Very impressed! We really wasn't sure what to expect but very clean and comfortable. We had a smoking room and I had to call to make sure it was a smoking room, cleaner and smelled better then chain hotels I've stayed at. My mom lives right over the hill so very convenient. I'm sure we will be returning.

Last second decision

Great location. Simple, clean & comfortable. Safe area. I loved that the area was quiet & the view was beautiful. If your looking for a nice place to stay that's not super fancy but meets all your basic needs this is your place. The lady who checked me in was super nice. We were talking for awhile. 
I'll be returning next year & be making this my regular stop on my way to Memphis from now on!

Simple, Quiet & Clean with a Nice View

No frills motel that's clean, comfy, and very well priced for what you get - no frills, and by no frills, I mean not no just breakfast (knew that when I booked it), but no shampoo either - eek! I'm grading on the curve here, for again, inexpensive, and I'm not accustomed to motels but rather Hampton Inns on the low side.

This is a very nice, clean, homelike place to stay. Rooms were beautiful & the scenery was absolutely gorgeous!! I'll definitely be staying again.  U will always receive my business!!! No where else! Very highly recommend 

Happy with stay

Wonderful "Retro" Motel! Very well landscaped, bushes trimmed. Freshly blackened driveway entrance! Extremely clean exterior and interiors! And LVP flooring to boot, no carpeting! Ceiling Heat. What a joy and pleasure it was to stay there. We will most definitely return guests when we visit Abingdon again for plays at the Barter Theater.

Alpine Excels!

This delightful MCM gem is conveniently located on the outskirts of Abingdon, Virginia, less than a minute off I-81. The well-maintained grounds and beautifully kept building are reason enough to stop at the Alpine, but the recently remodeled rooms are the best reason to stay. Clean and comfortable, our spacious room provided us with all the amenities: wi-fi, a small fridge, a microwave, a large screen TV, and a desk, plus plenty of room for our clothes, both in drawers and on the rack located unobtrusively in the corner. The bathroom has abundant counter space and more than adequate lighting, and the adjacent private bath area sports a new water-saving toilet, as well as a tub/shower unit equipped with a grab bar—and plenty of hot water!
In this age of Covid, the owner’s concern for the welfare of his patrons is evident. Common sense protocols are in place, reassuring the travelers that their safety as well as their comfort is paramount. If you are a fan of Mid-Century Modern architecture, don’t miss a chance to visit the Alpine Motel. Whether it is a destination or just a stop on your trip, you won’t be disappointed.

Consistent quality, comfort and convenience--we wouldn't stay anywhere else!

We will absolutely be back.  My son and I went on a road trip and this place was our favorite establishment. We stayed at a high-end, full amenity location in Savannah (and it was great); but, this VERY affordable motel was hands-down our top choice. The staff was super friendly (for those who say otherwise... we get what we give, I suppose)... the rooms were ultra-clean and BIG and the location is fantastic.  

We did need to use the AC because the weather was perfect so we cannot comment on that; but, everything else was great.  I'd also like to add that the price allowed for us to not need a "free continental breakfast"; so, that wasn't an issue for us (but it is true that there is no continental breakfast - so, don't allow that detail to ruin your stay... I mean, seriously - go to Luke's Cafe in town if you want coffee - it's an awesome eclectic place).

All that to say, if you want a retro feel and don't care about unessential amenities, this is the place for you.

Excellent Place to Stay!

A great find. Spotlessly clean, comfy and spacious. We hadn't been specifically looking for a row motel, but on reflection not having to deal with a shared lobby and elevator is a big plus in the pandemic era. And the price couldn't be beat. Recommend wholeheartedly!

Blue Ridge stopover

This is a basic motel that is actually much better than some of its fancier neighbors in Abingdon. What is lacks in glamour is more than made-up by its wonderful location, cleanliness and hospitality.

Let's start with location. If you're like us and don't want to stay next to a shopping center or car dealership, this place is for you. The location on East Main Street is set on a large acreage and is removed from the bustle of downtown. Next door is a charming cattle ranch. You can walk up to the fence and have a conversation (if you speak cow). The location is quiet, heavily treed with great views. 

Second - Cleanliness. While this is an older motel, it has been meticulously updated with modern features, beds and furniture. Particularly impressive were the new floors and completely remodeled bathrooms. Even the parking lot has been renewed.

Third - Hospitality. The owners and staff are super friendly and accommodating. If you need something, they are right there willing to help.

All in all, you probably can't find better lodging in Abingdon unless you just want to needlessly throw away your money for the sake of optics.

Basic Is Better

Stayed in room 118, non smoking King. Very clean and neat, comfortable bed, nice shower. Lady at desk very friendly. Convenient location on main road. Price fair..Very pleased With our stay here and will do so again when in Abington.
