We went our son’s wedding. This was their first time open for the year. Tia and crew made sure the Libby was warm and comfortable. The day of the wedding they had a nice fire burning in the grand ballroom and made sure all of guests were comfortable. It was a great day and the staff deserved a lot of credit for their efforts. The rooms were sufficient and we had ample parking. We would recommend this for your even.

Wedding

Being a Taoist myself and planning a family trip to Estes Park I had to try this place out. I wasn’t disappointed. It is an amazing lodge. Huge lodge style lobby with fireplace. The place is so beautiful and peaceful. I rented 2 hostel rooms. They where very large, clean, and had a nice community area. Overall the entire place was awesome and we had a great experience there. We plan on going back soon.

Amazing Place

This place is beautiful. Yes they are still working on improvements, but that doesn’t take away for what this place is. It is tranquility. Our room is clean and the view of Longs Peak is amazing. And it’s away from the busy town. Can’t wait to come back.

Anniversary trip 2021

If you like peace and quiet in the mountains I highly recommend this place. Very clean, comfy beds, and staff is very nice and helpful! Slept with the windows open (no ac) and enjoyed the fresh nightly breeze.

Great,quiet,relaxing place to stay

We weren't sure what to expect since some reviews are not favorable. However, we were very happy with our accommodations. We stayed in one of the three dog friendly rooms in the lodge.  It was very clean and comfortable. They even provided a dog bed! The lobby and wedding hall are beautiful. The employees were very friendly and helpful. There was ice water and hot water in the lobby, as well as a clean microwave and ice machine in the hallway. Our room had an inside entrance and a door to the outside at ground level. Gorgeous views of the mountains and golden aspens. We walked the trails above the lodge and near the 2013 landslide. We just really enjoyed our stay! The history of the land and property is amazing, too! We would be happy with the Dao House whether it remains in its current condition or becomes a 5 star resort. It's just a special place, and I feel like most of the critics would be better off staying in Vail or Telluride. The Estes Park area does have some 5 star locations, but most places maintain the rustic and cozy atmosphere for which the RMNP area has always been known.

Spectacular aspen and mountain views

I would call it rustic. A lodge in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. What a great feeling. A balcony to relax on. And for me WIFI to connect with. Bring some wine and cheese and a good book to enjoy. Your in heaven. Stay several nights and enjoy the hiking in the area

Get the feel of the Rockies

Loved our stay. We weren't sure what to expect with the Dao beliefs but it was basically a normal lodge and much cheaper than other options. The views of the surrendering mountains were incredible with a pond on site too. The staff were kind and really flexible with our check out time. We picked this location so my husband could hike Long's Peak and it was as close as we could stay to the trail head. My daughter and I explored the vast property and trails all day and they let us check out late. Our room was large and clean and quiet with a nice bathroom. There is no AC but it gets cold at night and the wifi was very helpful since I had no cell signal. I only gave 4 stars because you can tell that parts of the property have really gone downhill. There is an rotting boat dock and unusable pool and hot tub and stables that would be lovely if repaired. My daughter enjoyed the slide and swings and horse shoes. The fire rings looked nice. A quick drive to town too yet very peaceful and quiet and beautiful here!

Incredible views

We loved the solitude that Dao House offered. It was very quiet our entire stay and all staff we came upon were very friendly and accommodating. Can’t beat the views and location. The door opening out to the mountains was one of the highlights of the trip. Only complaint was a slightly musty smell in the room, but that was easily alleviated by opening the porch door and letting in the fresh mountain air. We will be back!

Great Location & Value

Weary good place to  stay!!  Clean room. Best to stay on a first floor. Close to Lily lake and Estes Park. Service OK. Surprisingly  restaurant  have  weird open hours.  Nice interior  friendly  and helpful staff.

Nice place

The Dao house surprised us. We didn’t anticipate being submerged into a Buddhist atmosphere.   If we were traveling with our extended family and children,  we wouldn’t pick this lodge.

We Needed a one night stay due to a family member running a marathon in Estes.  The race started at this property so that’s why we booked it. 

The rooms are basic, and rustic .  The bed was ok.  Our room had a thick wooden door that opened to the outside balcony where we could sit on a log bench and enjoy the Mountain View. 
The rooms windows opened for fresh air which was nice.  A couple of the screens didn’t provide a seal to keep  insects out though.  . 

We appreciated that they have pet friendly rooms so those of us with allergies would not be in a pet used room.
