This is a terrible run down place . They openly hide and photoshop every thing to look nice . They have no shame in turning of the AC and water pump to your room . When you complain she goes to the switchboard and turns the breakers back on , and this is always  after each time you leave the hostel . Our room was filthy and the sheets looked like a pack off dogs slept on them . The day tour is a rip of you can get it 100,000 vnd Cheeper at all the other places around town . If you like a room that smells bad , wires hang out of the walls , and the bathroom looks like one of thise over night bus stop places . Do not stay here 
We had drunk Vietnamese men trying to push into our room at night , not a safe place , 
Tripadvisory should remove this place from your offerings

Do not stay here , all they say is false including the photos

The owners are dishonest people and even cheat on you! We’ve booked a private double room but when we got there they have sold our room to other people for a higher price! 
Since it was a Vietnamese holiday the whole island was booked out which is why we had no other choice than sleeping in their dirty and mouldy dorm (at least they kept two beds free for us after giving away our booked room!)
We’re used to stay in dorms, but this was the worst dorm I’ve ever seen! 

There was another couple at the reception which had the exact same problem!!!

I’d not recommend this place to anybody!

DON’T STAY THERE!!!

The dorms are a disgrace, no window in some. There is mold on the walls, the wifi isn't working.
This is a bad place to be.
Now what does this app want me to write in order to reach the two hundred notes minimum?

No windows at the dorms

- A hard and soaked bed 
- Very dirty room, it was very moist, there was fungus everywhere. A very unhealthy place to stay. 
- The ceiling was leaking. The solution of the staff: A old worn down pair of shorts on the floor to soak up the moist. The dripping sound was terrible and made sleeping very challenging. 
- The sink in the bathroom was broken. 
- Very dirty towels! Some undefinable stains were present. The room we originally booked was already taken, so we had to stay in a different, smaller and more uncomfortable room. The next day we transfered to the other horror room. One plus: Both rooms were evenly filthy.

Very disgusting hostel

The old adage, never judge a book by its cover, rings true at Cat Ba House. 

At first glance it is decrepit and hostile. 

But to truly gauge this futile dungeon, one must stay a night. 

The rooms are filth.

The sheets stained and looking as if they haven't been changed in years, walls quite literally falling apart and the bathroom has to be seen to be believed. 

Upon arrival the owner greeted us with utter distain and started rambling about people who book but don't stay. 

I understand why people would choose to vacate this hell hole once entering the lobby. 

But hey, don't judge a book by its cover and give it a go - it's an experience. 

You will leave feeling filthy and wallowing in disgust. 

(I would rate this accomodation with -5 stars if Trip Advisor had the option).
