This B&B was very comfortable, clean, enjoyed the history about the home, breakfast was excellent and even had to ask them to reduce the size for the next day, everything you could want was available. Close enough to town, area attractions yet far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet. Will stay again on my next trip.

Salt Lake Great B & B

We absolutely loved Engen Hus.  We were immediately welcomed by Esther and shown all the common features including the guest kitchen, snack bar and coffee/tea station, 2 common living areas (upstairs and downstairs) furnished with comfortable furniture as well as work tables or game tables, and the outside patio area which includes a hot tub, fire pit, and a table and chairs.  The house was built by the 3 famous ski brothers who came from Norway but settled in Utah. The place was so open and beautifully decorated.  There are 3 choices for breakfast with very generous portions and healthy food.  Esther was so interesting to talk to and a very gracious hostess.  She had rescued a baby bird and had styled a little incubator for it.  She shared the baby bird with another guest and us, feding it with an eye dropper.  Bedding is super lux and the mattress was very comfortable.  The bathrooms are spacious, and some have large showers and others a tub/shower combo, all recently redone and modern.  Location  was great in a lovely neighborhood away from the city but easy to get to with a short drive, plus easy to reach all the ski areas.  We will definitely be back to Engen Hus when we come back to Salt Lake City.

Beautiful home, delicious breakfast, and friendly hostess

Esther was an amazing host! I booked this B&B to celebrate my husband’s birthday & it was exactly the type of atmosphere I hoped for! The location to the city was absolutely perfect - nestled into the foothills in a charming area of town but close enough to SLC to explore all the city had to offer & only 20 min from Park Cities. The house itself gives off those romantic cabin vibes, the huge beautiful trees on the property were all changing to those lovely fall colors. We stayed in the downstairs room Corey, king sized bed, comphy sheets (if you know - you know) & HEATED bathroom floors, spacious and high vaulted ceilings. The breakfasts were equal parts beautiful & delicious - there were four options to choose from. We enjoyed the hot tub one night & sat by the fire in the main room another afternoon read our books… We didn’t get the chance to sit by the fire pit but I wish we could’ve! There was a full coffee & tea bar to keep ourselves caffeinated and comfortable. Adorable mini fridge full of local beer, sparkling water, cokes & a little snack bar suitable for all those mid afternoon munchies. Esther also made warm hot fresh cookies mid afternoon!!! I couldn’t be happier with our visit & will definitely be back.

Romantic Birthday Getaway

Esther is a wonderful host with a beautiful spirit.   Her attentiveness to detail make this B&B a quiet, comfortable place with convenience to activities, downtown sites, and beautiful scenic drives.  The breakfast is amazing!  We actually had to skip lunch both days because breakfast was so plentiful.

Quaint B&B

Wonderful stay.  Brought take out and ate in the backyard.  Took advantage of the hot tub, snacks, and drinks.  Room and bed very comfortable.  Home made breakfast was great.  Our host Esther very friendly and accommodating.

Perfect stay

My wife and I recently traveled to Salt Lake City to visit with our newly relocated son, and the Engen Hus was the perfect home base for that event. Esther could not have been more accommodating, and her breakfasts were the highlights of our mornings. This will be our Salt Lake City home-away-from-home!

Perfect spot for a family retreat

Eden Hus is a step up from the traditional hotels with first class breakfast and service with friendly hosts providing the comforts of home, while having the amenities of a hotel. 

Location is optimal for business retreats as it is 20 min away from the airport, great location for skiers wanting to ski during the day, while enjoying a nice dinner downtown Salt Lake, and lastly a great place for solo travelers. 

The rooms are spacious, clean and have state of the art bathrooms.  There is even a jacuzzi outside that can be enjoyed all year around. I was here on business and could work in the lobby with high speed internet. Highly recommend this place... Will be back.

Hidden Jewel in Salt Lake City for retreats, skiing and business

So we made an impromptu trip to Salt Lake City in order to visit Arches National Park and some other sites in Utah.  We needed to travel somewhere, and Utah doesn't have any ridiculous Covid-19 travel restrictions in place.  We googled for a B&B that has a piano, and in a serendipitous twist of fate, up popped Engen Hus B&B.
I can't say enough nice things about this B&B.  The proprietors are salt-of-the-earth type of people.  I mean, if you needed a shirt, they are literally the type of people who would give you the shirt off their back.  Their home is immaculately clean, and the bedrooms are extremely well-appointed.  I don't know where they bought their mattresses, but I want one!  The linens, pillows, and bedding are all first-rate.  The location is dark and quiet, and very conducive to a good night's sleep. The bathrooms are well appointed and large, with very nice and functional showers..  The custom design and layout of the house is very attractive and warm.  There is a fire pit and hot tub available for guest use, but we didn't partake in those.  This B&B does in fact have a piano, and they were more than happy to let my son do his daily practice on it.  The owners of the house have hired a beautiful girl from North Carolina to run the business, and she does an excellent job in interacting with the guests and taking care of them.  If we ever go back to the Salt Lake City area, this is definitely our place!

Fantastic Find South of Salt Lake City

Visited for a "guys" long ski weekend. Perfect mix of hotel-like private rooms and baths and cozy common spaces in which to "hang out" and share stories from the slopes and the old days. Terrific multi-course home-cooked breakfast served buffet-style, with gracious and warms hosts. Hot-tub in the backyard and gas fireplace in the living room were perfect add-ons. Close to all four ski areas in the Cottonwood Canyons, and easy access to the highways for longer trips, including to downtown SLC. A great alternative to the ski lodges for those who want a similar feeling without the altitude sickness.

Great base for skiing or any visit to Salt Lake Valley

We wanted a nearby "get-away" for our anniversary.  Couldn't have chosen a better spot.  So much better than a hotel. Great, clean room.  Exceptional hospitality. Best breakfast ever.  Highly recommended.
