Love this place! Centrally located, clean, spacious rooms and friendly and accommodating staff. They really go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. This is my second time here and I'll be back again next year.

Great location, knowledgeable and friendly staff

The hospitality at this lodge was amazing! While we were still half an hour from arriving the host called us and asked us if we had eaten yet. She recommend the most kid friendly places along our route, so that we could eat before arriving. It was the kindest gesture. 

When we arrived she sat down with me and told me about all the best food and stops in the area. She then showed me the rooms in detail. She told us to call if we needed anything, but we didn't! 

We had adjoined queen rooms with a kitchenette, which was perfect for our group of 7 including 3 kids. The mini fridge was able to fit quite a lot that I had packed in a cooler for our trip. 

We only saw other guests once in the parking lot the whole time we were there, and the parking lot was full when we arrived. It was a lovely quiet stay.

The rooms had one firm bed and one plush bed, which was perfect! We slept well! 

The location was perfect for our itinerary. We took the cog up Mt. Washington, drove the Kancamagus, and hiked the Flume Gorge. 

I would absolutely stay here again!

Wonderful stay and hospitable host!

I am going to say this upfront:  this property is dated.  HOWEVER, the room was incredibly clean, the bed super comfortable.  Plenty of hot water and great water pressure.  Did I say VERY clean?  The host was incredibly friendly and helpful.  

Just dandy

This was a return visit.  I had stayed there years ago with several families.  Some rooms have kitchens/kitchenettes.  I found everything clean and in working condition.  Lots of spaces for people to gather in comfortable chairs, sofas.  About 5 miles from Breton Woods ski area.  Definitely on my list of places to return to.  .

Wonderful, family friendly lodge. Great place for families because there are lots of spaces to sit and socialize.

Thank you Carol and her son for the wonderful hospitality. The rooms were clean and cozy. You feel like you’re home when you stay here. The location is great, close to all main attractions   We will definitely be back!

We love this place

We recently stayed for 5 nights at Carlson’s Lodge and it was perfect for us. It’s close to Franconia Notch, Crawford Notch and Mt. Washington which allowed us to take full advantage of the outstanding hikes in the area and enjoy the excellent fall color in the mountains. We were lucky enough to get one of the Deluxe Corner rooms with a kitchenette which made it easy to prepare meals and not have to worry about eating out. Both beds (firm and plush) were very comfortable, and there are multiple charging areas for all of your devices. What really sets this place apart are the owners, Carol and Will. They were very helpful and accommodating and we enjoyed our many interactions with them, giving our stay a personal touch you just can’t find at most hotels.

Enjoyable stay

This is a quaint little lodge that very accessible to many of the area attractions. The owners were very helpful with things to do & places to eat. The room was clean, the beds were perfect 1 hard & 1 soft, whichever you prefer! And the shower! I cannot say how great that was after a long day of riding! Great pressure & plenty of hot water! Would definitely stay here again!!

Couple’s motorcycle trip

Carol and her son are really on top of their hospitality game. The rooms are just big enough, AC works great, and everything is clean. The furniture might be a little older but it gives the rooms and the lodge that rustic touch that you want when you stay in this area. She gave us fantastic recommendations at check in as well. There’s a comfy porch and fire pit area that’s perfect for watching the stars at night or soaking in the mountain views.

Rustic charm and clean

We had a last minute change in plans due to a hiking injury. Carol at Carlson's was very helpful. Our stay turned out better than we expected. The room had everything we needed. We brought back our dinner and ate outside with beautiful views of the mountains. Carol gave us very personal attention, providing suggestions for nearby activities (we could still do).

Excellent stay!

This place was a last chance at a room for the night. The price was within our budget and the woman who runs the place was so helpful. The room was clean, and spacious. We had a view of a beautiful garden. There are also rooms that overlook the mountains. Covid protocols are followed at all times which we greatly appreciated. We will definitely stay here again.
