I had a last minute stop due to my travel up North and was very tired. Had the choice to the Quality Inn but the price was just a bit much. So I saw the Red Roof Inn and took a try there. Never stayed at one. And all I could say is the price was not only great but the rooms where so clean. I have dust issues and not one spot of dust did I notice which is rare. I stayed on the 1st floor due to my 2 dogs and they loved it. I met the most sweetest British housekeeper who I had the chance to talk with about our dogs and I had to tell her how much of a great job she has done to the room and where did she get the smell from it was so tropical I never went to a motel that had such a great smell. I was surprised that other dogs were in that room because it was so clean. I rested very well due to the comfortable bed and the décor is nice also. My stop down here will always be this place. Especially to talk to the pretty British housekeeper who was the greatest. Thanks for having me and my furry babies.

Clean, nice, affordable and pets stay free Yah

What you'd expect plus friendly staff. Clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Hotel is dated but upkeep is done well and gratefully smells clean. Riya and Ruby checked us in and were friendly and accommodating to special room requests. The new manager Daniel was there at check out and again was friendly and helpful. Decent coffee 24 hours as well...always a plus!

Good stop for the night

The price was right, the location convenient ,the staff friendly, the room clean, the immediate area is industrial. However, there are many restaurants, gas stations and a Walmart nearby. And, of course, pet friendly with no hidden fees.

Bare bones, but acceptable

Driving north with my pup so chose this Red Roof among several options.  It was indeed newly renovated with amenities like a refrigerator and microwave that not all Red Roofs offer.  Room was very clean and the bed very comfortable.  The only area that could use work was the grout around the tub and floor in the bath.  THEN because of my first experience I stayed there again and was disappointed.  ASK FOR A ROOM WITH AN ODD NUMBER.  My second room was in the area surrounded by Verizon contractors with multiple trucks, one with flat tires, a barbeque grill, and some trucks parked across spaces.  My room had oily boot prints across the floor that I then tracked into the bed.  The fridge was half the size of my previous room.  Early the next morning the contractors started their trucks then left them running filling my room with exhaust.  The owner apologized but did nothing about my bill.

Great Price, Great Stay  But Avoid Contractors 

We were driving home from Florida and used the I-95 route this time due to weather reports of snow along I-77 and I-81.  We wanted to break up the trip and were looking for a hotel with outside corridors due to Covid-19.  The front desk clerk was very nice.  The first room was on the ground floor but the key cards did not open the room door.  We were redirected to a room on the second floor.  One of the beds was missing the headboard but we thought it would still be OK for one night.  I pulled the covers down to check for dirt and bugs.  The supposedly clean bedding had hairs on the sheets.  Next thing was no toilet paper in the bathroom.  After another trip to the front desk, we had a roll.  There was a used tissue plus hair and dirt behind the bathroom door and the tub did not look very clean.  We carried our luggage back down the steps, dropped off the key cards at the front desk, and left without staying.  I did not even ask for a refund.  We were anxious to get away.

Disappointed and We Left

Red Roof is as Red Roof does. They are hit and miss, more often they are a hit. It's also great to come to a place where we can bring our doggo without any problem. Usually the sheets are clean, towels are available, and plenty of their weirdie soap, and clean enough showers/toilets. So, we were unpleasantly surprised when we arrived at this location after a LONG drive from NY (and...turns out the wrong Roanoke, story for another time). 1. IT LOOKED LIKE SOMEBODY HAD PEED IN OUR SHOWER. 2. the toilet role dispenser was completely broken and holding on by a thread. 3. There was a used half bar of soap in the shower. 4. There were only a few sheets of toilet paper available on the broken dispenser. 5. The sheets were mottled with...bodily fluids, so much so that we slept on top of the sheets and used our own. 6. The fridge was v. gross.

NOW, after you've been driving all day and are hungry and exhausted...you still go to the front desk to see what they can do. ASHLEY WAS FANTASTIC and very understanding about the debacle. But after loading everything including our exhausted doggo into the room, the last thing we wanted to do was move rooms. Ashley was fantastic and offered us a comp room and double points for the visit. Which, considering we were heading to our next destination early in the morning, was an acceptable consolation. Ashley was fantastic, and yet we need to speak with management. Unfortunately, Ashley would need to pay out of her OWN FUNDS for us to have a comp room. That is completely unacceptable. I will NOT be taking the hard earned money of a fellow frontline worker because the room was unacceptable.  This should be covered by Red Roof Inn in general, and I look forward to hearing from management ASAP.

Great Customer Service - NOT a great stay for these frontline workers

I travel a lot and the worst thing , I hate about some hotels and this place falls right into this category that the blankets are like papier  mache and the air conditioning is hard to control to get the room just right .

Not bad 

For a lower price point, this would be fine for a one night stay by the highway. It is obviously "renovated," but it wasn't done well. The outcome is kind of a shabby look. Also, the floors in our room were dirty. Also, to one side is a construction site and the parking lot on that side of the hotel has all kinds of work trucks haphazardly parked everywhere. Initially they tried to give us a room on that side, which was odd I thought. The place wasn't full, why would you stick a guest on that side of the hotel? The back of the hotel abuts the highway, it is RIGHT THERE. So, if the sound of traffic bothers you, consider something closer to the front or really a different hotel. On the other side is a newly built Quality Inn & Suites, which later I googled and discovered was the same price point as this mess. If you want this location, I'd suggest trying that place. Overall, the stay was ok, but I wouldn't recommend it or stay here again if I was in the area again.

Overpriced for poorly renovated place...

We stayed at the Red Roof in Ashland Va on the 11th of August.  It was the absolute worst Red Roof I've ever been in.  It was filthy!  Dead roaches of the floor and a couple live ones crawling across the wall.  Mold and mildew in the shower and the entire building reeked of cigarettes.  If we hadn't gotten in at 11 p.m we would have left.  Horrible place.

Horrible Hotel

We needed a place to stop for the night and unfortunately this was the only place we found available after 3 exits of no vacancies. Floors were dirty. The bathroom door was covered in grime and stains. There were used bars of soap still left in the shower. The bedding was stained and scratchy feeling. Only a sheet and thin cover with no blankets. There was a sign that claimed it was a non smoking room but it smelled like a smoking room and there was a cigarette burn mark on one of the sheets. The TV was broken too.  If we were so tired with another 12 hours to drive we would have just left.  Truly disgusting place!
