresh fruit as well as some goodies (raisin bread, bagels w/butter & cream cheese, juice, etc.) in the fridge.  Maid service is included in this two room "apartment".  The view of Hilo Bay from both the bedroom and the living/dining room was very pretty.  We found both Garvin and Laura to be friendly and accommodating.  They are only about five miles outside of Hilo.  If you need a place to stay in or near Hilo, this is it.

Great place to stay in Hilo

We stayed at the Makai Rooms at the end of December in 2014, and enjoyed our stay. Laura and Gavin were very helpful and make our stay very comfortable. The rooms were very well maintained, and having a kitchenette was very convenient. The bathroom was clean, and well stocked, and the kitchenette had all the required basic glassware and utensils. The drive to downtown Hilo was less than 15 min. The property is centrally located close to the Akaka falls and the Botanical gardens. The property has laundry facility that we were allowed to use (a must when you travel with little kids!). Overall, I highly recommend this rental place.

Excellent Stay, Comfortable rooms and a short drive to Hilo

In late October we stayed in the Makai Room, in an adjoining building on the Goode's farm, for 5 nights.  These do not come with the breakfast, which Garvin told us before we confirmed our reservation.  But this was perfect for us and anyone else looking to get an early start on touring.  The suite was lovely.  Separate living room equipped with couch, TV, table/chairs, frig, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishes/glasses, and utensils.  Perfect for the local delicacies we purchased and brought back.  They did the dishes. The bedroom had an air conditioner which we never really needed to use.  But nice to have just in case.  Laura and Garvin were wonderful hosts.  The B&B is situated on a beautiful little farm  We can't say enough good things and highly recommend  the B&B.
