We had planned to book a luxury 5 star boat trip but due to bad planing on our end that was not possible and so we ended up - by total coincidence- running into this amazing offer - and thank god for that!
This is as beautiful and personal an experience as you could ever want. The staff is doing everything they possibly can to make you happy and the young man Kay speaks ok English and cooks amazing food for you on the boat! I highly recommend the seafood dinner - which is an extra 15$ and so worth it! If you want any snacks or drinks besides water and coffe / tea you must bring it yourself or arrange with them to bring as it is not automatically onboard. I’d have liked to have had wine with my food and that had been an option if we had planed for it. We did not. 
The captain of the boat speaks no English but manages to communicate quite well anyway and he has a great sense of humor and the most contagious laugh. 
The crew had the perfect ability to find those little - non touristy spots that we all dream about but that big organized tours by definition can not go. We slept in a totally deserted place. 
If the boat had not been booked by others we had stayed one more night!


Stayed on the boat - loved it! 

The Little Cat Ba Hotel is a charming hotel away from the built up town - but still within easy reach by bike (free to borrow), moped or even foot. The staff of the family run hotel were amazing throughout our stay, with nothing being too much for them - including preparing our breakfast earlier than usual ahead of us going on a day trip. 

The pancakes for breakfast were delicious, and nothing beat sitting by the lake and relaxing with a beer or tea! Our room had a small terrace area which we also enjoyed. We were able to rent one of the hotel’s mopeds, which made getting into town / visiting the national park very easy!
Finally, we loved the three cats here!!

Would recommend staying here to anybody visiting Cat Ba island!

A wonderful retreat with outstanding service!

We were in Cat Ba for 3 days . The staff was very nice an forthcoming. They cared a lot and recommended good tours. The room was one of the best we had in vietnam ! A little Oasis to relax and chill ... The Owner understands how to exceed expectations!

Best Hotel in Vietnam 

The staff here are great, super friendly & welcoming. They can help you to arrange all sorts of trips or transport (even get you back to Hanoi, Sapa, etc.) which is very helpful!! There’s quite a few cats & dogs, so ideally you need to like animals. Breakfast was really great. The bed was a bit hard & the bathroom is very basic but it didn’t really matter. The setting is gorgeous. Perfect to be away from the very touristy town. It’s a 25 min walk but ideally you need to take a taxi back at night as it’s so dark on the roads with no footpath. Highly recommended! Thanks to the lovely people who work there :).

Lovely little place to stay (perfect away from the tourist centre)

Set a little outside Cat Ba, but within walking distance, this is family run little hotel is an oasis. Lovely, friendly people Look after you and are always there to help. We had all our tour and transfer plans perfectly arranged by them. Breakfast, lunch and dinner offers local or international dishes. We absolutely loved the Hot Pot.

We couldn‘t have found a  nicer place

Little catba is a very nice hotel on Cat ba island. It’s 2 kms from the main market and the rooms are quite comfortable. Staff is friendly and woke up early to get our breakfast ready when they realised we had to head out. They arranged a bike on rent and can also help figure out other tours and things to do

The place has 4 cats and 2 dogs who are super adorable!

Great little hotel with very friendly staff

I spent two nights here alone. It’s a 10/10 for this place. 
The staff are lovely. The food is nice. The room very clean. 
It’s not a normal hotel and it’s better off that way. 
Can be a bit tricky to find as the sign out the front needs to be easier to read.

Lovely staff.

We came to Catba island for a very short stay, just to do a day cruise. So we arrived at Little Catba Hotel just after nightfall the day before, feeling a bit frazzled and tired from 12 hours of travel. The 3 ladies who run this quant lakeside hotel immediately made us feel welcome and at ease, with a tasty tea on arrival and explanation of the hotel and room. 

Our room was quite simple, but tidy, and had everything we needed.

The restaurant is small, and well priced — we enjoyed the noodle soup with egg for breakfast, it was very nourishing. I think that we had some of the best coffee of our whole Vietnam trip here, too.

We also had a lot of washing to do, which they did overnight for us, for only a couple of dollars.

We liked the pets they had around, of which there were many, including some cute puppies and kittens.

After our second night when we were due to be picked up, our host (and one of the cute dogs) walked us out and waited with us for our bus to make sure we got on the right one, as we don’t speak much Vietnamese. We felt very well looked after by our host here 😊

Overall I would say that this is a cute, quiet spot to stay if you would like to get away from the noise of Catba town. It is quite simple, but this suited us just fine, and we were happy

Short but sweet

We stayed here the night before we left for our boat cruise. This is a cute guesthouse right outside the town of cat ba. This guesthouse is super cute, and only a few rooms, so make sure to book in advance! Loved the location and watching the fisherman across the water fish from his boat. It’s very quiet and serene here. The rooms are cute, we had a lake view room, and the garden rooms are nice too and might be even slightly bigger. The beds weren’t the softest for our  taste, but it was just one night! The air con and WiFi worked great. The restaurant area was super cute too and the breakfast was excellent! Loved the pancakes. The staff was nice but not as friendly as some of our other places we stayed. I felt the interest went down a bit when they realized we had already booked our boat tour prior to arriving, but they were helpful getting us great directions into town! Cat ba isn’t the most interesting town, this a a prefect guesthouse to stay when passing thru!!

Great stay in Cat Ba! 

We stayed as 2 couples at Little Cat Ba for 2 nights and had a lovely time. Cat Ba is great but very touristy and busy (mainly with Vietnamese families on holiday) so it was nice to stay somewhere a little out of town. It is still walking distance from town or you can get a cheap taxi.
The staff here are really friendly and helpful and the place itself is beautiful and very clean. Would really recommend.
