The boat has rooms of various sizes including a central "meeting" room with a fabulous fireplace and lots of chairs where you can have a great chat with friends and acquaintances. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very clean. I would very much like to go there again in the future.

Cozy Great Fireplace

We had a Great Girls night at The Covington Inn B&B. We rented the Pilot Suite which had a bedroom with a Fireplace and also a room upstairs with a pull out couch and a table and was surrounded by windows which was great because you could see alot of the Mississippi River, it also had a Deck you could go outside if you wanted to but it is Winter LOL. Liz the owner was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed also her boyfriend the Host was awe too. Didn't make much difference that it is winter it was still very fun. I would Highly recommend going to The Covington Inn for a evening for a night away you won't regret it.

Girls Night

If you are looking for a romantic interlude or a place to relax on your own, this gem is a good choice for you. I surprised my husband with this getaway for our fifth anniversary, and we enjoyed every minute and wish we had booked two nights instead of one.￼ We had the smallest room, but you would never know it. The room included a private deck outdoors￼ where  we noticed a pair of orioles that had taken up residence. The innkeeper makes an incredible breakfast and is a delightful hostess. Take our advice and book 2 nights!￼

Oasis on the water

We were hoping to find a special place to spend a couple of nights where we could feel "COVID safe". The quaint converted towboat - Covington Inn - was perfect! It was easy to maintain privacy on the large outdoor deck with expansive Mississippi River views and stunning evening views of downtown St. Paul. We arrived by boat and enjoyed cruising north on the Mississippi to the Minnesota River - luckily it was a rare warm early November weekend! The owner, Liz, served us delicious breakfasts out on the deck - masked of course! We'll be back!

Great Option During COVID

My wife and I were suffering cabin fever and wanted a unique experience and this sure is that.  The boat is so neat. Great accommodations. Super host.  Wonderful breakfast, and the upler deck for evening break unequaled.  Would really recommend.


Covid retreat 

A unique B&B experience on a tugboat! Charming accommodations with awesome views of the river, river boat (barge/boat) activities and the downtown St. Paul skyline. We stayed in the Pilot House Suite that had a bedroom with fireplace and a private sitting area (in the pilot house) and private outside deck. It was everything we expected and more. Simple, clean accommodations. We enjoyed adult beverages and the city lights on the outdoor deck until the chill sent us inside. We ordered food delivered from a nearby restaurant and enjoyed that in the main salon/dinner area with a view of the river and passing barges. Liz is a wonderful hostess and breakfast was awesome. If you haven't ventured to a B&B yet, this would be a great place to try the experience out! 

Unique B&B experience!

We just had a really amazing stay at the Covington Inn.  We stayed in the Pilot House room which was an awesome experience.  The views of downtown St. Paul are incredible and having the second floor with all of the old controls and everything was really cool, including the deck.  Liz was great, as was Bill who checked us in.  He was warm and accommodating and told us restaurants that deliver (since it was somewhat snowing the night we stayed).  Breakfast was wonderful, Liz and Bill even got it out to us quickly since we had to run off to the airport.  The bed was comfortable, the bathroom worked great, and we had no issues.  The heat was totally fine. 

I read some other reviews on here of people who apparently don't know what it is like to even be on a boat - yes the bathrooms are narrow, yes some of the hallways and stairs are cramped.  If you are extremely tall, overweight, or have disabilities than yes this may not be the place for you.  I am 5'10 and fit in the shower and in the doorways just fine.  Yes the parking lot is a slight walk from the boat but if you have a bag with wheels you can simply roll it up to the boat.  The boat doesn't even move, you can't feel a thing.

If you are someone who isn't high maintenance and is up for a really unique and amazing experience than definitely check this place out.  We would gladly stay again.

Excellent Stay at the Covington Inn

Liz is the perfect hostess!  We stayed for two nights.  It was very relaxing on the river.  The view across the Mississippi at night was fabulous. The breakfast of French toast and fruit with sausages filled us up for the day.  Liz had great suggestions for dinner.
We took scooters provided by Spin.  Fun riding around in the park.  We took a trip up the river all the way to see the Stone Arch Bridge. (We came by boat.)

Great view and breakfasts!

The Covington is a singularly unique B&B that you have to experience! The hosts are fantastic, the breakfast is fresh and delicious, and the location is convenient yet very quiet (unless something would be going on at Harriet Island Park). The boat itself is very charming, and does have some tight corners/stairs and smaller corridors. It's a comfortable and highly memorable inn that you should definitely visit. Plus the views of downtown right on the river are incredible, even in the frozen months (I would image much better during a warm summer night).

Cozy and Unique Inn with Great Skyline View

The view was spectacular. When I went to bed at night the lights of downtown St. Paul were dancing on the river. When I opened my eyes first thing in the morning right out my window was the skyline bathed in sunlight and my head was still on the pillow. There was a cozy fireplace and two comfortable chairs waiting for us in our room when we returned from a show. It was a unique satisfying experience staying at The Covington Inn Bed and Breakfast: )
