I had the pleasure of staying at the Independence Plaza Hotel, and it exceeded all expectations! The boutique hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Aspen, the hotel offers unparalleled access to the best the city has to offer—shopping, dining, and outdoor activities are all just steps away.

From the moment I arrived, the staff was warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive. The room was a blend of modern comfort and rustic elegance, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The attention to detail in the decor and amenities made it feel like a luxurious home away from home.

An unforgettable stay in the heart of Aspen

Fantastic location, right near the bus stop to go to Snowmass and Buttermilk, also right in the middle of Aspen, so an easy walk to all the restaurants. Lovely staff and the rooms were clean and charming - very highly recommended!

Loved this place…amazing location in the heart of Aspen, steps away from the gondola. Staff was very friendly, we didn’t have a car so not sure about that aspect. We loved the hot tub on the roof and the complimentary breakfast was nice too!

Great place!

This was the PERFECT location to everything Aspen. You do not need a car for anything given the buses, shuttles, etc. which are all free are right outside your front door. If you are going to BellyUp, there is no better place to say. I know other reviews mentioned noise but it was super quiet from my condo. The stairs are VERY minimal so not sure what the other reviews are referencing. The front desk staff were kind and always available. The breakfast was just that...continental so you shouldn't expect more than that. In fact, they have more than I have seen at other continentals. Plus, you are just steps from sooooo many resteraunts so there are a plethora of options. The Independence Square is centrally located to all the shops as well. No car is necessary. Just take a car service from the Aspen Airport. Locals were amazing. The Aspen airport on the other hand...but that is a different review. I highly recommend Independence Square. This review is based on the condo I stayed in so choose wisely!! Actually view them and request the one you want.

And helpful. In terms of hours worked, the staff was slammed via a surprise resignation. They were still always cheerful and helpful. They also put in extra time very early to ready the continental breakfast for those rugby tournament players in need of it at that time.

Quirky nice hotel with a great central location.  The entrance to the hotel is on the pedestrian plaza so you can't drive any closer than 50-100 feet.  The entrance is a stairwell below ground.  So you have to lug your luggage from the car to the stairs then down 2 flights of stairs to the elevator.  The rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building, there are stores on the first floor.  We had a late check in so they gave us the security code to get in and our info/room key was at the lobby desk.  Our room was very large with a good view.  We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed it.  fridge, microwave and sink, walk in closet.  The hotel is right next to Belly Up - the concert venue at Aspen.  There were shows while we were there and you could hear it, and the patrons when they left late at night.  Roof top area was very nice.  We did not try the hot tub, but it looked nice.  Location is right in the heart of Aspen, pretty much everything is easily walkable.  Parking in Aspen is a royal pain.  The hotel will give you a pass for your car and then you can park on any residential street, but they are not near the hotel, so  you will be walking a few blocks to your car.  This was not a problem for us as once we parked we didn't go back to our car til we left. The free bus service main station is right next door - including the bus to Aspen Highlands  which takes you to the Maroon Bells shuttle.  This definitely is the easiest and cheapest way to go to Maroon Bells.  The gondola to the top of the mountain is a block or 2 away.  Shops and restaurants are very close.  Overall a good place to stay, however if you have any physical disabilities this may be a difficult one to navigate.

Great location and room, quirky entrance

This small hotel is in the heart of Aspen.  Be aware though that you have to go down two short flights of stairs to enter.  Not ideal for those who don't walk well.  No parking!  They give you a  hang tag for free parking in designated areas.  You may end up parking a quarter mile or more away.  Very challenging.  Room was clean.  Continental breakfast was okay too.

Excellent location

booked condominium 303 for 3 nights in prime holiday season as way of keeping the cost of a prime time trip down. The room was spacious with nice seating area...everything was clean and a comfy bed. Staff are minimal as you would expect...though very helpful...breakfast was a simple affair

Location is right by the bus station for the bus to other mountains....maybe a 3 minute walk from the silver queen gondola and centrally placed for shops and restaurants

the only slight issue was noise...from revellers in the street (its not too far from the bellyup club)....or worse was the snow cleaning crew starting at about 6am...so not a problem if it does not snow!

great location...good value in prime season

The Bad, I had to stay on the hide away couch which was broken and the couch pillow zippers were split.  After a second request they brought a roll-away.  When you enter from the street you have to go down a couple of sets of stairs to the lobby.  The continental breakfast is limited and starts at 7:30AM.  All that said the location is across the street from the free transit system that takes you anywhere in the Aspen Snowmass area.  Aspen Mountain gondola (Ajax to the locals) is 1 block from the front door.  The Hot tub is on the roof offering beautiful views.  Restaurants surround the hotel.  Super convenient!  The 4 stars are mainly for the location and convenience for skiing.
