Good
The room is nicely decorated, but cramped.  It is not easy to have more than two suitcases in the room.  The room is one of a group of six rooms in a two-story back building.  The facility do-everything person is Michelle.  She treats you well and will try her best to satisfy your requests.  Breakfast is magnificent and well prepared.

Not good
Pittiful WiFi in the back building.  It is essentially impossible to connect a laptop.  I had to carry the laptop outside and walk toward the main house to try to get and hold a WiFi connection.  Unfortunately, I would always loose the WiFi connection.  My phone and tablet could be connected, but even the tablet would sometimes drop the WiFi connection.  I finally had to sit in the main building to use my laptop.  Much better WiFi is needed for the back building to not frustrate guests.

Overall, this is a good place to just relax and unwind and, if you can, forget the internet.  If an internet connection is needed while staying here, try to get a main house room.

The inkeeper's easy going style shined throughout the stay.  From the super easy check-in process, to the comfortable lodgings in a museum like setting, through the well prepared breakfast, Thee Hubbell House provided a luxurious escape from humdrum alternatives.  Truly a five star property!

Historic Texas Oasis

My 2 kiddos, hubby, and I were in the Red Bud room upstairs for our 2-night stay.  The property is a historical landmark, having been built in the late 1800s, and all rooms are decorated for that time period.  We liked being upstairs and feeling like we were practically in a  tree house since we are surrounded by plenty of mature trees.  The porches both upstairs and downstairs are a nice place to sit on the rocking chairs and enjoy the scenery, watch and listen to the birds.  The saltwater pool was clean and refreshing.  There are a couple of porch swings on the property, also.  Tim is a gracious and generous host.  He is customer-oriented in that he proactively does his best to keep his guests happy.  If you need anything, he is just a text message away.  He asked if we had any food restrictions for our breakfast and he was always up early happily preparing our breakfast.  We loved those eggs and pancakes!  The coffee made in the kitchen is the best, too!  The breakfast was served in the dining room at the mansion.  It felt fancy, nice, and nostalgic.  We happily toured the mansion, going back in history.

So Nostalgic & comfortable. The salt water pool was a surprise bonus! The host was so friendly and accommodating. My first Bed & Breakfast experience. Now, I am HOOKED! I loved the hearty breakfast served on antique china and at my selected time. Beautiful neighborhood close to downtown, I love the town, too.  We were there for a concert at the little theater! I enjoyed every minute of my stay in this small East Texas town. I want to go back!!!

Cozy Nostalgic Hideaway!!!

I’ve visited this place a few times actually and I thought I would finally write in a review.  This quaint B&B has never disappointed me each time I visited. The owner (Tim I think....) has always been kind and accommodating.  He even allowed my two dogs to stay with me in the Hogg House.  Breakfast was a bit early but very good!! And the coffee was always available all day.  I love the grounds with all the flowers, pond and pool!  I definitely recommend this place!
 

Great place to relax and unwind!

We went to Hubbell House based on the info and pictures from their website. It wasn't what we expected at all. We knew the room we booked was very small but certainly expected it to be clean and well appointed and it was not. There was lots of mold in the vent to the air conditioner and visible funk as you will see in some of the pictures. The chain on our toilet flap broke at about 9:00pm so we called the owner and he asked if it could be dealt with in the morning. We ended up fixing it ourselves. It really seemed to us that very little attention to detail was used when planning out the decor. Please see the pictures because they tell the whole story.
