I stopped at this motel, and was very impressed with how well it has been kept up and how nice the management was. I was greeted with a smiling manager Gary, who showed me the newly updated rooms including handicapped rooms that were set up very nice,as I have experience with a disabled wife. I would stay here any time that I am in this area, as the value in room price and how nice the rooms were impressed me.

A great deal in S.W. Va.

We stayed one night, room remodeled, nice clean , nice people, handicap  shower was very nice small but just right for me.AC worked well. My daughter said that the beds were so nice, she had the best night sleep. Easy access from the highway. 
We stopped late at night as a walk in. and got just what we needed. staff was very helpful.

great stay

With our vacation having to be altered somewhat, a friend and I spent one night here.  The employees were friendly enough.  The outside of the motel was okay.  The room itself was good.  The beds were comfortable.  Water pressure was pretty good.  No big frills, but if all you are going to do is sleep and shower, you really don't need much more.

Not Bad for an Overnight Stay

We rented two rooms by each other. Other than not having an adjoining door between rooms and hearing a bit of road noises, the rooms and bathrooms were spacious and clean! May want to fix the TV and Cable, the reception was poorer and annoying to watch. The motel rooms we were in looks like it's been upgraded fairly recently and the Bath/Shower stalls looked brand new! Worth the 60 plus a night! Lobby was closed off due to Covid but They have an outside window for check ins and seem to take safety precautions seriously.

Clean and spacious for an older Motel

Large room remodeled, nice clean , nice people, shower not good low water pressure , could not get a wake up call. Was very clean heater worked very well kept the room warm .

Remodeled

Well, it's a Motel 6.  Lots of road noise; no carpets on the floor, thin towels, few lights, no coffee maker, dodgy staff (but friendly).  On the plus side, the wi-fi worked well; the TV had a full range of channels, and the shower was hot.  If you are heading to Saltville or Chilhowie, this is about your only acceptable option but otherwise no real reason to pass up the better options in Marion or Abingdon.

Low Expectations Met

We visit family in the area and until now have not had a hotel in the area that we would even consider staying in.  When we learned that the old Knight's Inn had been purchased, renovated and converted to a Motel 6, we took a chance ad stayed for 2 nights.  The property in MUCH BETTER than before.  It's not luxurious (it is a Motel 6), but the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable.  Highway sounds really were not an issue even though I-81 is only a couple of hundred feet away.  There was some early morning noise from some inconsiderate guests, but that can happen anywhere.

Huge Improvement over the old Knight's Inn

The motel is located directly opposite to the interstate. Therefore it is not a quiet experience but any standards. The rooms are relatively well kept and updated and clean. So many Motel 6 location these days, the guests are a colorful mix of construction workers, old people, and (unfortunately) some people completely drugged out of their minds. 
Before I entered my room, I was followed by a guy , mouth open, almost drooling, wide eyes. 
Let’s just : the place is probably not the safest in the world.

Underwhelming

It’s a Motel 6. It’s clean. Very, very close to I 81. Could use a little maintenance - towel bars, shower curtain rod and bathroom door knob were loose. We stayed on a Saturday night, There was a race in Bristol. No other hotel had rooms. The rate here was $120, I stead of the usual $60. Would not be my first choice in Chilhowie.

It’s a Motel 6

I was tired, I needed to stop / rest for the night, and this location was available. 

Positives - the parking lot was lighted at night. The room and bathroom were clean.

Negatives - (1) Noise from the nearby interstate is unavoidable. 
(2) Noise from a someone's argument at 4:40 am from the room next to me was as silly as my time spent describing it. Someone had forgotten to pack a skillet. So, at 4:40 am, they needed everyone on the second floor - within hearing & hollering range to know about it. And for all those persons on the first floor, who didn't get to hear about the forgotten "____ ____ skillet" at 4:40 am, they got to hear something else.  At 4:52 am, I looked out of my window because these two had argued down the steps, down the sidewalk, and were slamming doors on their vehicle. Suddenly, a guest two doors down from me yelled, "Hey, you son of a _____'s down there." There was an instant silence followed by a pathetic attempt to squeal the tires of the 1970's model truck they were driving. It sounded like the engine was only hitting on about 3 of 8 cylinders as it backfired when the four barrel carburetor kicked open and started sucking air like a hive of angry bees while a cloud of blue oil smoke gushed from its well rotted exhaust pipe and replaced the yellow-orange glow of fog  in the street lights.  

I got up, got dressed, and went on my way.
