Husband and I stayed for 3 nights in the Gurnet Light room, the inn is right on the ocean, we loved our stay there it was perfect, we had the run of the house the 3 days we stayed there it was so beautiful there, I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for some r & r. The Inn is so pretty and has such nice decor, the room was cute, there is a nice little balcony right out your window, we listened to the waves all day and nite, the sunrises and sunsets were breathtaking,  sat out on their beautiful deck the whole time, also had the  breakfasts there, we had eggs, bacon, delicious muffins, pastries, we hit the grocery store and took advantage of the refrigerator and the microwave oven so that we didn't have to leave our little sanctuary, if you are looking for a great few days away and want some good sleep go there. Also would like to thank Heather she is a great Innkeeper and she did what she could to make you feel right at home, so friendly!   Big thanks from Bear and Jane!!!

Birthday get away

This was our first time at Oceanside Inn and after reading some of the reviews we were somewhat concerned but thought we would see for ourselves.  Quite frankly I am not sure of the reason for some of the negative reviews; we thought it was a terrific place.

Oceanside is right on the ocean.  For those not used to this type of home perhaps it was a first impression that caused a problem.  This type of home is elevated to prevent it from flooding in very bad weather and it is not landscaped because the salt water will kill any landscaping.  This house is on a street of similar houses so if you are not used to this, it might be a shock.

Once you get inside it is immaculate and very well maintained.  Keep in mind that this type of home is also difficult to keep perfect due to being right on the water so there may be a water stain here or there, the windows may not be perfectly clean, etc.  Nevertheless, the location on the ocean is a huge plus and outweighs any minor blemishes that one might find as a result.  We had a lovely room with a couch, a porch, and a king size bed.  The view was of the ocean and was quite lovely.  The room was clean and very well maintained.  We like to read and the room had plenty of lamps providing ample lighting.  The only thing we found was the doorknob screws to the bathroom were a little loose but no problem.  We mentioned it and it was fixed.  We would have also liked a working clock in the room; again not a big deal.  Everything else was in perfect working order.

Our host was Heather who was delightful; she is the niece of the owner who is a veteran but does not usually live in the house.   We really enjoyed talking with Heather and she was a great cook.  She made us a full breakfast both days we were there, including a fruit cup, muffins, and other pastries.  I am lactose intolerant and she happily accommodated this; there was almond milk and the pancakes she made were also lactose free and gluten free not to mention delicious.  The dining area overlooks the ocean and in the summer time there is a large patio where you can eat outside.

The room rate was extremely reasonable; it was off season.  One strange thing is that they did add a service charge rather than include it in the room rate.  Even with the service charge the room was a bargain.  

I would highly recommend the Oceanside Inn to anyone looking for a great place on the ocean and not for a magnificently landscaped property.—the ocean is the landscape!!!  You won’t be disappointed.  We were a bit skeptical at first but are very glad we chose Oceanside Inn and will definitely return.

Right on the ocean -- Immaculate -- Great Breakfasts

This was one of the most beautiful hotels/b&bs I have ever seen or stayed at. The location and view were absolutely stunning. We stayed in the Boston Light room but also saw the other three and truth be told I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. The layout of the room was perfect, you could easily lay on the bed or sit on the couch and watch the waves crashing down below. We even slept with the sliding glass door cracked to listen to the waves at night and never once thought about turning on the TV. The innkeeper, Heather, was marvelous and made mornings almost feel like you were staying with a long lost cousin. She was really nice and funny and also a fantastic cook. Unbelievably good pancakes let me tell you. Also, I'm a bit of a dork when it comes to teacups and they had the cutest set of tiny teapots with matching cups. Adorable! 
I really wish I had been there for longer and with a little bit better weather because I would have loved to enjoy breakfast on the deck or even just a little sunbathing and reading. That is probably my only disappointment.
While I thoroughly enjoyed my trip, the B&B had some interesting qualities that might not be for everyone. If you're looking for a boring, cookie cutter hotel, this is not your place. The building is a beautiful beach house with lots of character which yes includes uneven ceilings and floors. Also, the rooms are not huge but that didn't matter to me because of the other perks involved. Since the four rooms are close together there may be some noise traveling but not nearly as much as I had expected. Finally, the innkeeper is usually there in the morning only. Personally I liked this because it felt more homey but if you want someone to cater to you every second, this may not be your best choice. Overall, I loved my stay and think most people will enjoy it as much as I did.

Only wish it could have lasted longer!

With a little maintenance TLC this would be a 5/Excellent rating.  However,  we loved the location, our cozy room, the pretty common areas, the fabulous service by Heather... but most of all, we lloved the ocean breaking on the rocky shore right under our balcony! 
We were lucky to be the only guests for our 1 night stay.  We had the place to ourselves & thoroughly enjoyed the late afternoon in Scituate & the evening watching TV while enjoying a bottle of wine.  We woke up in time to experience a gorgeous sunrise!
If you want new/modern this isn't the place for you.   But if you love cozy & friendly with the ocean below your balcony-go here!

We Loved Our Stay Here!

This is the worst hotel or inn I have ever stayed in. We were invited as a birthday surprise by family, and it saddens me that money was wasted on this stay. The place is completely lacking in any hospitality, convenience, or modern updates. It is dirty, run-down, and probably unsafe. It would take hours to fully describe the state of disrepair, so I will let the photos speak for themselves. Please save your money and seek another property.
