Pre Christmas get away

Judy was wonderful and Alex the bartender was the best.  The bar/dining area is so quaint and cozy.  We had dinner and the food was plentiful and delicious.   Our room was clean and you can't beat views of the Delaware River. 
 We will definitely be back.

Wonderful one day getaway!

Awesome stay clean beds great view very nice bathroom and shower. everything working and nice staff come here you will enjoy your stay. very nice breakfast and nice food and very helpful staff. Big nice balcony and nice working TV. and medium size closet.

Our family visited Philadelphia for a family wedding.  We had a good time.

Our niece recommended staying at the 1740 House, and we are glad she did.

The Building

While most of the property was built in the 1960s, and significantly upgraded since 2000, the main sitting room, where they serve the coffee, and the one bedroom, were actually built in 1740!!!

The property is right next to the Delaware River, the longest free-flowing / un-dammed river on the East Coast; both the NJ and PA side have canals; the 1740 house is immediately on the canal, which is immediately next to the River… the views from the main building and from the rooms are wonderful!

Breakfast was included; you order on paper sheets the night before.  Breakfast is GOOD!  We enjoyed:

- broccoli fritatta with bacon

- Belgian waffle with big pieces of sugar mixed in, for a nice, light crunch, with apple topping with bacon - phenomenal

- they have coffee and cream, tea, and also yogurt, bread/muffins, etc.
- And they have bacon!
- Did I mention how phenomenal the Belgian waffles are?  They are phenomenal!!!

The Rooms

The rooms are similar and unique.  The beds are so nice; not too soft like other placed; high / tall beds that are firm… nice.  Strong radiator heat is readily offset by cracking the window to maintain just the right temperature.

Irons and ironing boards in each room, to make sure you look your best.

TVs are in a hutch with doors that you can keep closed and not see the electronics - NICE!

Wonderful B&B + Restaurant on the Delaware River... fantastic hosts

The B&B was extremely comfortable and all the employees were really nice. The food at the restaurant was good but not exceptional. My wife and I highly recommend staying there for a getaway. The views from our room were beautiful and a walk across the pedestrian bridge was delightful.

A quick getaway from daily routine

What an awesome, cozy, wonderful place! Went for a fall foliage birthday weekend and had a great time! Everyone at 1740 is super nice.  The Club tavern experience is great (Alec the server was so nice and fun!).  Perhaps most importantly, my room was adorable and comfortable.  The view of the Delaware river was spectacular and the fireplace was lovely.  All in all - such a great stay full of charm and warmth!

Wonderful Charming Inn with Exceptional Views!

We spent two nights at the 1740 House so we could explore the biking, hiking, and cute towns along the Delaware River.  The inn is about 6.5 miles north of New Hope and provides a quiet respite for those wanting to enjoy the area without being in the middle of the busy downtown center.  We had room 5 which was a king room on the first floor and had a patio overlooking the river.  The accommodations were quite comfortable and clean and the breakfast options included cold and hot items.  The staff was very pleasant and helpful and provided information on local restaurants and the bike trails.  I would definitely recommend the 1740 House for travelers to the New Hope/Lambertville area. 

Peaceful inn on the Delaware River

This is not my first stay at the 1740 House and not my first review, either.  This time was different in that I went for business rather than pleasure.   Full disclosure, I expected a Vacation Like stay, and got it!  

I was traveling to PA to visit with clients in both Yardley and Easton.  How convenient that the 1740 House was in between!  I immediately went to book on line via my company, but only the chains were on the 'approved' listing.  So yes, I did call my Director, who called my VP, who advised me to call into our Booking Agent and request an exception.  Which they did!

I love it here.  It was my first time in Room 16 (we normally stay in Room 2 with our dogs) and could not have been happier.  My drive was VERY eventful with rain and hail and wind and everything else so to arrive at the 1740 House was like coming to visit an old friend ... warm and comforting all at once.

Scott booked me in a room with a fireplace (LOVED it) and the ONLY thing that could have possibly made it better would have been The Club being open that night.  The food here is 'to die for' and breakfast the next day did not disappoint.

Thank you, Scott, for making both my business trips and my pleasure trips so worth it!  See you again soon!!

Yep, my company made an exception!

My husband surprised me for our anniversary, and it was just terrific. The staff was top-notch, the room was beautiful, and the breakfast was delicious! The innkeepers were knowledgeable and helpful. Our anniversary was “burger night” at the inn, and, although we love burgers, we were looking for something a little more romantic. On the innkeeper recommendation, we went down the road a bit to The Black Bass for dinner. It was perfect and very much appreciated. We will definitely return to the 1740 House in the near future!

Wonderful stay

After a day hiking at the Delaware Water Gap to take in the autumn leaves, we overnighted at this very comfortable inn. Easy self check in, charming room, and extraordinary location on the river. We enjoyed a surprisingly good dinner within walking distance at the The Black Bass, recommended to us by our inn keeper. In the morning, we opened our blinds on a gorgeous scene of sun on leaves as the river flowed quietly by. Delicious breakfast on our terrace. Friendly, unpretentious, accommodating, and lovely. Quieter than New Hope down the road. We'll be back.
