I book the Zion National Park Lodge (one of their cabins) as an add-on day between the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas.  While the cabin room (which is a duplex) was not inexpensive, it did not break the bank either.  I was very satisficed with the cost of the room.

The lodge operator mailed us the parking tag and information about check in and the gate code well in advance, so do not forget to pack these when you head to the park.  The road through the canyon is buses only, so you will need to have the gate code to get onto the road and drive to the lodge, which is right in the middle of the canyon.

Check in was a snap.  She pointed to our cabin on a map and suggested where we park.  We did have to haul our luggage to the cabin, bit it wasn't bad.  The room was cute.  A decent bed (with not great pillows) in the main room with a table and chairs and a desk to one side.  The ceiling is vaulted, which makes the place feel spacious.  There is a bathroom that feels a little old fashion (but nice) and an area with a second sink and storage.  It was quaint.  

There is also a fireplace, which we did not use, and a combo AC/Heater (which we did use).  That was sort of loud, which means I slept great, as I am a fan person.  There is no TV and pretty much no Wi-Fi signal from the main lodge, so be prepared for that.  You will not be connected. 

You just can't beat the location.  We were on a bus, headed to the Riverwalk Trail, before people started streaming in from the Visitor Center parking area.  It was a pretty nice morning walk out to the Narrows Trailhead and back before the crowds arrived.

The Cabin we Stayed in was very Nice.

I stayed with my family (wife, 14, 11, 7yo) during spring break at the Zion Lodge.  We stayed in one of the suites on the second floor.  The suite had two rooms with a Jack-and-Jill bath, with 2 bathroom sinks and cabinets outside the locked toilet and shower room.  There was a microwave and small fridge.  The room was clean and well-apportioned, and actually fairly large.  There was a nice, good sized balcony with excellent views across the canyon.  Though the lodge was expensive, it was very nice, clean, quiet, and provided a nice base from which to explore the park without the really long lines for the shuttles at the Visitor's Center.  

Some things about the lodge:  the roll away bed and the sofa-bed were actually comfortable, so that was nice; staying in the lodge allows you to drive in the park, which is otherwise not allowed in the canyon--don't forget the pass and gate code that they send you, though; the restaurant (fairly good), gift shop, and beer garden are all close; some close trails (e.g., Emerald Pools) are really good; and be aware of the shuttle schedule, because they don't run super late, even though this is a dark-sky park and the lights immediately around the lodge itself make it hard to appreciate it (and it would be nice to get away).  

Overall, this is a good place for families, if a bit expensive.

Good home base for seeing Zion, Nice for families

As we were trying to visit Zion, Bryce & Grand Canyon with one day in each park it was difficult to complete our goals. However, because we stayed at the lodge which is in the center of everything we had a fantastic time at Zion. We were able to do a horse back ride . Staff was wonderful and the price of $60 was good. Did the dry walk of the Narrows at tram stop #9. Then the next day drove out through unbelievable scenic Carmel Tunnel. Hotel was worth every penny. Little more than staying outside the park. But who cares. The nearby Lodge restaurant was pretty good too. Reasonable prices. Wife had the trout and I had the soup & salad. We have been to most N.P.'s  and my favorite are as follows, not necessarily in this order. Glacier, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon & Zion.

Zion Joins My List of My Favorite Parks

We have come to Zion many times. This was the first time that we stayed at the Zion Lodge in the park. Not only does it have a great location, but we were very happy with the restaurant, our room, and the service that we received. The room itself was much better than the rooms in many other lodges at National Parks.

Great

Our family found it very convenient to stay in the Zion Lodge when visiting Zion in February. Room was nice and clean and had a balcony. The lodge restaurant was great - one our favorite breakfast buffets (*not* included in the hotel rate) of all time.

Nothing Like Staying in a National Park

Drove from south to east today it's breath taking & pretty scary in places couldn't understand why safety road rails were not in place in many places where there was sheer drops but if your a thrill seeker enjoy the ride I clung to the car center box several times to the amusement of my husband now heading tomorrow to Bryce Canyon before heading south __

Our family stayed one night at the Zion National Park Lodge in a cabin and couldn’t have been happier with the choice. Being able to drive into the canyon in your own car and rely less on the shuttle system is a huge plus. The room was not updated or large but certainly very charming. I never heard our neighbors next door. The lodge area is very busy during the day but at night it really clears out and we enjoyed seeing the deer come onto the lawn. I would love to come back and stay multiple nights at some point in the future.

Zion National Park Lodge

We visited Zion National Park and were lucky enough to get a reservation for a cabin for one night. Although there was some construction going on in the parking lot, we were able to secure a decent parking spot. The cabin was very nice. The cabins have no TV or Wi-Fi, we knew that in advance and that was okay. The lodge was a short distance away where we were able to have dinner and breakfast. It was the hardest reservation we had to make on our month-long trip (Zion National Lodge), but we certainly enjoyed staying there.

Wake up worry-free to the sights and sounds of the wilderness at Zion's Lodge. While expansive, the rustic, comfy rooms are where you want to be. Convenient to the close by trails, the shuttle, and the lodge's restaurants. While the dining options are limited, the enthusiasm of the breakfast/lunch counter staff get the day started with a smile. (And the town of Springdale has great dinner spots.) Many thanks to the handyman staff, who were prompt and efficient. Tip: Always carry extra water, as hiking in the heat does take a toll.

Great location saves valuable hiking time

Wow! This location is absolutely stunning. Can't be beat. The rooms, though a bit basic and rustic in a good way, provide you with incredible views and access to the park. Our double queen room was on the ground floor and we had a small porch with two wooden rocking chairs. Amazing place to view the mountains and a short walk to the main lodge with a restaurant and gift shop. If you can stay in the park, absolutely do it! This was the highlight of our trip!!!
